I keep hearing about these fairfx cards, but I can't work out if they can be topped up/ re-loaded while you're away. Does anyone know how easy it is to do? I'd like to get one, especially while the $ is so weak, but I'm worried that if I don't put enough on it and I run out of credit I'd be stuck without money. We always like to take too much anyway, but if DW and DD hit the malls I might need to add a bit more.

you can just go online and top them up from what i undersand

Didn't American Express promote a pre-load card a few years back ?
Wasn't that similar to the Fairfx card ?
Whatever happened to that ?

Yes they DID but not any more.We used the American Express card back in 2006, dh and i came back with money still on them,but American Express no longer do the pre loaded cards they wrote to us end of last year to let us know that they were no longer using the pre paid cards and they sent us cheuqes for the balance on each card,pity really they were very useful and it was easy to find out the balance on each card with out it costing an arm and a leg
