2 Bdrm Suite w/Verandah vs. 2 category 5's???

The DH and I are planning a trip for next year with the DD 5 and DS 4. Grandma and Grandpa are also coming. We are considering booking a 2br suite (category 2) instead of two separate category 5's.

I would appreciate your thoughts and experiences. I know there are only a few of the 2br units and that we would have to plan far in advance which is fine.

Considering there are only two Category 2 staterooms on each ship, you may find it is much easier to find availability for two Category 5 staterooms. And you could request connecting staterooms if you wanted. Finally, two Category 5 staterooms will be less expensive than a Category 2 stateroom.

With only 2 category 1 and 2 category 2 suites available even a year ahead is usually not long enough in advance to book one. We booked a category 1 suite almost 2 years ago for this Nov and at that time there was only 1 category 1 suite left for the rest of the year. In addition the price of a category 2 suite with 4 adults and 2 children ranges from $9200 to $14,000 (depending upon season, early booking discounts etc.) while the cost for 2 category 5 rooms with the 2 children is ranges from $6,600 to $12,000. Having said that, if you can get a reservation for a category 2 suite and you can swing the extra cost, there is nothing like one of these suites for the vacation of a lifetime. By the way the category 5 rooms are terrific and having 2 adjoining rooms with your family would also be heaven. Either way you will
have a great experience.

Thanks for your input. I don't think we will want to wait two years!! Maybe we can try 2 cat 5's and if that's not enough room move up the next time.

Did you find that you were in your cabin alot anyway?
