2/13/2011 Disney Dream 4 Day Cruise

Tomorrow will be a month til we are on the ship! It's going to be here before we know it! Has everyone gotten their cabin assignments? I have seen on the threads that some people are still waiting and they are on Jan and Feb sailings, I wonder if they are going to get awesome upgrades, I have never heard of it taking so long for assignments, usually 45 days out. I have also seen some people get upgrades on the Dream already, I wasn't sure as full as they are if that would even happen so good for them:cool1: Also we are waitlisted for AKL DVC for the 2 night before the cruise, I saw where a couple of people were staying there prior to the cruise, if our dates come through maybe we could do a pre meet-meet:rotfl2: Speaking of that has anyone figured out when and where we are going to meet yet? And also a reminder we need someone to head the FE list, in the words of Master Gracie " Any volunteers? HHHMMMMM"popcorn::

You don't get room assignments when you book? We picked our room number and location when we made our reservation. We are in 12508.

One month away, and DS is getting more and more excited. I ordered a pirate hat for him and it arrived today, and he is running around with it on right now.

We are booked on Disneys shuttle, for the three of us it was about the same as if we would have gotten a car, and I liked the idea they would take our luggage right to our cabin. I hope it doesn't turn out to have lots of delays like someone posted.

I'm with you on the dealys...we've booked the shuttle, too, from AKV...I don't want to get there right before the sail-away party!!

We found out a week ago that we had three weeks to move.... just love the rush of things! But I'll take it! We found a renter that we trust, and are in the process of buying my moms house from her.... Can't wait til we have four bedrooms and a fenced in yard!!

My favorite new line is going to be "go play outside!"

And once we get it all moved... I'm outta there for two weeks and on vacation!! Time is sure flying by!!

That's great! Moving, vacation, then "go play outside!"

Since we have not sailed before, can anyone share their experience with what the sail away party is like? Is it the same thing as the pirate party? Will it be fun for my 4yr old? thanks!

I think your 4 y/o will love it. It's sort of like a dance party type event. Music, cheering, dancing, singing & CHARACTERS! You'll have a blast. It's definitely worth being at if you've never done it before. Our kids are older now so we like to go on the top deck & watch the ship leave port. We always wave to the other passengers on the other cruise ships who are staring @ us enviously! :rotfl:

We will be at AKV before, but only the night before. We get in about 9:00 at night. Not much time for a meet.

My daughter has loved the sailaway party since she was about that age. Something that might be fun is if you have one of the large white character "gloves" to wave to the CM's at the terminal as the ship pulls out - they will all have Mickey hands on too - my daughter loves that!

Hey Doom!! We're staying @ AKV, but on the night of 9th b/c we're doing a BtB...otherwise we would have LOVED to have a mini meet!
That's a good question...where WILL we all meet? Since none of know the ship, it's kind of hard to plan somethin.
We were going to do the 10th also but we have court on the 11th UGH!

When you are a GTY they give it to you when they want to:rotfl2:

:sad1: As someone who should be on this cruise but is not .... I agree! :guilty:

Hey brack, I think I have a suitcase you guys would fit in:rolleyes1 wish you were coming too.

OK, I have recovered from my mid December freezing cold trip to WDW and New Years Eve in Times Square- I am finally in Dream planning mode!

I have a few questions:

This is our 1st DCL cruise and first 4-nighter- only done RCCL before this. Does DH need a jacket for any dinner nights? So far we haven't been able to book specialty dining since we don't have status, so probably just the regular dining rooms. Othewise what is the normal dress code for men?

I heard there is a Pirates in the Caribbean Night- what night is this normally on a 4-nighter and do people go to dining dressed up for it? Trying to plan DD's outfits to pack as little as possible, and curious if this is the same night (hope not!) as Valentine's Day since I have something for that night.

What time can we check in and get on the ship? My parents are diving us from Lake Buena Vista so we can pretty much leave anytime. Of course I would love to get on the ship ASAP and start exploring. ;)

Fish Extenders- I said I would do it if nobody else wanted to do it - I thought I saw someone else say they wanted to (sorry- I haven't searched the thread yet). Does someone else want to do it? If not I will, I am starting to see goodies in my travels and would like to start picking stuff up and would like to know the ages, etc.

Your husband will only need a jacket if you plan on dining at Remy, I have heard they are very strick on that. People do dress up for pirate night but you don't have to, if my memory serves me right it is night 3 of the 4 night cruise. You can get into the port at 10am (when they open) and go check in and get a boarding pass, they won't start actual boarding until 11;30 or noon. The sooner you check in the lower your number to board, there is plenty to look at in the lobby while you are waiting. We won't be participating in the FE this time but I can do the list to so just let me know if you want to do it so everyone can atleast get an idea of what they need to get.

Welcome! I do not have a answer about the luggage, I do not see why they could not hold it for you. I would suggest you call them and ask. If it will cost you a fortune to call from the UK I would be happy to do it for you, just let me know.

Welcome new peeps! :cool1:

UK! I bet SS will hold it for you, no prob. :thumbsup2 I've sent stuff ahead to resorts & they've held it until I got there, so...

I can't believe how close we're getting!!

As far as FEs go, I have done it once & find that it stresses me out way too much . I know, I suck...Sorry. But we ARE going to set up a meet one afternoon, aren't we??
