20040131 ~ Cruising Jan 31 2004 Western Who's with us?

Poor Randy, poor Annie!! We're sending get well soon thoughts from here in Massachusetts...

Stay well, everyone!!

Keep us posted, ok?

Randy,
What do you think you're doing getting sick now? Do you secretly dislike all the fun? Do you hate the great food? Or... is it us you don't want to see, with the speedos, the dancing and the toques? Whatever it is, get well, we don't want to miss your great company! Honestly, please get well, our little family will be devastated without you, (sob). Annie, hang in there, he will be fine, between the pixie dust and our prayers that he will get well quickly, he'll be fine!
take care,
Renae

Ann, tell Randy we're thinking of him and we hope he gets well real soon!

HADN!!! :wave2:

Juli, your car problem does not sound good. Sounds like the computer sees one wheel as going slower than another, thinks you are in a skid, and is trying to correct for you. Hopefully the brake guy just didn't get the new pads fitted correctly.

I'm up early - worrying about everything I have to get done in the next three days before we leave. I'm putting more on my list than I'm crossing off.

Thanks Cap,
It does seem like something computer related. We'll get it fixed in the next day or so. I have such a busy week that Tony won't have a car if we don't!

I get "travel stress". My whole family knows it and just stays out of my way. Peter is really sweet about it. He's always asking how he can help. That's pretty nice for an 8 year old. Nick trys to help as well if he's around. John and Tony just go and hide! Every time I cross something else off my list, I add something to it too. I act like I have to have everything under the sun taken care of before we leave. Makes coming home a bit better.

Oh, and we have something we call "rough re-entry" around here. We'd all get depressed the day before we had to go home and be cranky for two days after we got home. Having the dog to get home to seems to make a big difference. I think having some out of the ordinary things to do once you get back helps to. Like a play, concert, or even just a dinner with friends.

Now, I just have to remember to bring the kids!

Thanks Nikki. I think I'll like it as well. A good friend of mine recommended it also. She knows me pretty well and was sure I'd like it. I love books you can't put down. Looking forward to it. I also picked up a copy of Sea Glass at Costco today. Don't know anything about it, just that is was a best seller. Probably won't bring 2 books on the cruise. My days of reading a book in one day are long over!

Oh, I'm right there with you Barbara. My families favorite line..."Are you crying again?" I cry at the parades, fireworks and always at illuminations. Pretty much anything that we are all seeing and enjoying together. I just look over at everybodies smiling faces and get all teary-eyed. My family finds it quite amusing. :)

if you're looking for some light, very funny cruise reading, try the Bubbles Yablonski series. They're hysterical.

I read something that said that if that is your makeup, set aside 30 minutes a day to worry. Then any other time during the day when something comes up, push it to your worry time

I didn't see the 10 day boogie from anyone either? Dean are you slipping?

Great - funny and light are good!

What a great idea. I'm going to try this the rest of the week. I'll get my worrying out of the way first thing in the morning Thank-you!

I'm doing the 7-day Boogie! We are leaving for FL in one week! Woo-hoo!

Sorry about the double posts. I am just a lurker at heart. You all brought the post piggie out in me and I'm still learning.

Randy was admitted to the hospital today with pneumonia

Oh Ann, Hope all is well soon. No dark clouds allowed! They have officially been banned from all 1/31 cruisers! We all need to get them over with this week. Car troubles, illness, plumbing and furnace problems. No way. I have really good travel karma and I'm sending it your way.

In the alternative, I'll say some prayers for you.

Annie! You give Randy a kiss for us! He'll be better and the Doc is going to tell him the very best thing he can do for himself is a nice tropical vacation to recuperate! Wow, it's a lot of stress to add right now. Poor baby - both of you!

Gary and Gail the kids made it to Ithaca no problem today. Thank you again!

Dorie, where in the world is Dalzell???? Down state? Sorry I can run with you but I'll merrily walk w/ anybody who is up early.

Where's Dean today???

Jill was just saying she can't believe she's going on a cruise in just a few days.

It's going to be an early nght tonight.

Hi All!
Annie-- please send our get well wishes to Randy! Can we email him get well wishes at the hospital? I know the hospital that my mom is in, you can send her little notes with pretty pictures on them like e-cards! Let us know!

Karyn- Dalzell is a very small town ( about 600 people) in Central Illinois. Its close to LaSalle- Peru area. Have you heard of that? Its north of Peoria and southwest of you. I don't know if its on a map, because it is small! My oldest step-daughter used to live in Downers Grove-- close to you-- right?

Its very cold here today and supposed to get colder! Everytime I go out -- all I can think about is that warm Florida Sun!!!

party-smiley-004.gif

I've been peeking in on you all day. Whew! Tuesdays are rough days to get a chance to get in and visit. Looks like a pretty light day, conversation wise. So, guess we need to pick up the pace huh, Cap?

Sorry to hear about Randy, Annie. I hope everything goes well for both of you. The good news for him is he gets out of the packing!

Dorie-Is Dalzell anywhere near Magnolia, IL? My sister lives there and talks about Peru quite often.

Good job on keeping mom busy packing today, princess. She said if she doesn't get packed, she can't go. And, I would guess that if she don't go..... well, you know?

It was nice talking to you again this evening, Gary. And, by the way, super nice of you and Gail to take care of Karyn's kids. Like I mentioned, Matt rolled a brand new car about 100 miles from here on a gravel road earlier this year. He said he was okay but, as a parent, you still worry until you see for yourself.

OK, did I forget anything? Oh, yeah - everybody wear their dancing shoes tomorrow. Big day and we're ready to get down. Which is an accomplishment for some of us. :teeth:

See you tomorrow.

Annie, sorry to hear about Randy. Add me to the list of well wishers and I will say a prayer for a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself and Jacklyn too. It's so easy to get sick this time of year, especially if you're run down. So get your rest too!

Getting in kind of late on the good thoughts for Karyn, her kids, and Gary and Gail. How great that you could help them! There's a special place in heaven for angels like you two.

I have a 21 year old and I still stay up and wait for him when he is home from college. We have some pretty good conversations late at night. You never stop worrying about them. My MIL keeps a bottle of tums next to her phone and pops a couple depending on which child her caller ID says it is! LOL!

Juli

Annie, please tell Randy to get well soon. If he is not too sick, also tell him I said some people will do anything to get out of posting their daily quota.

OK. Tried to post this earlier, but lost the post. Reminder to self - it's important to COPY the message before posting.

Hey, did ya' miss me? :smooth:

I saw something earlier today about countdown timers. I came across this link that will let you determine the amount of time between any two dates you want. http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html

I also saw something about ear plugs. I'll stick a few extra pair in our bag. If anybody thinks they need some, let me know on-board and I'll fix you up.

Hello gang,
Its me Bobby here,

Randy- I hope you get well soon

The4OFUs- you mentioned early that you bought space saver bags from sears i was wondering if they worked.

Well I will be back tomorrow night to read, we should go for at least 2000 posts by tomorrow. Since we have so many posts more than any other group I think that we should get something special or like make it a record.

well good night

Just thought I'd stop by for a quick hello. We just got back from a quick weekend cruise out of LA. Needed a dose of warm weather. Hope you have a good time.

Hi all - Thanks so much for the well wishes, pixie dust, and prayers... I'll let Randy know that you're all thinking of him.

I just got back from the hospital - they finally moved him out of emergency and into a room. I can't remember what I've already told you and I'm too tired to go back to my post so sorry if I'm repeating myself here... The doctor said that he will likely have to stay in the hospital on an IV drip for a couple of days, and then should be okay to come home and REST! He thinks we'll be okay with keeping our travel date of Jan. 28th... He might have to stick with chair dancing though if he still needs to rest...

Cap, I will pass on your message tomorrow... I think you are right! He's just trying to get out of posting... He'll probably ask me to post his daily quota as well as my daily quota... I tried to see if we could set up the lap top for him but the hospital doesn't have internet access available...

... and now back to our regularly scheduled cruise talk ...

Dorie - I would be happy to run with you on deck 4 but you will probably leave me in your dust after the first lap...

Cap - those weather forecasts sound wonderful!!

Tiiiigergirl - thanks for checking in... hope you had a great cruise and sorry we won't get to meet you this time around... maybe next year??

Jill - I LOVE the Florida mall. Our plan is to head down a couple of days early so that we can do our last minute shopping... it's the best!! They also have an Olive Garden in their food court - how awesome is that?!? (okay remember we are from Saskatoon and we have to drive to another province (6 hours) to get to an Olive Garden...)

Karyn - Gail and Gary are very special, wonderful people and I'm sure your son and his fiance were glad that if they had to get stuck, that it happened close to Gary and Gail...

Re - books - is anyone a Mary Higgins Clark fan? That's what I'm planning to be curled up with....

Have a great night everyone, and I'll sign off on Randy's behalf...

pirate: pirate: AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH Matey's EH!!!pirate: pirate:

Cap,
Where did you get those great forecasts? I didn't know anyone had them that far out. Sounds wonderful, oops, I mean MAGICAL!

Annie,
Please tell Randy that he'd better get well or I'll make him do the chair dance with me... that ought to get him better quick! Give him a hug for us, ok?

Whoever got the space saver bags, how much are they and did they work? I'd like to take our own pillows if they do, we are used to ours and sleep better with them if we can use those... if not, we'll be fine.

Night all,
Renae
