Virgil....are you getting storms?

I wish you all could send your rain over here!

DH decided it was too late to head up tonight. We went to dinner with our friends to one o our favorite spots and they had a guy singing. He was really good, so we stayed pretty late.

Did we decide if tomorrow is our 90 day, or Sunday? I have my excursions picked out, and I'm ready to go!

Guess I will head to bed. No one around to talk to.....

GOOD MORNING EAST COAST CRUISERS! HAPPY SATURDAY EVERYONE!

Good night,
Stacey

I had gotten to a point in the last month or so where I was drinking way too much Pepsi. Had to cut back. That's probably where half of my extra pounds came from. If it's only liquid, why should it make us fat?

Lynda....I just spent the last 2 hours trying to find any info at all on accessible excursions. The best I came up with was one site that said that most of the tour operators in the Caribbean are equipped to handle a person with mobility problems. Surely, someone at Disney should know whether their excursions are accessible??
I also e-mailed the Jolly Roger Pirate operators directly, to ask them. I'll let you know.

Hi Stacy (this is prolly old news by now but here goes...)

In a way, Pepsi is corn syrup and carbonated water with lots of salt...The more you drink, the more sugar and salt you ingest. Sugar is empty calories and the sodium makes you retain water...A week or so ago I finally bought a case of water, drank up my last ounces of Pepsi and went cold turkey....(bin peein' overtime evver since). I hope that's the reason I'm weighin' in lighter....Goodbye, retained water.....

Thank you for researchin' the excursions...I've been trying to pry access information out of the Disney people for over a year now and they are very shy...or else they simply don't know what they have...I've heard all kinds of excuses. Right now the research for my book concentrates on access at the resorts but I'm beginning to see where some material on shore excursions would be very helpful to find in a Passporter...

I'm hoping my TA will be able to wring some info out of the shore excursion dept....who knows? Between them and the pirate people maybe some information will come out that lots of people can use! If I could just get an in person look at the facilities....Not everyone who needs easy access is in a wheelchair but if DCL says there is no handicapped access...what do they mean? No ramps? No dogs? No accessible taxi? No pavement? All? Some? None?

Thanks for your help....

Lynda....I was still here for a second. I found two websites for TA's who cater only to those with disabilities. Have you seen them? They book cruises, excursions, hotels, everything. But, unless I were to contact them to actually book, they don't have any info online about specific excursions.
I have to say, I'm really getting into this, and I'm starting to get pretty ticked. I'm astounded that there isn't any info out there...at least that's easy to access.

Last year, I carried a bottle of water with lemon in it everywhere. Just now starting to get back into that habit. I have shrunk my stomach, so to speak, to where I can only eat half of what I had been eating. Now to the treadmill and then the gym! It won't make much of a difference before the cruise, but I still have the rest of my life to be healthy for!

Good Morning everone. Happy Saturday. I have been up since 5:30am, not by choice. DS got up extra early!!!!!!! We are expecting lots of rain today. DD has acting this morning, we all have a 1 yr birthday party this afternoon and than DD has an indoor sports party early evening. We have dinner plans tontght. It will e a busy ay in the rain.
On he subjuct of Pepsi. DH loves Coke and if thre is no Coke around he drinks Pepsi. I want him to cut it down. To much sodium and caffine!!!I worry as he drinks way to much of it. I have been buying Poland spring flavored water for him to get use to. I do not drink that much soda anymore. The carbonation bothers my stomach. DD has the same problem I do. She started to take a couple sips a few weeks ago and had tummy problems.
I have been trying to eat healthly and have been also buying organic fruits, eggs and milk. TTYL-DS wants his breakfast.Gail

Hi everyone,

I am in full plannng mode this morning. I have emailed DU to see if I can add the REAS package to our reservation as a surprise for DH (and a treat for me of course). I had been thinking about it for a while but decided to just go for it - after all we are on vacation.

I still haven't decided on excursions. I am kind of thinking we will just do our own thing as we will mainly be looking for a beach.

I am very keen to try the Rainforest room and have read you can get a pass for the whole cruise. Is this something I need to do when I get on board - do they sell out quicky?

Anyone who's been before - what is DCL like for getting a sun lounger on sea days. Do you need to be up at dawn to secure a space. I don't mind where I sit - doesn't have to be by the pool or anything but I do like to sit in the sun. Although we'll have the boys with us they won't want to sit with us at all so I'm thinking we might get a spot by the adult-only pool - is it easier to get a lounger there? On our recent P&O cruise you had to get up pretty early on sea days to get a space - we did manage it but only by passing on breakfast and heading straight up to the deck.

Good morning Cruisers!
We sail in 13 weeks!

Angela - as long as you aren't picky as to where your lounger is you'll be fine. It seems like those right by the pool get grabbed very early (especially around the kids pools). There are some people who will get up early, put a towel and book on a chair and then not show up for hours. Very rude if you ask me. If you love the sun you can find plenty of loungers up on deck 10 (the pools are one deck 9) with full access to the sun. Also if being near the water and bars is not important to you check out the deck 7 aft area as there our loungers out there as well.

Those of you getting storms with Ivan's last little push - stay safe!

Sorry I didn't stay in chat longer last night. Mark tells me I missed Virgil and Gail. My eyes were really tired and I just wanted to stretch out after all the walking we did.

Have a great day everyone!

Forgot to add - based on my counter which is set for sailaway I would think Sunday is the day for excursions.

I'm planning on calling either on Sunday or Monday (since I'll still be off work). We are paid in full and know which excursions we want already.

Thanks Mary. That sounds fine. I like to dip in the pool occasionally if I get hot but I'm not worried about walking up or down a deck or two to get there.
I just love sitting on my lounger watching the sea. It is such a cool feeling just being in the middle of nowhere floating by.

Angela

Angela - sounds like you are a perfect candidate for deck 10! You can watch the sea much easier for up there. I agree that it is great! Also if you just want to watch the world go buy and get out of the sun for a while head down to deck 4 and check out the padded teak loungers - they are wonderful!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Yesterday was really something. I worked all day and then we got the wrath of IVAN. There were dozens of tornadoes in the area. Luckily , we were not hit. It was kinda frightening.
Lisa- you guys okay? I know they were your way also.
Had lots of rain. Our internet service went down, but we never lost power. Today it looks like we are getting lots of wind and more rain. Good day to just stay inside!

I hope everyone has a great day and is safe from this storm!

:cake: :cake: :bday: :bday: :cake: :cake:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VICKI!!!!

Looky there......with a cherry on the T.O.P. too!!!

:umbrella: You guys want to send some of that rain this way, PLEASE!
You can keep the tornadoes, though......went through plenty of those in the old Nebraska days.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow, but I'll believe it when I see it. I think we are done with the temps over 100 though. It's 86 right now.

I heard DH leave for the cabin this a.m. but didn't get up to say goodbye....ended up sleeping late. Nice for a change.

Now to figure out which of my little projects I want to start on first!
I'm going to use his workshop to do some painting....sshhh, don't rat me out!
I may save that for when the group of giggling girls arrive to do their video project.

Off to get something started, anyway....
Have a great day!

  1. What is a REAS package?
  2. What is the TAG in the "Tag Fairy"?
    [/list=1]

My countdown clock says 91 days & 56 minutes, so I guess 90 will be tomorrow!

Now if we can only book the SPA in advance... :)

I LOVE the Rainforest Room. I always get the "length of cruise" pass to it. It's the most relaxing place on the ship. With or without a good book.

I am getting very :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: How will I get through the next 90 days???????????

Hi Dee!
REAS is the Romantic Escape at Sea Plan. You get Palo ressies, a couples massage, champagne & strawberries....I forget what else.

I have no idea about the TAG in the Tag Fairy. Still haven't figured out the Tag Fairy!

I've never asked anyone this.....the Rainforest room is like a sauna, right? Is it really steamy? You (and everyone else) seem to really like it...tell me about it.
I have trouble getting my breath in most saunas......

Stace,

The Rainforest Room is actually a collection. You get 2 steam rooms, a sauna, some aromatic showers, and then there is the MAIN part. It's a warm area with heated stone loungers and a fountain in the center. The air is scented. I'm fairly sensitive to smells so I can tell you that it's scented just right -- not too strongly but enough so that you get a light fregrance. The most relaxing thing you can do on the ship is take a good book and sit in one of the stone loungers, and read. DH and I love to go there together. We read, we chat (quietly), or just close our eyes and relax. I did fall asleep there a couple of times -- it's that relaxing. You don't have to go into the sauna area, and last time I was there, they had 2 steam rooms, 1 with less steam, which is always my preferance.

Forgive my spelling today, my writer self is on strike in preparation for some major projects starting next week.

The Rainforest Room is the BEST!

So is the REAS package bookable (??) in advance????

Yes.....you can book it in advance...in fact, I think you have to.
It's $299 a couple...I think. There's also a "romance basket" that you get in your room, turndown service one night with rose petals on the bed...
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Sounds like I would LOVE the Rainforest room. I would fall asleep, though. Is it crowded? I don't know why I've never looked into this..I guess I just thought it was a sauna.

  1. REAS is Romantic Escape At Sea. The package is booked through your TA or direct from Disney. For 2004 the cost is $299 and includes:

*Couples massage - choice of either spa taster or I think a full massage.
    *Palo Dinner
*Romantic turn-down the night of you Palo dinner with rose petals going to your bed.
*Champagne breakfast in bed (a fuller menu than the normal room service breakfast).
    *A gift basket upon arrival.

Many people have booked it because you can book you massage and Palo dinner ahead of time. They have also had luck reserving Palo Brunch and High Tea at the same time, but not any other spa appointments.

If you do a search on REAS I'm sure you'll find even more details.

As for the Tag. Tags are the words that appear under your user name. You start out as Welcomed Guest and after so many posts you become a DIS Veteran. When you become a veteran you can change those words yourself as it looks like you've done. The Tag Fairy works behind the scenes and adds color and tags to people's names. For example when they first started years ago I asked for and was granted my first two tags. My third about sailing under the DVC flag was added by the tag fairy. The tag fairy has since asked that no one ask or "beg" for tags. Usually your tag is based on something you said or did on the boards. So the more you post on different forums the more chance you have of getting noticed by the tag fairy.

Opps - looks like Stacey and I were posting at the same time. Well double the info! :D

Stacey I'm sending you a pm.

That's funny, Stacey, because you've been tagged! The TAG Fairy is someone who has the power to place the quotes under your user name in COLOR.:jester: Usually the quote is something catchy you've said in one of your posts. You can't ASK for a tag, begging doesn't work either. It's completely random. Oh, and never complain about your tag, either, they have been taken away!

No Rainforest Room for me :( . Even a little bit of fragrance would do me in. But my veranda will be lovely, or maybe a lounger on Deck 4.

Stacey, on the forecasts it looks like you're going to get some rain from Hurricane Javier. Now, where is Lisa?
