***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

see if your friend can put you on the wait list. Kidani village especially has a lot of rooms - there is a good chance something might open up as it is usually one of the last resorts to book up (after SS and OKW).

Thanks for the info! He actually did that, and I didn't even know that was a thing til he mentioned it! So, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, but keeping zero expectations, so if it does happen it will just be a bonus!

The best decorations are at the Grand Floridian and the Wilderness Lodge. You can take a boat from the Contemporary boat dock to the WL and look around at both the main lodge and the villas building. Both are beautiful. :)

Yes, thank you for this! I'm hoping to get to Wilderness Lodge for sure. I am so excited to see all the Christmas decorations! Only other time I've been to WDW for Christmas was last year, and it was a spur of the moment trip, flew down and stayed 1 night at AoA so I could have a chance to finally see the Osborne Lights before they were gone forever. That trip was my bf's idea, he's the best! But boy was it a tease for the full Disney Christmas experience!

30 days out is the deadline for canceling reservations without having your points go into a special holding account with limited use so if movement is going to happen it is generally around then :) good luck, keeping fingers crossed for you!

Hello! Hope it's not too late to join in! We (2 adults and a newly 6 year old) will be staying in the Cars Suites at AoA from 11/28-12/5!
Hi Welcome!!!!!
How did I just see this thread? We'll be at CBR from 11/27 - 12/5.

Still trying figure out which ADRs we want and which parks we'll be in on which days so I can figure out the ADR schedule.
Hi! I'm anxiously awaiting hours as well!!!
I NEED PARK HOURS
Ditto.
Ok, so the 7 month window for the DVC stay we were looking for was this morning, and unfortunately we didn't end up getting our top pick, which was AKL. Ughhh. However, we did manage to book all 5 nights in DVC studios, with a split stay between Saratoga Springs and Old Key West! Other than being disappointed in missing out on AKL (and there's always next time, I have stayed there once before, but not the bf), I am just thrilled that we were able to get 5 nights in deluxe resorts for only $20/night more than the cheapest Value option! And these will be 2 resorts we've never stayed in before, since the only deluxe I've EVER stayed at was AKL. So now, decked out in all their holiday glory, we will have 2 Saratoga nights and 3 Old Key West nights.

So, for anyone who is interested, here's our whole trip itinerary so far, and feel free to ignore if you're bored by it, hehe

Miami:
11/30-12/2 - Hotel Astor, Miami Beach
Florida Keys:
12/2-12/3 - Seashell Beach Resort, Marathon
12/3-12/5 - Coconut Beach Resort, Key West
12/5-12/6 - Seafarer Resort and Beach, Key Largo
WDW:
12/6-12/8 - Saratoga Springs DVC studio
12/8-12/11 - Old Key West DVC studio

park plans so far:
Tues, 12/6: 4.5 hr drive from Key Largo - check in to Saratoga Springs, get settled, relax. Walk to Disney Springs to soak in the Christmasy stuff there
Wed, 12/7: Epcot - might scope out Candlelight Processional
Thurs, 12/8: morning - transfer to Old Key West. Monorail tour of resorts to see Christmas decorations. afternoon/evening - MVMCP in MK (4pm-midnight)
Fri, 12/9: Hollywood Studios
Sat, 12/10: Animal Kingdom
Sun, 12/11: fly home
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the Keys..and most of all Key West!!!

Wait, did I mention how much I absolutely LOVE Key West????? Please go diving for me!! :)

The Atlantis exhibit IS amazing. My ex took my kid to KSC a year before I took him (when he was 5) and I think he was a bit young even though he is crazy for outer space. He was begging me to take him back when he was 6 in 2014 so I built it into the plan - I did not pay for the tickets because at the time you could get them free from your congressman if you asked right at 6 months, so at least there was that. But the only reason my kiddo wanted to go back was to go on the free play structure and the gift shop. He refused to do the bus tour, it was too long and boring for him (I think just too dense) but as long as I drove all the way out there and subjected myself to mediocre lunch that makes the worst disney CS look like gourmet food I wanted to do SOMETHING there so we went to the atlantis exhibit and ... omg.

It was completely breathtaking and I was completely blown away. The feeling you get when you are that close to a real space shuttle that has been in space and you see all of the burns and scarring is just indescribable. I am a cheapie about certain things and was feeling a little grumpy about being there in the first place (KSC not atlantis) but I even sprung for the photo of us there because with the lighting it is hard to take with a camera phone (the photographer did but it came out bad) and I just wanted a memory of the day. It was... I don't know. breathtakingly moving to be in that building with that shuttle. I am not even that much of a space buff but just enough. I still get chills thinking about it.

But I will say that my 6 year old was a bit young for KSC and I suspect he didn't get a whole lot out of it with his father either.

Please don't give me a reason to switch my plans AGAIN. lol

it will still be there when your son is a little older. Mine was 6 and not that into it. Plus there is a big slide there and you can't be both at the top and the bottom. So I let him do it. Started him at the top and told him to WAIT FOR ME at the bottom. Did he? no. He wandered off immediately and since I was in an enclosed stairwell going downstairs I didn't see where he went. I almost had a heart attack and then was "that shrieking mother" when I finally found him. I seriously lost my sh*t. it is a tough thing right there without a second adult and little ones. So I am not saying it is not worth going to, I'm just saying from very recent experience, your little guy is a bit young to fully enjoy the whole thing. The food there is beyond lousy too. It is expensive to do and the bus tour you are stuck on for the duration which is a couple of hours I think. I do feel like it is an awesome experience but for a bit older kid. 6 is young, even for a space loving neil degrasse tyson wanna be kid. It is not cheap to go there either.

OK ok, I'll stick with the extra WDW night. Still don't know where I'm staying, and still don't know how I'm getting to the port.lol. The car service quote was ridiculously expense. They want me to have an suv for 4 suitcases.

Haha! We were almost not going to do it, but I heard a lot of whining. ;)

It's now a must do for us!
I know my son would love it. We are big museum people! We have annual passes to the museum center here, it has a great reciprocity program and we travel within a 5 hour driving radius to go to different museums as well. We don't have passes to it but do visit the Air Force museum once or twice per year- my son LOVES it.

I'm going to make this trip Disney focused though...we can do it another time...I can't add another day on the end of our trip, so if want to do CP it has to be the day before the cruise.

It sounds like it's a must do eventually!

hi all I'm tagging along to lurk :) we plan on doing this same time frame but in 2017 so hopefully I can pick up some good pointers covering weather, special events, etc.

I'm not doing any PPO meals... I'm planning to do slightly later breakfasts (an hour after regular opening or so) so that we have the option of going at rope drop but if we don't get moving so fast it's not a big deal. I think we have enough days that with fast passes we'll be good on everything.

Thanks Lisa. That's what I'm thinking too. Now that I've decided and booked resort, things are coming together easier. We're at CR and I know you guys are at the Poly, so we'll really be able to do lots of rope drop days. Especially at MK. I a, getting soooooo excited! Long way to go though.

I am splitting my stay - 4 nights at BWV and 3 nights at poly. Doing all of epcot/HS stuff (plus disney springs and AK) first few nights and then all MK stuff (with one morning at AK before the xmas party) last 3 nights. I'm pretty sure that now that the xmas party schedule is released that the wednesday night should have MSEP so guessing it will follow past patterns. so wed night we are doing MK regular stuff (MSEP/regular wishes), thursday night MVMCP, friday night Hoop dee doo and maybe the campfire thing (which I am still looking into). A more low key last night there I guess. I expect we'll be dead tired by the end of our second MK day.

not paying for christmas party tickets until I book my plane tickets and we are going for sure.

Stroller Question---

Last year I had no intention of renting a stroller. All of my friends said I should. Ended up renting one at the parks (every park besides HS) and was soooo glad that I did!!! We left it parked for long periods of time, but was nice to have when needed. Especially since wake up early and go to sleep well after midnight while there, also we are not at all a 'leisurely paced' pair (more accurately- I am not one to ever take a 'leisurely pace ;) )

This year my son will be 6. Should I rent again? Weather won't be hot so that will not be a 'tiring out' factor this trip.

I had it for mine at 6. I would park it in a central location in some land and we'd walk around, but i'd use it to push him between lands and when he was tired at the end of the day. I rented it from offsite so i got one appropriately sized for bigger kids. I just knew if he hit the wall at the end of the night there was NO way I could carry him and it was great.

his legs are a lot shorter than yours, although he has more energy he is still a little dude. I'd either get a stroller or be prepared to go at his pace.

honestly a little worried about the fact that mine is too big for one this year or i'd rent one for him. He did alright with his dad even til nearly midnight a couple of nights so hoping it will be fine with me, BUT he sometimes walked very slowly and his dad just had to deal. We NEVER did the stroller thing when he was a baby, I always wore him front and then back when he got too big for front (he is big for his age too). But it is a lot of walking even for active kids and they get tired. The only option for a kid his age is a special needs stroller we're not going there.... or a double stroller in the park which I guess I can get if I absolutely need to but that thing is a nightmare to push

I think you're right. Thanks. Even with the stroller there was 3 nights where he fell asleep coming back on the boat. I had to carry him from the launch to the room...attempted to anyway, a couple of times I couldn't make it all the way.
What about Epcot on Black Friday? A stroller was definitely a godsend on our last Epcot day (was the hottest day of the trip)..is there a place in World Showcase that I can leave it while we are doing Holidays around the World? I can't remember.

You're probably going to want to push it from one country to the next. World showcase is huge and very spread out with a decent distance between pavilions. I believe there is stroller parking in each country? We didn't really do Epcot much and it was only future world (so I'd park it on east or west and walk around, but WS is MUCH bigger and more walking between countries).

I just went thru all of our Epcot photos, and can't find one of him in a stroller. I think we left it parked near Soarin... That could be one of the reasons we left early that day, It was a LONG walk around WS.

OMG, I love this thread... my plans are in limbo but planning a trip with DH and DS2 on Dec 1-3 RPR, Dec 3-6 AKL with DxDP, Dec6-12 CR... I sure hope we can go! :)
