2/9/2008 - Valentine Cruise 7 Night Western - Anyone On The Love Boat ?

Again, according to DCL, we won't be at the dock in time to do the morning excursion with the dolphins. I have never done the western caribbean cruise so I am not sure how accurate the times posted on disneycruise.com are. Anyone know anything about that?

Okay. we're (3 of us) booked on the Catamaran Echo in KW for the afternoon excusion. I think DS will like this.....he's mentioned swimming with the Dolphins in the past, but I'm not sure I agree with the way those are ran. And I think this looks great!

I hope everyone had a great holiday! I just wanted to check in and say DS9 was excited to hear the news about our upcoming cruise! He went around telling everyone he seen. It took him a minute to understand when we were going though....even with all the good hints. He can't almost believe he'll be on a cruise ON his actual birthday!

OK, I am really getting excited now! It is hard to believe that we are just about 6 weeks away from our cruise! This is our first cruise and I believe that I have posted this before but it is a surprise for our kids(DD6, DS11, &DS13). We are heading to WDW for 4 days prior to the cruise and then we plan on telling them the night before the cruise with video camera at the ready! We are having dinner on 2/8 at San Angel Inn and plan on telling them there. I am going to have our server bring over a card that will say:

Here at Disneyworld we hope you've had fun
I'm here to tell you the fun's just begun
Look to your parents for the big news....
(I will hold up a sign that says
WE'RE GOING ON A DISNEY CRUISE!

I am still contemplating doing dinner at Garden Grill and trying to have Mickey come over and give the kids the card. Not sure if the characters will do that though.

I also thought about telling the kids at Christmas but DH really wants to wait. It has been sooooo difficult, we have been keeping this secret for 9 months now! It's almost here!!

Anyone else thinking about packing now? I figure I could easily get started since we do not need any of our summer clothes here at home. I have my lists started at least. Lots to do still!

Great stuff Tinkermom3 and Princess Tink !...I do love surprising our kids too !

We did not tell our kids about our first cruise either....we told them we were going to the coast for a few days before flying home (sort of true ).

Even when we got to port, we just said we were just having a break in the journey and that we'd like to look round the DCL museum at the port (there isn't one in case you are wondering).

So we got them into the terminal building and I went off to 'buy our tickets' - when I came back (from checking in of course), I handed our son the welcome aboard card and had him read it out loud...which took several times before it finally sank in we were going on the cruise !!!!!

Then the kids were whooping round the terminal like crazy things .......it was their absolute dream come true.

Are you going to laugh at me like my friends do if I tell you I was just thinking about packing too?!?!?! Yes, I'm seriously thinking: we need to try on swimsuits to make suer they fit, have DS try on his shorts and t's (he's recently started growing out of his shirts, I'm a little worried), and have DH give me all his summer clothes.

I totally hear you! I was looking at swimsuits and shorts at OldNavy.com yesterday for the boys. I know our oldest has outgrown most of his shorts. At least they know that we are going to WDW and I can just say that we need all of this for WDW. I am going to be super busy at work in January mainly so that I can have everything done before vacation. I figure I should start packing now so that I am not running around like crazy right before the cruise. So what if everyone thinks I am nuts! LOL!

jdybnsn - I loved your surprise story! That is AWESOME! Their little faces in those pictures are priceless. My friends cannot believe we still have not told the kids. They did not think we could hold out this long.

I have already started my packing list so that I won't forget anything. We are going to WDW first for two days, then cruise, and back to WDW for another 3 days so there is lots to pack. I have never done laundry on the ship before but this time I am going to have to because we will be gone from home for so long. We took a quick trip to WDW for the four days before Christmas and after being warm for those days I am so ready for the cruise! Indiana is so cold during the winter! Can we make the days go by a bit faster? Hope everyone is well and stays safe for the new years holiday.

Wow ! I think the countdown is really going to go fast now ...only 5 weeks before we fly out to start our holiday ! (Feb 1st)

Hi Judy! Now that Christmas is over my whole family can't stop talking about the cruise! We are all so excited.

So I had a stomach virus for five days, got over that and now have my husband's cold.
