We are staying at the Poly :cool1: in October, thanks to the 40% off code we received. I just called today and asked to add the day before our trip to our reservation. The CM first told me it wasn't available. I asked her if it wasn't available because of the pin associated to our reservation and she did it again with out the pin and that was the reason. It is available the night before, but the pin isn't valid for the night before. She told me I had to book the night before with a new reservation. Ugggg. Why?? Is this true? If so am I correct that in thinking that we couldn't use our park tickets we currently have for our new first day, we have to buy a 1 day ticket for each of us. That wouldn't be worth the money to me. Which then makes me wonder why people switch resorts... Sorry I am rambling. What are the chances that they will make me switch rooms, I would have to check out and check back in again? It would stink if we would have to pack everything up.

And then an ADR question - Would I be allowed to book ADRs for all 10 days 180 days out from our first reservation or will I have to call back the next day to make dining reservations for the remaining part of my trip?

You more than likely will not have to switch rooms. But no matter what, you will have to check out and check back in again. Even if you are in the same room.

I guess for the other questions, you would need to specify if you are on a package or not. If not on a package, you can use your tickets whenever you want to.

Yes, we are on a package. We currently have 9 day park hopper passes with the water park + more stuff and the dining plan. She said that the 9 day park passes were on our original reservation so we couldn't use them till the 19th of October. We are trying to check in on the 18th, but since the pin isn't valid on the 18th, we have to make a seperate reservation. So confussing. I just don't know why you can make a reservation for the same hotel with a pin for some days and with out a pin for other days. If they can find a way to charge you more for weekend stays, they don't make you check out and check back in because the rates went up or down. Sorry rambling again.

There is definitely the chance that you will have to switch rooms. Make sure at checkin that you tell them you have the two reservations and they can try to link them.
You are on a Package Plan which includes Park Passes and the Dining Plan. That package begins on the 19th, not the 18th. Therefore you will not be able to use your Park Tickets nor your Dining Credits until the 19th after you check in for your package stay.
The 40% off code was only made available for a certain number of rooms on specific dates. It was either never available on the 18th, or the number of rooms available is now sold out. I don't see what is hard to understand.
You could always use the 18th as a travel day and then visit Downtown Disney once you are settled. That way you do not need to use park tickets. There are some excellent CS options in DTD, which are not that expensive if you have to pay OOP.
Whatever you decide you will be in Disney for either 9 or 10 days. Sounds like fun to me!
Have a Great Trip

I got a PIN in the mail and throuh email. They knew I would come back :-) I am not sure how Disney decides on who they send them out to. We normally try to go to Disney every other year and this was our year. I did log into their website and priced out various resort combinations to get an idea for prices. I also ordered their free vacation planning DVD. I am not sure if any of those three helped us get a PIN. It's only valid for certain dates.
