2/9/2013 - Fantasy Mardi Gras Cruise *****

WOW!!! 2 weeks......I'm so jealous!!! This is our first Disney Cruise and we are getting really excited! I'm almost through with our FE gifts!! I think they have turned out really cute! Hope you guys like them

Hi all, my family and I will be on this cruise and we cannot wait! Our kids don't know yet and will be getting a call from Goofy the day before we leave! With us will be:

DH-Oscar (Me)
DW-Shannon
DS-Mateo (Turns 7 the day the cruise leaves!)
DD-Kayla (3)

We are new to all this and we just found this forum today. We signed up for FE and are very excited about getting to know our fellow cruisegoers! We currently live in Toronto (moved here for my job) but we're originally from Chicago (Go Bears, Cubs, Bulls, Blackhawks).

See you in less than a month!

We are also surprising DS8 with the cruise. We can't surprise DD16 - too many activities, work, school, etc. for her to schedule around.

We've managed to keep it a secret for an entire year! If we can make it through the next 3 weeks without him finding out it will be a miracle! DH has "slipped" numerous times and almost said something about the cruise in front of him.

I haven't completely decided on how to handle the "big reveal." I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any. He will be going to school in the morning before we leave.

I am starting to do the last bit of prep before we leave and was wondering if anyone here was a geocacher and was going to do some caching while we're away. It's always more fun (and faster lol) when you have company.

If you dont' know what that is look it up. geocaching.com and we'll be more then happy to have you tag along for your first cache!!

I can't wait, less then 20days before we leave!! My coworker is leaving on her disney cruise today and I'm soo jealous, well maybe not. She doesn't get Mardi Gras and Valentine's day on the boat!! At least my husband don't have to worry about making reservations and taking me out for dinner this year. lol

I have a travelbug on me that needs to end up in the Netherlands eventually... maybe Castaway Cay, StT or PR would be a good waypoint for it! I checked for caches on CC, and only found 1 that's active... do you have more info?

I only saw one for CC as well but there are a couple in PR and i haven't checked StT yet. Buuut that doesn't stop me from taking a really good look around and creating a ghost cache!!!

Wow! I thought I was doing a pretty good job of planning for our cruise but then I came across something called "fish extender" which, after some investigating, led me to this board and, oh my!, I've got nothing on you guys. My poor neglected children (8&5) would have loved the fish extender idea but, alas, I have missed the boat - pun totally intended! I've never been accused of being crafty anyway so that will make me (and you) feel better about that. I'm reading through a lot of these posts and getting some good info for this and future trips. As you can tell, this will be our first ever cruise and your enthusiasm is contagious! Thank you for that. I will come back often to see what's new.

Thanks for the tip, Christmas. I was actually planning on bringing a few little surprises for them with a Valentine theme. You won't believe this but I just realized while reading this forum that we would be on the cruise for Valentine's Day. I've been so focused on what to pack and what to book that I hadn't noticed. Crazy!! I so wish I had found you all sooner . Happy cruising!

Its okay, our first Disney cruise years ago we missed getting in the fe exchange. So I made my fish extender and put surprise gifts for my kids daily. They were very happy and I know exactly what to get as gifts. You could still do it.

Christmas...that is an AWESOME idea...We are in the FE but I still like the gift to our DD each day.....Let's see if I have time to pull it off.

Sadly, our city, Ottawa, Canada, has the distinction of being the coldest Capital in the world today! I need a dose of Caribbean right now!! Can't wait! 12 days till we are out of here!

Getting excited. I am running a large event on feb1-3, then home, laundry, pack and off to the airport on the 6th! Can't wait! Finally here!

I worry about this as well. I babysit my 18 month old nephew. Despite my request to his mom that she not bring him when he is sick, she still does. He's been coughing, sneezing and dripping for the past 2 weeks. I'm sure we will get it. I'm just praying it comes and goes before we leave.

This what I would do if she wants to do this wear one of those masks drink lots of orange juice. If you feel like it ask her to supply the masks

We are also trying to stay well. We are invited to a Super Bowl Party and already told my friend to check for sick guests before we walk over. If anyone is sick we will stay home. Rethinking if this is a good time to cruise each year with the threat of flu in the air.
