A productive weekend for me...

My advent reveal items are just about completed! The reveal gifts are wrapped, Advent Calendar Pieces are made, the clue scroll to the gifts are made, and the task scrolls for each day are made. All that is left to do is decorate the shoe holder (one of the over the door shoe bags) so it looks Christmas festive! I found some ribbon today, but I need I more contrasting pattern and then green material for the backing. I have to make this in the cover of the night so it will be a surprise.

I found a really cool Advent Calendar on Pinterest...adapted it for us this year!

Here is the link:

http://www.chicaandjo.com/2010/11/10/grinch-advent-calendar/
Instead of the Grinch book, the front has the number of the days til Christmas plus some kind of religious connection and the back of the card has a picture representing that connection (i.e. Read the Christmas story as told by St. Luke...then there is a picture of the nativity or the Legend of the Candy Cane...then there is a picture of a candy cane on the back).

I can't wait to hang it when the kids go to bed on November 30th...so it will be ready and waiting December 1st along with the return of Kirby, our elf on a shelf, who will explain the Advent Countdown to the kids in a form of a letter!

I am also excited today because something I ordered for my PTR gift came in and they are so cool. I can't wait to put my gift together at the cabin this week...and then hopefully get them mailed off as each of you leave on your trip so it is waiting when you get back...those that are not going on a Christmas trip will get something similar but not Christmas themed!

Does that get you all thinking and wondering? :rotfl2:

Since internet is spotty at the cabin, I am not sure how much I will be able to post...so you are getting my countdown to Day 27...wow I am going to pass the 30 day mark on Thanksgiving...now that is something to be thankful about!

Whether it is Seaworld or the Denver Zoo the kids love the opportunity to feed these crazy little birds...and so do I. Discovery Cove has an enclosure with them...

31. Yak & Yeti

I can't wait to try those fried wantons and the Yak Attack!

30. Discovery Island Trails

IMG_0404.jpg

I want to spend some time off the so called beaten path on Discovery Island for some great shots of the Tree of Life without a million people in my pictures. The last trail before you get to Africa is supposed to be one of the best for the Tree of Life.

29. Sci Fi Diner

100_0489.jpg

To tell you the truth this place was really never on my short list to eat at, until I decided to forgo the F! dining package at Mama Melrose. I think the kids will enjoy it...especially my car crazy boys.

28. Spiderman

ComixConnection3.jpg

The boys are going to love this ride at Universal.

27. Mickey Rice Krispe Treat

florida77.jpg

I don't know what Disney does differently to their rice krispe treats...maybe it is just the magic of being there that makes them so good.

Love the Sci-Fi. We always eat there when we go. I love the Rice Krispe treats as well. We always have to get them when we go for some reason. I always hate to eat them also though because I don't want to ruin them....haha On the cruise we went to the concierge party thing they have. It is complimentary. They gave these out with different things on them like chocolate, sprinkles, etc and I took one of each. :lmao: I couldn't help it. Then I didn't want to eat them because they looked so nice so I brought them all home.

Tuesday's Trivia
In the Little Mermaid when Ariel sees Prince Eric, what type of celebration was happening on the ship??

Monday's Trivia:
What are the two dogs names in Sword & the Stone? Who is their owner?

Sir Hector's dogs are Tiger and Talbot.

We love Sci Fi!! They changed the movies a bit between our last 2 visits. Also changed the dessert. I didn't like the cheesecake this last time, and it was always a fav with me. The food is ok, but the atmosphere is awesome!!!! I like vanilla coke, my dh gets some odd flavor in sprite. The glow in the dark ice cubes are cool too. Our favorite waiter is the tall Tony. He's been there for ages. He is great!! He usually works the first rows.

Aren't the rice krispie treats made in Ohio? I remember touring a candy factory on the way to Carrollton, OH from Cleveland. Back then they did most of Disney's packaged candies.

This is the place we went to years ago.

That looks really cool! Maybe I will make it for Damien next year! I keep thinking that we should have an advent calender, but we are going to be gone for 10 days during the countdown, so I'm not sure! I hope that you get everything doe at the cabin and have fun! Enjoy cooking, I hope that you get lots of help!

That place looks really cool to tour! And yummy! Maybe when we drive to Arkansas in April we can stop and tour!

Once again... I :worship: to you! :rotfl:

This is going to be so awesome for your family! And we also love the Sci Fi! It's just a fun experience!

..:hug::hug: That is so sweet.

And... I had to laugh at the pic you used for the Yak Attack. Some unsuspecting photographer doesn't know that his/her photo has been used probably numerous times in various reports. (at least twice...once in your and once in mine)

I am very very impressed with how organized your box of advent stuff looks!!! Your kids are soo lucky you are their mom.

Also, thank you so much for sharing that advent calendar. years ago when I just had three kids I made each of them one. They never were large enough pockets... and after a number of years are not holding up. Something like this would be awesome for Zoe.!

:grouphug: I completely agree. The Disney planning and the everyday ranting outlet has been wonderful!
