Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

The roof that covers the walkway around the ground level outside just past beaches and cream to the pool that the slide empties into.

We’re booked for Beach Club for 7 days starting Sept 12. We’re considering the free water park entry the first day but with SAB in our backyard we’re wondering if it just may be better to hit the parks on day 1, come back a little early and then take advantage of our home resort pool for a while. Just the time to get to and back from the water park, the lines for slides, etc. makes me think that a relaxing evening at SAB would be better time spent.

I’m wondering if anyone else staying at YC/BC have similar thoughts.
If this was my choice I would skip the water park and opt for a park day and a relaxing evening at the pool.

A couple of years ago (so before the perk) we debated whether or not to do Typhoon Lagoon based on staying at YC, but decided to buy AP discounted tickets to TL during the Poly portion of our split stay instead. We are not really slide people though, the only thing we did was Miss Adventure Falls. But we enjoy the lazy river and shallow end of the wave pool. I don't like the lazy river at SAB because it's always crowded and it's way too deep for me to feel safe.

On this trip we just got back from, we didn't use the water park perk on arrival day but did the day we switched from BWI to Poly. Travel time is negligible, it took us less than 10 minutes to Uber over there from BWI. We were going to rideshare to Poly when we left but the buses come fast and furious, we had just missed one but another came in like 5 minutes. Buses were fast at Disney Springs too. We didn't find the lines or crowds to be bad, we got there around 11a after breakfast at Cake Bake but we had rented an umbrella. I don't know what time you're getting in, but the first couple of hours it's open are fine to do the slides, we noticed lines were pretty short if non-existent.

Literally having this debate!!

I’m thinking about doing TL, never been. I did BB on Sun (split-stay) and arrived at 10:20am- oof! It seemed quite busy. I think it was 10 mins just to get in the park. I wanted to try the chair lift because I’d never done it and had read the wait gets long, it was about 20 mins. Up top a 20-30 min wait for the main raft slide, which was rather boring honestly. Sick of standing in sun I hit the lazy river which was nice but I got out pretty quick as I knew I needed to get my lunch order in. Glad I did, it surged in business not too long after that and when I tried to do the lazy river again after lunch it was miserably busy. To top it off you can’t read a book in the lounge chairs as the backs don’t move, and I had planned on doing that for my afternoon.

Overall, it was my first water park experience at Disney and all it did was make me wanna go to VB hahaha (8:30am entry with EE there!). So, I’m debating leisure park morning or quick TL trip? Both would have me at SAB by lunch as I’ll need an afternoon off my feet.

tbf, I would avoid the water parks on Sundays because that's a very popular day for people to begin their trips. Folks coming down for the average week long stay almost always get in then. Weekends also see more locals. That was one reason we opted against using ours on arrival day, we got in on Sunday and it was the day before Memorial Day. Midweek is always less crowded at the water parks and I think the perk doesn't move that needle too much because few people get in on a Tuesday or Wednesday by comparison. I go back next Wednesday for a long holiday weekend and it's the only reason I'm considering BB.

Yeah, a Sunday warm weather BB 10:20 arrival is about 50 minutes too late (IMHO) - I'm either get there way early or mid afternoon when things are starting to turn. The water parks are a lot more popular with locals than I think we all appreciate and my read just observing things is that the arrival day benefit has also been well utilized.

So since this after 9/7 (the last date they've announced both water parks open) we're talking TL here. Early September is still often brutally hot, in the possible tropical zone, and also a time when (generally speaking) most school age families are back to school, making September among the lowest crowd windows of the year. Broadly speaking I suspect it'd be a good crowd level day at TL. The last H20 Glow event for the summer is the following day.

I think for me it'd come down to your travel specifics and personal preferences. I could probably make an equal case for just chilling around SAB, or trying to hit TL. Both have some convenience / logistics pros cons.

From a pure fun/entertainment perspective - SAB may be pretty cool relative to other WDW resort pools, but nothing tops TL and that wave pool for hours and hours of fun for our crew. Of course YMMV based on your ages/preferences/etc.

I would skip your free water park day and use SAB. It takes on average 90 minutes or more each way unless you use a rider share.

It really depends on the mix of your travel party, do you have teens that would really enjoy the different slides and the wave pools vs what may already be available where you are traveling from water parks.

It’s just mama and me. Both in our early 60s but so occasionally like doing a water parks, but maybe not to the extent younger adults do.

I appreciate all the responses. Mama and I are discussing it. I’ll have my detailed itinerary ready in a week or so, and we’ll have our decision in that. Will certainly post that itinerary for comment.

Wait, how does it average 90 minutes each way? Are there a lot of stops? I am planning to go on arrival day but don't love the idea of 45-75 minutes on an airconditioned bus in wet swim wear.

Well from YC / BC to get to BB you need to wait for a bus to AK, then wait for a bus to BB.

To get to TL, you need to wait for a bus to DS, and then wait for a bus to TL. Oh your AC time will not be that long since you will waiting outside for a period of time waiting for the (2) bus hops.

Is this the same from POFQ? We were planning to hit TL before switching to BC.

I have to wonder what they are actually doing to the slide - if anything

EDIT - didnt see the caption about a lot of workers. Hopefully done soon?

Thank you, Dave. So it sounds like AK is the only resort with a direct bus to BB? Will it stop at Kidani or only at the main lodge? Trying to decide if I want to combine it with a lunch at Sanaa.

The slide was always a little bumpy, wondering if they are smoothing it out at the joints.
