1st week of June

More Texans here looking at early June. School lets out on May 27th this year. If our DVC purchase goes ok, we'll be able to make a DVC reservating after June 7th (that's when our assigned bldg. will be ready for occupancy at Saratoga Springs). So hopefully DH will let us take another trip in June - merely 6 months after last month's trip!!

Schools around here are out at the end of May so a lot of people that I know go to WDW the 1st or 2nd week in June. The crowds have been increasing during these 2 weeks in the past few years because people are trying to beat the crowds of the northerners who are still in school. I know some people who have been loyal visitors during the beginning of June & have changed to mid - late July. They say that the crowds were cut in half & the heat was just about the same.

Hi everyone! :wave2: Here is another family of Texans that always goes to WDW the first week of June. We are checking in on May 31- June7th. Then heading down to Vero for four more nights.

I am always amazed at how many Texans are there the first week or two of June. We normally drive (from the Dallas area) and it seems to almost be a caravan of Texas license plates all the way on I-10 and I-75.

We were there from May 31- June 8 last year. We're not from Texas, so maybe we're wimpy about this, but we thought it was very HOT. Wiltingly so at times in MK. MK is also the only park where the crowds were bad at all. This was our first trip so we didn't have a frame of reference, but it was great until about noon (wait times of about 10-15 minutes). After that, however, the big rides had fast pass return times of hours away and 60 minute+ standbys. That's probably normal for summer, but just sharing our experience!

Carla in Illinois (where we do have heat AND humidity, LOL)

Hey! Dallas -area gal, here. We took the kids out of school last year during the first week of May...major heat wave - like upper 90's every day. Heard that was way unusual. Anyway, we can't do that again (the school thing), so we're planning to go the very minute school gets out in 2005...can you tell I'm already planning?? Keep posting about those crowds...seems some say it's major crowded and some say not...hmmm....

HALEY B...
We drove last year...I know we probably go a different way from you guys. We planned to stop just after Mobile, but decided to push it and made it to Tallahassee (LONG DAY). BUT, then we only had about 5 hours or less to WDW the next morning which was awesome. Actually drove home without stopping - 19 hours, not too bad. HAVE FUN!:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

hello dizagain!
We are from The Colony. We will be there next year right when schools out. Going week 2 this year with APs ...therefore...week 1 next year.Maybe we will cross paths!

Our family of Texans will be there may 30-June 12 this year. Our first June trip. We normally go in the off season (end of Sept or beginning of Dec) but we are going with extended family. We are are staying BWV May 30-June 4, RPR or HRH June 4-7 then back to Disney June 7-June12. Waiting for AP rates to come out so we can snag a decent rate at AKL or the Poly.
We always have some lime green ribbon on our things. We fly to Orlando, 4 kids trapped in 1 vehicle for 20 hours is not my idea of a good time
:teeth:

We are from Rowlett... wow lots of us "neighbors" here. ;)

We have gone the first of June each of our 5 coming up on 6 trips and the only park that we ever notice to be crowded is the MK. But if you play is smart and use that extra magic hour and then LEAVE when it starts to get crowded (usually around 10 or 11) you can get a lot done without terrible lines.

Most of the other parks have been almost walk-on attractions with a few exceptions (test track and some of the other biggies).

So do you all drive or fly? We usually drive.

When airfares were cheap we flew often, but we've been driving more lately. We may take Amtrak from San Antonio for a change...it is more reasonable than flying right now...but still more expensive than driving, of course.

Hi, Neighbor. You've piqued my interest. How much is Amtrak from SA to Orlando?? We drove this past Christmas and fuel costs for our Villager was $217. Fairfield Inn in Lafayette on the way up was $75 and Residence Inn in Tallahassee on the way back was $89. So just slightly under $400 (vs the $1000+ airfare would have cost our family of 5). Just yesterday my husband asked how much the bus would be - I'm sure he was joking...maybe. Amtrak may be a neat experience for the kids.

I am beginning to think I need to call my DB and tell him and his DW to hop a ride with any one of you Texas DISers!!:teeth:

Better yet.....I will hop a ride back to Texas with you......LOVE TX and wish DH would get transferred there with his job. Should've moved down there with DB 25 yrs ago when he begged me to go with him!!!

Just don't know how many more cold OH winters I can handle!!:earseek:

See you all at WDW June 4th- 13th

Another Texas traveler here! We are from Greenville. I am a teacher, and my last day is May 28. I've been told that we can probably leave a little after noon if we have everything turned in. The plan is to have everything packed and loaded in the car (including the kids):D . My DH will have the motor running, and I'll jump in! We will drive as far as we can that day, and then finish up by driving all the next day.

This is just our second trip to wdw. Last time we went in Sept. and flew. We are very excited about going back. From what I've read, this is a good time to go, and I don't have to feel guilty about pulling the kids out of school.

Can't wait!

Paula

With so many of us going we could charter a fancy bus! ;) (JK, I think).
We are driving, I think I said that on page one. We are there from May 30 to June 11, maybe the 12th, I messed up the reservation and some how added A day, whoops :) .

We will have our green on, or at least I will!

What is a tag fairy?

We'll be arriving from NC on 5/29 and staying through 6/5. We went the first week of June in 2000 and had no problems, although we did take advantage of EE.

I'm not from Texas(got two sisters who live there; san antonio & copperus cove/killeen). we will be there around the 7th I think; still in the process of finalizing plans....we've been this time of year before and it is hot no matter where you're from...you will be lucky to see high temps below 90 and there will be lots of humidity....E-nights are really neat...one of the best values at WDW IMHO....enjoy and maybe we'll meet some of ya'll down there in June..

Haley--we are going May 30-June 12 too so drive your bus through Houston and pick us up :teeth: . Which resort is your family staying at?
Tag fairies are the ones responsible for giving you the little tags under your user name--the ones in color. You never know when they are going to pay a visit.

I'm a little farther north than TX, but we'll be there June 3-11. We're planning to avoid EMH parks and stay all day. Hopefully that will work to avoid crowds because I'm not comfortable cramming my family of 5 into a POR room and am unwilling to pay Disney prices for a comfortable room. We've only been in May and December before so this should be interesting.

DVCJen - We also got a kick out of the caravan from Texas last year. We even saw some of same ones after we got to CBR.

dizagain - how long did it take to get to Tallahassee? I'm trying to get dh to drive that far this year to make to second day's drive shorter.:hyper: We stopped in New Orleans last year and that still left another 11 hours the second day.

Everyone else who drives - where do you stop along the way?

We should all do the lime green ribbon thing on our cars this year just to see how many of us we can count.
What do ya think?::yes::

This should be interesting.....but, it sounds good to me!
I'm game!

We'll be on I-10 all the way to I-75 (right?) May 28th!
It is a 21 hour NON-stop drive for us from Kerrville, TX!
(OK, DH does let us go tee-tee and eat!);)

Hadn't decide where to stay yet!
Waiting for the AP rates!

We'll be on I-10 all the way to I-75 (right?)

Actually, we usually take I-10 to I-12 (Baton Rouge, LA), then back to I-10 (Slidell, LA) and I-10 to I-75.
