***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

PS: May I join you in whining about SW dessert party still not being available? Oh. My Goodness. I just need to know already!
YES YES YES. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. seriously this thing is a big hit. Disney you KNOW you're going to continue it nightly through the end of the year right? just DO IT ALREADY and let us have peace. It's not like RoL where there may be delays. just do it!

My kids may be teenagers... DD entering her senior year and DS his freshman year. They are both still 5 at heart. It's been 9 years since we've been to Disney. Both were devastated that they were too old for Jedi training. My DD was so sad about being to old for BBB (one of her fondest memories). Nothing I could do about the Jedi training. But I booked DS an updo at Ivy Trellis before our dinner at CRT. :)

I also ordered them both the special dessert at CRT... slipper and crown.

I'm with Lisa F. It's your vacation too! Seems like doing one of the 3 that are important to you is totally justified. Matter of fact sounds like your kids are old enough they could entertain themselves while you go!:)

omg don't make me cry. I am already counting the trips forward and hoping my kiddo stays my kiddo for as long as possible. That is part of why we are going all out on this trip - with him being a disney kid it is economical. I tell him no so much of the time at home, but vacation is all about saving up the "yes" answers, lol. At home ice cream is a "sometime food" but on vacation we have a rule that we MUST have ice cream every single day! Who knows if we will but we'll try, lol. But he wont' do CRT. he begged me "mom. please, no princesses." I will respect that but we're going to a couple of signatures!

Oh no...don't cry! Honestly, they are the same as BDFmom's kids--kids at heart, particularly at Disney. They will be giddy to meet Micky and Tigger, will want their Mickey ice cream bars, will be in complete awe of the fireworks, etc. I think if you "get" Disney, that magic and kid-like love for it never fade no matter the age. There's just more grown-up food involved is all! lol :)

I may have changed my plans. Maybe. I'm on the fence. I need help deciding.

If we could stay a few extra days and transfer hotels from SoG to ALK, should we? Would you? All that was available was a pool view room. I would assume I would only be able to do fast pass for the days we would be staying on a Disney property.

Hoping this is helpful for your FP questions.

If I had an opportunity to stay extra days at WDW and/or stay AKL, I would jump (really, really fast!) all over that!

OMG! I stopped getting notifications! And missed 3 pages!!!

Ok my son is 2 and I already miss when he was smaller! (When I can carry him without him fuzzing... And when he couldn't say 'no') :rotfl2:And I actually considered eating at H&V twice (breakfast and dinner)!

I will also whine about Star Wars fireworks schedule! I'm not even going to complain about the dessert party not being open, just give me the schedule pleeeeeeeaaasssseeee :furious:

I just had a super sad moment.

My kids were going bringing a ton of glow sticks to hand out hand out during the night parade. They wanted to sprinkle a little pixie dust on kids who's parents had said no to the overpriced Disney glow toys. Now with no dark parade it won't be the same. :(

I keep reading that attendance is down and Disney is cutting prices. however, when I look into our hotel which is the contemporary garden wing it is fully booked. I also don't really see a lot of ADR's open. Is Disney just cutting costs in other ways and charging for extra events instead of increasing deals or lowering prices?

Does anyone know if the chocolate fountain at H&V dinner is actually used by dinner guests or is it just there for show?

One review I read said they were served a warm chocolate drink before dinner (thicker than hot chocolate.) I just assumed this came from the fountain in the pics, but I could be wrong. Now you have me curious too:)

the staff dips things in it and then they set them out (like chocolate covered strawberries and marshmallows). There is another good review on the disney food blog. here are a couple of photos:

they don't let guests do it themselves. the hot chocolate is something different and I'm not sure if they did that beyond the first year? I don't see it mentioned anywhere else.

the whole review from last year

well the review isn't so good but the pictures are. If only 1/4 of that crap is half as good as it looks I won't go away hungry. I could live on the butternut squash soup and carved meats alone. plus some mashed potatoes and i'm good ;) I am kind of easy to please, lol. I am a foodie too but I save the foodie stuff for appropriate places. Fresh and tasty works for me too, lol. fat and salt goes a long way ;)

I think the food looks very appetising!!!

I would have chosen H&V with F!had it been available. We got MM with F! Personally I think the menu at H&V looks more varied and flavorful. I can get a great chicken parmesan anywhere .

As mentioned, the strawberries and marshmallows are pre-dipped! For spring, the strawberries were white chocolate. Desserts were great IMO. There was this banana cream puff... wish I could have one right now!

I haven't had breakfast yet and now i am drooling a little bit, lol. It's a buffet, if i don't like something i won't eat it. There are many appealing proteins, plenty of appealing sides and I am very much looking forward to the argula, pear and pomegranate salad. I also am a fiend for peel and eat shrimp (whenever I go to a chinese buffet I get a big plate of that so I fill up on something lean and healthy before hitting the regular buffet. I won't do that here, lol). I LOVE butternut squash soup (I make it all winter long, cashew milk makes it vegan and healthy. I am not vegan lol) and I assume their version will be more rich than mine is lol. The pumpkin "ravioli" (more like a gnocchi) looks good too and I love anything pumpkin. The asiago chicken, while not groundbreaking, looks good to me. I love brussels sprouts but they have to be nice and soft, if they are crunchy they will be pushed to the side with no shame. the apricot pork looks good, but if it's dry there are always bbq meatballs and fresh carved potatoes. I think the garlic mashed potatoes are a big hit even at chef mickey's (arguably the only character buffet with worse reviews than h&v, have never been there). The seafood mac and cheese looks dubious to me but I may try it. If all else fails there are always tater tots on the kid buffet. who doesn't like tater tots? I may get some anyway lol.

the "bad" reviews I've read have said that there are better versions of most of the dishes elsewhere. but SOMETHING has to be tasty. The reviews make me look forward to the food, I have to keep my expectations in check like I tell everyone else to!

Also something I figured out on my own. The availability for F! package vs. Non F! package is exactly the same. IF you set up a TP reservation finder alert for H&V seasonal dine and you go to the site and go through the F! package, that same availability will be there. DON'T book through the link that TP sends you (which is not working right not at all anyway, I think Disney changed something. boo). Set the alert for regular H&V but then go to the F! package.

when i first booked my F! package I had a regular H&V at 4:30 (my preferred time) . All they had for the package was 3:45 so i grabbed it and cancelled the other one. Kept refreshing and my 4:30 showed up after I cancelled it! I had booked it as a backup but was able to convert it to F! by releasing it and picking it back up again.

I had hopes of doing this with Tiffins for RoL. Now I am laughing at that thought :rotfl2:

I will just enjoy my morning in AK with lunch at Sanaa
