Another proud member of the GOP here. Can't wait for the RNC and for election day for that matter. I have been watching the DNC just to "be informed." It's entertaining at best. :p

The DEMS have been warning you about possible terror attacks???????

We have had so much news about secuirty changes to our trains, buildings etc. due to possible terror attacks for the last few months.

And then they go and set off fireworks at MIDNIGHT on a Monday without telling us...

My best friend lives right in Boston and she was terrified.

Another GOP'er here. Go "W". Got my sticker for my car today that says W04. :thewave: :thewave: :thewave: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm sure the other pro-Kerry folks will chime in once we're done listening to the next President of the USA accept the nomination. :D

Glad you're enjoying your little party. Too bad some people had to lose a weeks worth of business for it. (Ie. the street vendor who shut down his cart, the dance teacher whose students couldn't get to their classes this week, the people whose companies closed for the week without pay...)

They really appreciate it.

Oh, it's now a party. I thought both the Republican and Democrats had national conventions. I guess only the RNC is rightly entitled to a "party". I'm sure there'll be NO citizens inconvenienced by it though, huh? Having a convention in your town/state is an honor. I would've been proud had either party held their convention here. I'm sure there are many businesses who benefited greatly by it.

It's time for a change!! I'm also listening to our next President's speech and I'm so glad to hear what he's saying--it's exactly what our country needs.

Another proud GOP voter here. Can't wait to hear what W has to say at the RNC. Isn't it great that Kerry can throw the blame for every single problem in America at Bush's feet. Isn't he an elected Senator? Oh, that's right...he doesn't feel the need to show up and vote. If the representation and decisiveness he's shown while running his campaign is any indicator, he would make a lovely president.

esmerelda, you do realize the Democrats didn't spin a wheel and decide which city they should piss off this time around, right?

There were security measures that needed to be taken because there were threats against both the DNC and the RNC. Security measures approved of by the Republican Governor. And don't think for a minute that there isn't going to be just as much, if not more, security and yes even aggravation to residents involved with the RNC.

Like my Mother always told me- Rather safe than sorry. And the fireworks were staged by event planners - not by the DNC, and weren't supposed to go off at midnight. My brother sure wasn't thrilled about flying back and forth from Nantucket every day on top of his normal shifts there so he could make sure the residents were safe and his SWAT team was on the ready. But he (a Republican) did it willingly to protect the residents of Boston in case of an attack.

My DH works in NYC and he, and many, many others, are working from home the entire week of the RNC. In Penn Station, only 2 of th 7 exits will be open, people will have to enter and exit in single file, and the estimate is at least one full hour to exit the staion upon arrival in the morning(!). Unfortunately, although it may be considered an honor to have one of these conventions in your hometown or city of employment, it's also a huge inconvenience for many people.

I'm sure it is an inconveniece, but it works for both parties and both hosts--not just the DNC host. On the upside, I'm sure it generates business in some respect as well.

Oh and you think that the RNC is not putting a cramp on NYers?

Hell they not only shut down a post office station to house the media needed, they're also building a bridge over Eighth Ave to connect the old PO to MSG. With a VP and a Pres. floating around how much is that going to screw up traffic and commuters (who happen to take the trains into Manhattan everyday underneath MSG).

Trust me....Boston is not the only one being put out by a political party's convention. I would have traded conventions with you any day of the week.

I am an independent and still have no clue who I want in office...I'm still leaning towards neither of them.

I'm a Libertarian, so I generally vote for neither Republicans or Democrats. I can't stand "W" nor can I stand most of his lackeys so I'm voting for Kerry.

Did you want a personal phone call? It's not like the fireworks were a spur of the moment thing, a look at the schedule of events would have told you about them.

If a few fireworks terrified your friend, she might want to consider therapy. It's really not normal to go off the deep end because of a fireworks display.....

Boston's minor inconveniences are nothing compared to what people in New York will have to put up with.

It's getting to be really funny watching the right wingers desperately hunt for something to ***** about....:rotfl:
