Remind me to change my travel starting in 2018 to May instead of Fall break. This is stressful. :sad2:

One is 100% of formation into tropical depression within 48 hours and headed straight back to those poor islands that were just hit. The other was just upgraded to a tropical storm this morning.

Lee is looking like it's going to die in the Atlantic. 15 is the one that worries me -- it's taking the same track as Irma.

I agree! We are never booking during hurricane season again either! I do hope those poor islands, esp. the US and British VI's, don't get hit again!

We rescheduled to Europe next May...and now I've been calling and canceling things like pier parking, pre-night hotel, trying to redo travel insurance to forward to new itinerary, etc. First world problems, I know!! But it has been stressful to rearrange everything on short notice, so like you, I think I will avoid the Caribbean this time of year in the future. :(

We are cruising in 2 weeks but out of NYC to Canada but who knows that area could be affected. Fingers crossed.

I don't know if I read an article or saw a tv report on this years Hurricane Season but I remember that they were saying this year would be very bad. I think that was back in May.

But let's be honest we don't want our vacation ruined but what's most important is the people on land and their properties.

Praying and hoping for the best!

I wouldn't worry much about Lee, it will likely die out in the middle of the Atlantic. (soon to be) Maria on the other hand will definitely affect some islands that really don't need another storm. Any affect on Florida or the East coast is beyond the 5-day. If there is anything good to say about it it is that they aren't expecting greater than a category 1 in the next 5 days.

I can say this season has been anticipated to be a bad one since at least April 2016 when I sent my sister-in-law a message warning her about scheduling her honeymoon in September this year. She is on the Dream right now, heading to WDW afterwards, looks like smooth sailing for her but she has spent the last week unsure what might happen.

Anyone remember how long it took Irma to get from way out there off Africa to the Carib and then again to FL? Seemed like it was FOR-EV-ER. We sail 10/7 and head to wdw 10/4 so I am watching closely at this point. We considered switching to 10/6 from NYC but I am worried if a storm was a problem they'd sent us north and that would stink!

Maria will be a hurricane by tomorrow. I'll be watching its track and spaghetti models closely we're on the 9/23

Now it looks to turn into a major hurricane and is heading similar route to Irma. Feeling awful for those islands. Hope they have gotten everyone out of there. Fingers crossed for your cruise too.

Tropical Storm Maria will very likely be a hurricane by the time the next model comes out (~3 hours). The current NOAA forecast only goes 5 days out, but they predict that it will be a category 3 hurricane just North of Dominican Republic as of 8am Friday morning and veering slightly to the North. Still a little too far out for the spaghetti models to be too accurate, but most of them do show it continuing to turn north before making it to CC.

So painful for these islands already battered by Irma. I hope Maria turns north before it can do significant damage to these already devastated islands.

That happened to us last year out of NYC with hurricane Matthew. Our 8 Day Bahamas WDW cruise turned into a Canadian cruise. We opted to still travel but not sure I would again this year if same thing happened

Hurricane watches have been issued for Antigua, Barbuda, St. Kitts, Nevis and Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Saba and St. Eustatius, St. Maarten, Dominica and Anguilla. Tropical storm watches are posted for St. Lucia, Martinique, Barbados and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Maria could in fact also hit the Virgin islands again. This would be disastrous given how many people lack shelter right now.

I remember seeing that which is what made me think of it. We finally decided yesterday we'd rather go western again than take a chance at rerouting to Canada. So fantasy western, here we come...again.

I am wondering could Maria affect our 1o/7 cruise?

I live in South Florida and we are still recovering from Irma. We are watching the next storm closely, and I predict (after watching the spaghetti plots) that it'll cross the islands and then swing up into the Atlantic, short of Florida. I doubt that we'll see two hurricanes run through here in that number of weeks (however that DID happen in 2004). We are planning a long weekend in Orlando next weekend and would really hate to have it spoiled by another bad storm so soon. All we can do is watch and wait....
