HI Dis friends,

Do you video-tape Christmas morning? And my second question,....do you view it years later??

For the past 8 years, we videotape Christmas morning and yet I realized this morning that we NEVER view it later on in life. Yes, we do watch my kids' growing up and other but always just fast forward the christmas opening presents.

I may decide not to video-tape this Christmas presents opening. Just them walking down the stairs and seeing the presents.

Anyone else?

I do a mix of recording and pictures and no, it seems like we rarely ever ever go back and watch them. Actually, we don't watch any of our home movies. :confused3 Maybe one day when the kids are a lot older we might??

I don't like taping- it detracts from the moment.
Also - you are probably going to think I am a nutcase -but I don't really enjoy watching old video- It is just a reminder that my babies are growing up so fast and they will never be little again.

You bet we do! And we watch it too!

My BIL told me they haven't watched video they took at WDW 2 years ago! :faint:

We have videotaped in the past, and realized it's actually pretty boring to watch people open presents for an hour.

We watch all our other home videos, though :)

Yes and Yes.

omg...it's a HOOT.

Keep in mine, my brother and I are in our late 20's...there are no "little kids" around...so we are all adults.

and we're THAT family...yes, i've been the first to drop the "f-bomb" on many christmas videos. (yeah, we're not traditional. heheh) Some people may be appalled at that and flame me...but that's the kind of family I'm from. we love it

but if you've seen some of the gifts we've exhachanged...you'd drop an f-bomb too! I nearly peed my pants laughing one year when my brother opened one gift.

my brother actually took all our old christmas tapes and put them on DVD's to give to my parents this year.

Yes in fact we were watching some from 20 yrs ago at my mom's on Sunday- my brother recently got engaged so the videos have to come out! We found some we had forgotten about- us doing a dance to the footloose soundtrack! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I have never laughed so hard in my life. We also taped Christmas Eve at Grandma's house that is also hilarouis to see- how aunts, uncles .cousins and grandparents were (hair :rotfl: ) We tape our DDs at home too.

I'm a video taper and we rarely ever watch anything we've recorded.

We have old videos from 15+ years ago and I keep saying I'm going to make time to watch them, but never do. Maybe when we're old and gray. :teeth:

I do have a few that I really treasure: our DS and DD's graduations from high school, DS's first wedding (he didn't want it video taped when he re-married this past October :(), DD's wedding, a video that our children made (with help from some adults) several years ago that shows pictures of them growing up from infants to where they were at the point the video was made, and one very, very special video of my parents that I took while I asked them questions about their childhoods, their marriage, jobs, hobbies, etc. Those I keep in the safe.

But Christmas ones we rarely watch, and last year's tape messed up because it wasn't wound tight enough and it's all jumpy and the voices are garbled so I don't know if I'm going to bother video taping this year or not. Maybe just a "once around the room" to get a bit of video of everyone BEFORE the actual present-opening begins, and of the holiday decorations but like someone else said, taping really detracts from the moment and I feel like I'm watching it all through the viewfinder.

Older DS just asked his GF to marry him, so you betcha! we'll be pulling out those old Christmas videos! (She has to see what she's in for!) Our boys had to sit at the top of the stairs "until Dad gets the videocamera ready" every year when they were little. I don't remember when we stopped video-ing Christmas morning...

I would say keep recording. I have a tape of me when I was 4 and my sister was 1. It is so cute to look back on. I think this was the first year we had the video camera.

Last year we did and my boys were hilarious. They were surprised with a dirtbike and fourwheeler.Something they thought they would never get.We have watched it many times.
