My SIL wants to take her 9 grandchildren to WDW (4 girls, 5 boys; all between the ages of 9 and 14).

She would prefer to stay onsite, but I'm assuming there are rules as to having at least ONE adult in each of the 3 rooms that'll be needed...or is it possible to get an adjoining room just for 4 of the kids?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Otherwise, a large rental home would be another option (but that would require transportation issues....)

Thanks!

... would be for her to rent points from a DVC owner and stay in a grand villa (which I believe would accommodate 12 people). She'd be able to stay with all of them this way, and not worry about the potential for having them spread out all over a hotel (if Disney even allows this). If I were going with that many people (esp. kids) to WDW, this is definitely what I'd do. I've rented points from numerous DVC owners and found them to be incredibly helpful. The number of grand villas is very limited (only at OKW and BWV), however, and they're not cheap. I would guessimate that, depending upon what time of year they went, it would be as much as $1100 a night for weekend nights (Friday and Saturday) and $800 per night for Sun-Thurs. nights at BWV and $1000 a night for weekend nights and $450 a night for weekday nights at OKW... I guess when you think about how much 4 rooms each night could cost, however, this doesn't sound like too bad a deal!

Anyway, hope this wasn't too confusing... If you have any additional questions, let me know!

Take care,
Sarah

She could get two Fort Wilderness cabins, one adult and a variety of kids in each. That would be a much cheaper option than a Grand Villa.

Wow, I thought the cabins only accommodated 5 max... Sounds like there may be 11 in this group. How much per night do the cabins cost?? If she took the kids for weeknights only and stayed at OKW, $450 per night seems like a pretty good deal to me. Could she get 2-3 cabins for that price??

Thanks for the info.,
Sarah

I would call CRO and ask. I know when you have children they guarntee connecting rooms. What I don't know is if they have three that connect.

Going durning value season, staying at an All Star's she could stay for $165, plus tax each night, with codes.

If price isn't any issue, they have suites that will accomidate. If I remember right, the King Kamehameha at the Poly sleeps 6 or 8, but you can add on up to three additional bedrooms.

Good luck!

Hmm - I hope she's planning on taking at least ONE other adult along! 9 kids to keep up with at WDW is a lot for ANYONE - let alone a grandma!

If you go in value season you may be able to get the rooms at the All Stars for $49 each (per night). You could have one adult in a room that doesn't connect and then two rooms that connect with an adult in one of them. Yes, Disney allows this. We took my niece and nephew and they had their own room. They would have to note on your ressie that you need three rooms together-two connecting. Three bathrooms and room for all of your luggage and things is worth the three rooms. The kids would love the theming and the foodcourt is so convenient- just get them each a refillable mug.

Sounds like 3 rooms at the all stars is a good option. Yes, if there is no adult in the room, disney will guarantee connnecting rooms. I belive only 2 can connect, so maybe a couple of the older kids can be in a non-connecting room. Only the adults in this group will know how to make the sleeping arrangments. I believe the FW cabins come in different sizes to accommodate different groups, but still nothing big enough to take care of this size.

The Fort Wilderness cabins each sleep 6. That is 1 set of bunk beds, 1 double bed in the bedroom, and 1 very comfortable Murphy bed in the living room. They could fit 12 in 2 cabins.
