2/9/2013 - Fantasy Mardi Gras Cruise *****

Hi all intrepid sailors.

We are Jane and Dave Young, both in our 50s and this will be our 4th DCL cruise.

Although having spent 35 nights already even after this cruise we will still be silver castaway club members as you may notice we've been on a couple of transatlantic and are bitterly disappointed that DCL has not announced details of what the Magic is doing after the refit.

We live in the north west of England, Wirral,to be precise, home of the 2014 Open golf championship.

We have a boomerang kid, who refuses to travel with us thank goodness.

Pre cruise we'll be having three nights at All Star Music, (what a great deal)

Then post cruise two weeks at HGVC Sea world.
Now I know this might seem hard to believe (being English) but we are BIG Pittsburgh Pirates fans and we hope to catch spring training with them and the Braves during our trip.

We're looking forward to meeting up with you all at some time during the cruise, we intend attending the first meet on departure day.

We are counting down the days until we sail, here in DE. The closer it gets the more excited my daughter becomes. I recently told her about the FE and what we were going to gift. We had so much fun tonight with some of the assembly, she didn't realize and we worked through dinner and straight through to bed time. Yeaa! One less night of TV!

Cruise docs made it to the UK today Just spent several hours filling in all the online docs to get the 5 of us to the States and on the ship. All done now, just the packing to start. Less than 3 weeks till we leave home

So my DH is a little paranoid and wants to get organized with the FE. Does it matter when you deliver your stuff, is there a schedule, do we give out stuff every day or only on a certain day? Is the 'Pluto' group closed?

Hi Dis Pro, and welcome! (And welcome to the FE list as well... I took a break from writing this to approve your registration!)

If you're new to this Fish Extender thing, or feeling confused - take a deep breath, relax, and read FE 101.

You have no assigned day or time for delivering things - what, when, and how often are all up to you! Some people chose to align with events - on past cruises we've seen people mark Valentine's Day, Superbowl, Pirate's Night, and even movie premiers. I bet Mardi Gras will be popular this year. Anyway, there are no rules - you do what works for you!

Now, to specifics for our cruise. Our "Roll Call" and FE List are managed on-line, and you sign up by filling out a form. Once I've completed your registration and shared the on-line spreadsheet with you, you can either visit the spreadsheet or use another form to get information from it sent to your email address. Have a look at the first post in this thread for links to the forms.

We decided early on that to conserve luggage space (and sanity) it would be nice to avoid having a huge FE list (some cruises have 30+ staterooms), but also that it would suck to turn people away. It would be nice to know well in advance how many people & staterooms we were dealing with, and what the names and ages of those people were. So far, so good!

We have three FE "sub lists" at this point, with a target size of 13 staterooms per list. (...so you can buy things in dozens!) Mickey and Minnie were set up first, once we had enough staterooms. Although we'd planned that they would be static, we have had some changes as people changed vacation plans and left the cruise. The Pluto list has remained open, but (as of a few minutes ago) is at 13 staterooms.

SO - The FE List is closed.

I'd hoped to open another list, but with just three weeks before we fly out I think instead that we should wind it up. I'll maintain a wait list if anyone else is interested, in case of late drop-outs.

DS-Mateo (Turns 7 the day the cruise leaves!)
DD-Kayla (3)

We are new to all this and we just found this forum today. We signed up for FE and are very excited about getting to know our fellow cruisegoers! We currently live in Toronto (moved here for my job) but we're originally from Chicago (Go Bears, Cubs, Bulls, Blackhawks).

We are in Ontario too (Thunder Bay though). Be careful of the call from goofy, that you have a back up plan. My kids were supposed to get a call on Christmas morning to let them know about the trip (their Christmas gift) and to this day the call still has not come. I reported it but didn't get much response and was told maybe it was because we were in Ontario. Good luck an I hope it works for you. We are all getting very excited. My DS asks every day if we can leave today, I wish we could (-40 here).

This will be the second of two back to back cruises for my kids and I and the third of three back to back to back cruises for my parents. It will be my DS's (4) 5th Disney cruise, mine and my DD's (14) 9th Disney cruise, and my parents are platinum (I lost track of counting theirs). We are celebrating my parents 40th anniversary and 60th birthdays.

Wow! I thought I was doing a pretty good job of planning for our cruise but then I came across something called "fish extender" which, after some investigating, led me to this board and, oh my!, I've got nothing on you guys. My poor neglected children (8&5) would have loved the fish extender idea but, alas, I have missed the boat - pun totally intended! I've never been accused of being crafty anyway so that will make me (and you) feel better about that. I'm reading through a lot of these posts and getting some good info for this and future trips. As you can tell, this will be our first ever cruise and your enthusiasm is contagious! Thank you for that. I will come back often to see what's new.

We are totally neighbors. My wife goes to Niagara all the time for a Target run and to pick up mail from there. So far we've been able to keep it quiet. Getting anxious over here!

I sure hope the call comes through. It shouldn't have anything to do with us being in Ontario as someone who works for me is currently on the cruise and they received the call on Christmas morning! We cannot wait, I'm sure it'll be the first of many to come!
