Cheryl, the best part of a big group is that even if you aren't terribly talkative, you can slide into a few conversations, and even if you don't do that, a smile goes a long way! :) We're all looking forward to meeting you and your "boys" and your family!!

I used to do the overnight shift...I remember coming home at 8am and having a beer and dinner and trying to go to bed. We would switch shifts every 2 weeks - first 8am - 4pm, then 4pm till midnight, then midnight to 8am. My body would just get used to one shift and then have to move to another, it was awful. Then I got married, and got pregnant, and had kids - tell a 6 mo. old that mommy has to sleep in the day. I can completely empahtize, sleep well today!

DH is somewhat shy too, but I tend to overcompensate... *grin* As I said before, you have been warned! :)

Another asthmatic here, as is DD - we're not taking her nebulizer on board, we *knock on wood* have not had to use it for about a year, her "puffer" works ok...and I figured the med. center would have that, it's very basic. :)

Too funny , with the "eh" - any other regionalisms? Of course you all know about the famous Boston accent, which none of us have - my dad being born in France and growing up in London, he'd SHOOT us if we said "Cah"...

I admit to saying "Like" ALL the time. "And I was like...are you KIDDING ME? And she was like NO WAY!". :rolleyes: I don't say it alone...it's always "was like"

Here in New England, at least in my area, we say "wicked". It's WICKED cold out...it's WICKED awesome...

...

Hmm. I don't sound 36, do I....I think I've been hanging out with my DD too much.

Cap-If Cheri didn't pack for me it WOULD just be speedos, lime-green sneakers, DIS shirt and the cap from Gary. Oh, what a sorry sight......

I think we're teaching Matt the proper ettiquette for these boards. Yesterday when I told him of my honorary Canadian citizenship, he said he knew how the Candians spell Canada.
It is: C, EH, N, EH, D, EH, eh? Yep, mighty proud of that youngun takin' after his old pa. Like, wicked, eh, dude?

Cute Dean...you just made me laugh so hard...

What is UP with the kids today - we're all off for the holiday and they're MAKING ME NUTS! If I show minus 2, you'll know why....

:mad:

Okey Doke, I think we have an agreement for the 3:00-3:30 Meet and Greet outside/inside Studio Sea. I also like the Promenade Lounge idea for that night. There should be a band there.

When you board the Magic, Have the host include you DIS board handle. That way you may be greeted on board by Gail and I!!!:teeth: We're going to be up on the terrace to your left as you board the ship, which is the same location for the Meet and Greet. We will have the hats with us at all times until they're all passed out or we are!!!:faint:

We're REEEEEEEEALY getting excited now!!!:hyper:

HADD!!!:wave: :wave2:

Good idea about the screen / board name, Gary. Otherwise you may not recognize me :teeth:

Sounds like Matt's a chip off the ol block, eh!! We'll have to make him an honourary Canuck, too!!

3:00 - 3:30 outside Studio Sea works for us... sounds like a plan, Stan... er, I mean esteemed co-chairs... Promenade Lounge that night sounds good too...

I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go....

HADD!!!

Dean, for some strange(and I DO mean strange, but in the nicest possible way) reason, I don't think recognizing you will be a problem!!!:crazy:

Hey Kim, tell us us some of the Burghisms!!! Mup'ers, Yuns, etc.

Dorie - glad I helped jog your memory on the Jessica McClintock dress. Bridget had originally wanted to wear a Disney princess dress and then took it back because she wants to be more grown up. Plus none of them fit anymore. It's hard to lose your baby girls.

Annie - my guys will be wearing their tuxes both nights. Less to pack and you don't get many chances to see them all gussied up. My sisters and I are the queens of overpacking. I usually take about 5 more pairs of shoes then I need. And I hate when you get to the last day and there's no choices - only one outfit left to wear and you're stuck with it no matter what the weather, the occasion or your mood.

Dean - does the speedo have a cumberband and vest or just a bow tie? And how come you only get Cap's paper. Don't you love the rest of us?

Dorie again - I never did more then 5 and a quarter miles. Eight miles - I'm impressed. How many times is that around the ship? I usually do the loop around Valley Forge Park in the summer. Lots of hills, so it's pretty brutal.

When you board the Magic, Have the host include you DIS board handle. That way you may be greeted on board by Gail and I!!!

Gary, what do you mean by this? "Include" on what?

Cap was the only one to ask for special delivery so..... first-come, first served.

No cumberbund, vest, bow tie or other unnecessary items. Gotta pack light, eh?

Cap, I'm sorry!!! *slaps himself in the forehead* D'OH!!!!!

For all you first timers out there, DCL does a very cool thing when you board the Magic. They announce you, as in "Now boarding the Disney Magic, Gary and Gail Wilson from Erie, Pennsylvania!!!"
And the crowd goes wild!!! Actually, the DCL staff does give you a nice welcome. I was asking to have your DIS name (Cap, OKWMEMBER, etc.) announed with your real name so those of us lurking around the boarding area know for sure it's you!!!
:hyper:

I hope that clarifies the situation!!!

HADD!!!:wave: :wave2:

The boarding announcement is a great idea. Adding our screen names will certainly help. I'm having a tough time keeping everyone straight.

I haven't done any pre-packing other then buy a pack of windex pre-moistened wipes at the grocery store yesterday. One of the sites I was visiting suggested bringing windex to wipe the sea salt off your balcony doors to see out better. I didn't want to pack a bottle, but the wipes are nice and compact and spill-proof. I started my bring-along list too.

Bridget has everything she wants to take on a chair in her room. I really don't think she'll need 4 purses (all filled with various HAVE TO HAVE junk), so I'm going to have to help her condense.

I haven't started packing a single thing! :eek: I am starting to stress a little. I used to always be a last minute, pack the night before, or morning of, depending on departure time, person. But since I started traveling with Luke after he was born, I started doing things in advance since there was so much more to pack -- especially when he was still a baby.

So, right now I am supposed to be starting my packing and what am I doing? I am on the computer. I just had to check in and see what's going on.

I am joining Nikki in the ranks of car bills right before vacation. Over the weekend, things started going haywire. Looks like the alternator -- the same alternator that was rebuilt 2 years ago (almost to the day). Now the decision 2 years ago, to spend only $200 and some dollars to rebuild the alternator instead of $400 and some to intall a new one, doesn't seem like it was such a good one. :(

Gary, thanks for the update on the boarding announcement. I don't recall that they did that when we boarded the Wonder last year, but there was a crowd and we were in a hurry.

For those who asked earlier about the cost of ship to shore calls, I've found that if someone calls you, they will be asked for a major credit card which will be billed $6.95 / minute, so that implies that you are not charged if you don't initiate the call.

I'm telling people to email me at my usual email address, unless it's a real emergency. I can check my email via the Internet. There's not alot I can do about emergencies when on the cruise anyway. If a pipe breaks, call a plumber.

With less than 96 hours before we leave, I'm starting to get more incentivized to get things pulled together, packed, etc.

Dean, please put the paper on hold for three weeks. starting Friday. That reminds me, I've got to stop the mail also.

Kim, you can try out the Windex wipes on our balcony door. I told Judi that we're likely to have many more visitors than we did on our first cruise, when the only visitor was the cabin steward. He did show us how to make some of the towel animals, however.

Hey Kim, tell us us some of the Burghisms!!! Mup'ers, Yuns, etc.

AH! The dreaded Pittsburghese... (I have provided translations in parathenses)
For those of you who don't know, Pittburghese is the unofficial language of the Still (Steel) City. From da Sahside (Southside) to Sliberty (East Liberty), you can find Picksburghers (Pittsburghers) speaking just like this. Every tahn (town) has its own flavor, and this is just one of ours. So if you are planning to visit Dahntahn (Downtown) or just catch a Stillers (Steelers) game we suggest you learn the language of the 'Burgh.

Which reminds me, Nikki, not everyone likes the Pats ;)

Here are some other Pittsburghese examples:

ahr = hour
ahrn = iron as in Ahrn City Bir (beer)
brawl = bra (ladies undergarmet)
buggy = shopping cart
cream rinse = conditioner as in - I need some cream rinse so I can worsh (wash) my hair
crick = creek
filum= film as in I need filum in my camera to take pitchers (pictures) of the fahworks.
gum bands = rubber bands
Jag off = one who jags around; a jerk
jumbo = bologna
pop = soda
soda = ice cream soda
yuns = you, plural

and Gary, this one is for you -- exact quote:
Mup-ere = Up here. As people In Erie Pa (The mistake by the lake), state when any of Pickburghers' come into town, we're mup-ere from the Picksburg.

Cap - Windex wipes is Barbara not Kim. Kim is red-head who burns easily and needs toque for sun (right Kim?).

My search also brought up a RIT dye that you can wash your clothes with and blocks the sun out completely. Not tested or recommended by me, just noted. Might be a difficult product to find in any northern areas though.

But, I mentioned that I have the windex wipes, but no balcony door. Cap is nice enough to offer to let me use them on his ;)

OK. I'm trying to prevent emergencies. Said to self - check furnace and filters before you leave. Pulled filters to clean and notices water around water heater on floor. Not good. Now checking water heater to see if it is just a valve leak, or heater is planning to throw a fit and cry a lot when we're gone. Usually they only do that the day after we put a house on the market to sell.

All water off in house, while I drain water heater. Will report later. Just think, stateroom water heater repairs included in the cruise package, soon - no worries.
