Nikki, you asked Judi about the electronic collars and invisible fence.

They absolutely do work.

DId you have it installed by a company, or do the "buy it and install it yourself" route?

We have to check this out I think - we just put the down payment on Buddy's new sister, and with 2 of these guys in the house, it's going to be crazy. We have 1 1/2 acres so I'd like to have a perimeter around the house for them to explore and get their energy out. Good to know they work! A cousin has one for her GIANT black lab, and it only works part of the time - I guess the dog is so big that she just RUNS full tilt and gets through the barrier at times? that's why no big dogs for us (plus we can only have non-allergenic dogs, and there ARE no big dogs really, other than Wheaton Terriers...)

Karyn, the weather forcast calls for cold with snow squalls on Monday and Tuesday. Warmer (so to speak) and no snow the rest of the week.

I was also born in our nationa capital, Washington, D.C. on September 28, 19 and 53.

HADD!!! :wave2:

Karyn, that's great that the princess wants to join the king and his court on the beach in Cozumel.

Maybe with all that royalty around me I'll get a free umbrella drink.

I'm glad Ty liked those silly little magnet things. The doctor said it was good therapy for me. :teeth:

Great to see you again, Scott and Grandma_x2. These other people really like to talk and it makes it really hard for us quiet and shy people to be able to sneak a word in, doesn't it?

Gotta run into town, 40 miles away, so we'll be gone for a while. Have a great day - hope everyone's favorite team wins today.

Dean

GO PATRIOTS!!!

3:15 kick off. They just pulled the tarp off the field at 1pm, and they're expecting 1-2 inches of snow to fall on the field before kickoff time.

:)

mornin' all ... just got back from church and brekkie... we've been talking about all the great food we are going to partake in on the cruise - can't wait for all that great fruit they have on board... I'm going to do some packing today also, and hope to do a really good house cleaning today... Karyn, thanks for the great hospitality last night... it was an excellent party!!

Hi guys,
I just got up, believe it or not... late night partying with all of you at Karyn's... Girls just wanna have fun:tongue:

This chair dancing is for shy people? That is SO not me! I don't have a shy bone in my body, but... I'll have to make do this trip.

As for packing tips, I have one that has done well for us for years. I always pack stuff in plastic bags that come from the dry cleaner, it keeps them fro wrinkling and they come out of the suitcase in perfect condition. I usually put a couple of shirts in each one, but my good dresses go in separate ones. If you don't have dry cleaning bags, garbage bags work fine for shirts.

Just back from Costco, went to check out the snorkle equipment that someone else talked about - nice stuff, but BIG...and I don't know that I want to drag it along with me! My mom mentioned maybe buying Tyler a set for his birthday - maybe if the kids have a set of their own... it comes with a backpack, and is really nice, actually. At $37.99 a piece, we'd have to rent at least twice on the cruise to break even?

We also got some really nice black non-wrinkle Hagar microweave pants for DH..he was just modelling them for me....mmm. $50 pants for 16, gotta love that! ;)

And our Pats are on a roll *knocks on wood*...

Hope you're all having a good afternoon as well!

Hi all,
We're back from shopping and Dean is taking a nap. Thought I'd peek in before starting supper. Was some party last night, looking forward to meeting you Jill. Dean has been ready for me to pack for months, so excited that I am really doing it now. It is cold here today 2 degrees, but not sure if is staying or if it is going to warm up.
Dean should be home some tomorrow with the holiday, I only work 3 days a week teaching preschool, 3 year olds on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the am, and 4 year olds Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the pm. So we will have a nice day checking in on all of you.
Really getting excited to meet ya'all and know we will have a blast.:sunny: Cheri

I just woke up from a nap with Luke. I guess I am not quite awake yet because I read this and thought I read microwave pants and I couldn't figure out what that was!!!

Maybe that's what the formal speedos are -- tuxs that were microwaved!

I love that mircoweave material; it travels well too!

Okay, I think I am awake now! That was some party last night, Karyn! I just caught up on the posts.

This board is crazy..500 posts in a week. If there is anything important going on, we need to create a summary for those of us who cannot read all of it.

Poor Scott, logging on to see what's up and I guess it's too much if you are away for a few days. I would say that the key thing might be to let everyone know where and when we are meeting for those who are interested. What did we settle on? Before or after the Safety Drill? And what's the verdict on the location? I think this has been established but I don't remember for sure myself.

I just checked the Key West cam and the Magic is still there and all lit up!

I am getting really excited!! We are almost down to single digits!!!

YES!!!!

Who doesn't love our Patriots!!

Of course this means that instead of snorkle gear, I'll be buying a jersey or two to help us celebrate the 2nd Superbowl appearance in 3 yrs...

I swear, I'm not really into sports, but when a team performs like our Pats have...it's just so much fun to watch with DS Tyler.

And what did he do 1/2 way into the game? Drew a picture and wrote a letter to the Pats, saying how great a team they are...and I'm off to mail it for him now, as he's never shown any interest in sports other than karate... :)

Dean, thanks for telling me where the paper is. I guess your tip is improved from nothing to a glass of orange juice. There's still improvement needed to get to the "beer" class tip. :)

Nikki, regarding the dog fence, we "bit the bullet" and had it professionally installed, because we had two dogs, a big area, and I had never seen it done. If I ever have another new house, I'll do it myself, before the sod is put down. I've repaired it several times where the cable company, lawn aeration crew, and sprinkler repair guy (wait - that was me) accidently cut it. The wall unit in the garage beeps if the wire is but.

Dean - I thought you lived "IN a small town". You said you've "got to run into town - about 40 miles". Do you live that far out?

Sorry I'm late getting back today - after the Sunday services we went out to lunch with some friends, then to some other friends for a chat and some dessert, and then that Sunday afternoon nap called. I thought the sun's angle would move west and wake me up. Instead it went down and I napped for two hours. I'll be able to be checking this board at 2:00 AM now.

Hi guys, I told you it would be a long day for me! Well, the crowds are thinning. I just dropped Randy off at Midway airport he's flying back to Seattle in about an hour. Collin and Katie left to drive back to Kentucky at the same time we went to the airport. Derek and Elaina are driving to Ithaca tomorrow. Which will leave Princess Jill and I alone here for a couple days. Maybe we can get the cruise packing sorted out!

Long day, church, SS, then dinner out w/ a bunch of friends, some packing then Randy to the airport. I need a NAP!

I'm still wore out from the party last night! Thanks for coming everybody!

Karyn

The party last nite wore me out. Had to take a little nap to catch up.

Kim, I did the same thing as you. I thought it said microwave and I couldn't figure it out for a minute. Congratulations on the win, Nikki. You should win the MVP for the game for on-line support.

Sorry to confuse you, Cap. We DO live in Tiny Town, SD with only 750 people. All we have here is a small grocery and a hardware. When we want anything special, or a decent meal out on Sunday, we put on our good bib overalls and head to the closest bigger city, Mitchell, about 40 miles away.

Looks like we're closing in on 1,800 posts - wow, seems like we are like the energizer bunny and just keep going, and going, and

Dean, thanks for the clarification. So Tiny Town doesn't even have a WalMart. Bet you put a lot of miles on your car each year.

Gary - where's our co-chair this afternoon? Given up on us?

Karyn - Hope the family cleaned up for you and didn't leave it all for you and Jill. No party tonight, so you can turn in early.

Dean - I understand about the Internet being down problems. Until I retired, I had two different broadband services, one personal and one paid for by work, so I always had a backup. Now I'm down to one and get very upset if the service is down.

Renae, I saw a neat example of packing in a travel catalog this week (think it was L.L.Bean, but maybe Land's End). It looked like everything was neatly rolled and stacked in rows. I've heard some people say that rolling clothes when packing virtually eliminates wrinkles. Of course Dean, Gary, Randy-eh, and I only have to pack a few speedos and a t-shirt, so that should be easy. ;) It's much more difficult for you ladies.

Hi everyone. I've had the most horrible weekend. I manage a shopping center and our extra-cold weather froze and broke a bunch of water pipes and sprinklers. The fire department, police and alarm company were calling me every 15 minutes. They had water GUSHING from every door in the back of the shopping center. I've spent most of the weekend on the phone with tenants, plumbers, maintenance people and the owner as well as all the security people mentioned above. NOT FUN. Luckily the main area that flooded is empty and scheduled for demolition and reconstruction very shortly, an old supermarket. The thought of all that water damaging tenant merchnadise is mind-boggling.

Thursday afternoon we upgraded our accounting software from a DOS based version 4 to a version 13. Leaping that many versions is bound to cause problems and boy it did. It took most of Thursday and Friday to get everything over and balanced.

I NEED A VACATION!

Thanks for your kind e-mail Dean. I just was submerged (pun intended) in problems.

Cap,
Could that travel company have been TravelSmith? I don't get LL Bean, but I do get (and adore) Land's End. I got one last week with no packing ideas shown. I do roll everything I can, but for dress shirts and dresses, I hang them in plastic bags. Between trips, I just leave the bags in the hanging bag so I can find them when I need them.

Someone mentioned an over-the-door shoe bag to organize toiletries, I use a roll-up-toiletries bag that is about 1'x3' and fits on the hooks on the backs of the bathroom doors. It works great and holds everything we take into the bath. I love that thing! I don't know where to find them because mine was given to me, but if you can find them, they are invaluable.

Karyn, you have my sympathies, after all that partying, to have everyone leave and you still have packing for the move to do. I wish I could be there to help, but I'm kind of hooked on staying warm... sorry,
Renae

Hi,
I am so sorry to hear about your awful weekend! My DH was on a team installing new electric systems in a mall here in Orlando a couple of years ago when they had a major flood after a big rainstorm. It was really bad and a lot of big stores lost a huge amount of merchandise. I'm glad the area affected in your flood was mostly empty. I hope it is all cleared up soon and that you can keep some of your thoughts on your great cruise in even more water... at least it's supposed to be there!
