2 Castles, 2 Send out 2011 & Ring in 2012...12 Days of Christmas

Still looking for Haunted Mansion themed food ideas! Come on girls, I know you can earn more points!

Did you check on Family Fun's website? Their Halloween party ideas would probably work for some things!

I just have one thing to say....

ADD THE DAY! GET THE CHEAPER AIRFARE... relish in the magic as long as you can before you come back to this side of our little world. :goodvibes

Remind me... your kids have no idea, right? You are on the surprise team with me?

Yep...I am on the surprise team too...Christmas EARLY morning reveal and then head out to the airport for a flight at 7:50 am.

I am so excited about my reveal. I had planned a scavenger hunt for Christmas morning, but since we are leaving early, there is no time. Instead I have turned in into an advent calendar...they will have clue, have to find the gift, open gift (things that have to do with trip but don't scream trip), and then perform some kind of family task. I have gathered up all the little gifts with the exception of a few that are food items...stay tuned for December 1st!

Today's Question-

That is what my mind is yelling at me...but being away for 2 weeks has dh :scared1: I will probably make my decision around Sept. 15th.

Universal Studios Orlando
Hollywood

Hollywood is the smallest “set” at USO. I really liked the theming in this area, really makes me feel like I am in “Hollywood.”

Terminator 2: 3-D Battle across Time[

unviterminator.jpg

Theater Attraction with Preshow
Universal Express Pass Option
20 minute show, holds 1,100 people at a time

Personal Rating: A (not to be missed)

Terminator 2 is a theater attraction. USO spent nearly $60 million on this attraction alone, and I have to admit it was well worth it. If you have not seen the Terminator movies, don’t worry the pre-show will catch you up to speed and gets the plot around the attraction up to speed. I found the pre-show to be pretty “hokey”…but then again, I thought “What a great job to have , if only I was a little younger.” No, I have never seen the movies, but I can recite the famous line…”I’ll be back.” I sure wish Arnold had not disappointed me as a human being the last few months; then again he is human and not some cy-borg. My DH however, has allowed the boys to watch the movies (no flames please, I was not involved in this decision…but I got to handle the nightmares that followed). After the preshow you are ushered into the theater…word of advice, go as far down towards the exit as you can (after the show you won’t be waiting for everyone else to leave). The show itself is AMAZING! I loved every moment of it and promise not to reveal any of it in my PTR! The only downside, and it is a downside for all attractions at USO & IOA, you are dumped right into the gift shop for the movie after the show!

Universal Horror Make-Up Show
Theater Show, 25 minutes

Personal Rating:
None, did not see it

I am not sure why we missed this on our trip! But, I am looking forward to experiencing it with my family and I know Boo and Goo will love it! This is basically a behind the scenes show, where the art of horror movie make-up is explored in a laugh filled show. Beware that Universal rates this show PG-13. From all the books and websites I have read, this is Universal’s Best Kept Secret. Touring Tip: Every seat is a good seat, but if you want to be selected as a volunteer you would be seated in the middle, close to the stage. ..And it helps to be a young woman (hmmm…think we could get Ab volunteered?).

Lucy, a Tribute

univrodeosets2.jpg

Museum-style display

Personal Rating: None, did not see it

Again, how did we miss this one? I LOVE LUCY! I know we had talked about going in, but in all the rain I think we just forgot! This is a walk-in display of Lucy memorabilia…photos, letters, scripts, costumes, and Emmy awards. If we have time, I plan to take it in, probably will go through it pretty fast since the kids really have no idea who Lucy is!

Other Things to Note in Hollywood:

Hollywood CelebritiesThroughout the day you will encounter stars from yesterday (Lucy, Desi, Marilyn) and famous cartoon characters (Simpsons, Scobey and Friends)…although I do not remember seeing any on our visit! You can take pictures and collect autographs.

Trick Photo SpotNear the lagoon, you can find a place to take a photo that looks like you are actually in front of the Hollywood sign in CA.

Beverly Hills BoulangerieThis is a great little fast food restaurant, we ate here. It serves an array of pastries for breakfast as well as sandwiches for lunch and dinner. It was pretty reasonable too…about $8 for sandwich, drink, salad, and a pastry for dessert!

Mel’s Drive In
univmels.jpg

While it looked really neat, I have read the food is not so great. Think American Graffiti and Happy Days…then you know what is on the menu.

Back to the Future Car

Look what I found behind Mel’s! I know the boys will love see this car, even though they have never seen the movie…it is a car and a fun surprise to find when I visited.

Finally done with my tour of Universal Studios...on to Islands of Adventure starting this weekend! I can't wait to tell you about and show you the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

I don't remember any of those from our trip in 2003. Where has my mind gone??? :confused3

Looks like you will be having an awesome day!!

OMG, I totally missed that. Is it too late now?

That would be Fun and Fancy Free.

This was Disney's 9th animated feature and the last one where Walt voiced Mickey. The film has two segments. It is in the Mickey and the Bean stalk one that the harp sings and helps the trio.

Mickey and the beanstalk? If that's the movie you can serve steamed edamame as bean stalk seeds and eat green bean casserole. Maybe Giant size burgers (just make big burgers. If it's not the movie I have no idea then.....

I would have guessed Fantasia, but I guess I would have guessed wrong.

You will love the Horror Make-up show. Get there about 15-20 minutes early and enter on the left side, about 15th in line. You will be on the front row and someone in your party may be picked to participate! :)

Yep, 1 point for the answer, 1 point for WD voice, and 1 point for bonus trivia!

Great suggestions!!! Giving you a point!

I had actually planned to do this movie for WD Birthday on December 4th for one of our movie nights...but instead I am incorporating WD Birthday with movie night and our "secret/surprise countdown". The gift for this day is going to be the MK game I found. We are going to eat chili (WD favorite meal...although he was a hormel guy and I plan to make my own) and either bread budding or lemon pie for dessert (his favorite desserts...now you know why there are so many variations of bread pudding at WDW...bread pudding happens to be my favorite dessert and comfort food). For the movie I have going to get the MK/WDW parks videos from netflixs.
