***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

The pressure is real! lol Sounds fantastic so far! There truly are so many options that is really can be challenging to decide. Have you been on a cruise before? That's on my bucket list most definitely!
No this will be our first time!! We are widely excited. We are sharing the boat with 2 other families. We'll have 5 adults and 5 kids .... 8, 13,14,15(boys) and my DD17.
Yes... way to many choices!

I'll bet you are! Disney "firsts" are so great and I get giddy about them, whether they are mine or others! After reading threads on here, I'm strongly considering doing (I think--hard to decide) an IllumiNations cruise. Sounds like so much fun and what a view!!

I love so many of your dining options!

I definitely have a lot of similar ones (currently have Narcoossee's planned over Citricos :) ). I am also happy to see you have Garden Grill later in the morning. I had originally done a PPO ADR, but changed it so we could sleep a little longer and get 'Soarin and Living with the Land first, then enjoy our breakfast before entering the World Showcase.
I have been going regularly to wdw since 1998 with a long break in there for divorce (4 years) with my first trip solo with kid in 2014. so I am kind of very experienced but not if that makes sense. on my 2014 trip I booked very few adrs (4 maybe) and added one more of the fly and qs was major stress for me. since I go so infrequently I decided to just go for it with dining and do the ddp... but I has so many restaurants cut I was sad. I love all of my choices and if I had more time would add a few more but not many. I am so excited about my dining plan and excited about every choice on it!

Number crunching was a huge eye opener, that's for sure! So the only "AP" lingo I know is annual pass holder but I'm not sure that is correct in this context--is it? I keep seeing "Tables in Wonderland" or TiW referenced all over these boards. I'm sure there's somewhere that explains it in depth, but would mind sharing just a nutshell version? The number of desserts on these plans is pretty extraordinary! Personally, we would never eat that many either. I believe I read they are changing things up on that front for the 2017 plans; I think it's fewer desserts but more snacks? That seems more appealing, I think.

I tried the AP route with tables in wonderland discount. Tables in wonderland is a discount card which you buy as an AP or Florida resident you could use in almost all restaurants... Not sure how much the discount is now, can't remember. It was not worth it for us (numbers wise) because we went that one trip and that was it. We did a lot of food and wine snacking as well so it didn't really do much in terms of money. But we did get to get in the soft opening for BOG with APs so that was great :)

Ooohhh...attending the soft opening for BOG was a great thing! Nice! Thanks very much for the info. It reinforces my theory that I need to relocate to the Sunshine State! :)

Is there a limit on the number of questions we can ask here? lol I certainly seem to have a steady supply. :)

On a 1-10 scale, 10 being top notch, how would you rate breakfast at 'Ohana? And what score would you give Kona Cafe's breakfast?

I know! I answered in answered in a recent job interview that my dream job is to work at Disney! Oii... That doesn't go too well in a bank so maybe I shouldn't have been so truthful. Lol

No limits to questions but I unfortunately only have a partial answer for you :P I have been to Ohana breakfast 4 years ago and thought it was ok. DH was not too impressed though so I'm going for dinner this time around. I would rate it a 7 maybe? They were also running behind so we waited for a bit to get in so maybe less another point to a 6. (Sorry I know lots of people love this) I had Kona on my plans too that year but decided to skip and opted for sleep.

HAHA...that is hilarious! :) I think that was a perfect answer--shows that you are outgoing, helpful and personable! I had the very best time chatting with the loveliest CM recently. She told me all about how she and her husband moved to FL after their kids were all off to college and it had been her dream to work at Disney. She absolutely loves her job and it was obvious. :) There must be challenges involved, but I think helping people plan their Disney vacations would be awesome!

Everyone has great plans! :flower1:

I'm hungry after reading them all.:stir: Still debating on a couple of days. Getting a BOG dinner on 12/4 has put a wrench in my plans. That was originally supposed to be our F! night. Now there are no more available packages on alternate nights.

I had this happen to me on my May trip! BoG was also the culprit! I only had a really late 9pm reservation one night, and finally found a 6pm. I would suggest not cancelling everything, just adding reservations for your new plan in the event a better time opens on your original night! This far out, it is very likely it may happen, especially around the 60 day FP+ time (this is when I finally got what I needed).

The AP cost me a total of just under $300 to upgrade with tax on top of my Magic Your Way ticket. The Platinum AP then gave me PhotoPass+ which is essentially memory maker, only for 365 days instead of 30 days. It also allowed me to view and download photos for my entire travel group, even though the CMs on the phone insisted it would only work for me. I always used my band just to be safe, but everyones rides photos came up! Then, I saved $30 per person at Club Villain. This made my total savings day of upgrade $270.

Tables in Wonderland is only available to Florida Residents, DVC, and AP as @Candycane83 mentioned. AP gets it for $150 and it provides 20% off almost all Table Service meals including adult beverages and even some Lounges (there is a full list on the website). If you spend $750 at TIW eligible places, you break even. It does however add 18% gratuity when you use it automatically. The discount and tip are basically a wash, and you pay the price on the menu plus tax.

The AP also gives you 10% off all merchandise in the shops. This was very nice compared to my Disney Visa which requires a minimum of $50 and for me to use the Visa.

It also gave me 10% off some restaurants such as Teppan Edo which does not take TIW.

The whole AP upgrade required some more number crunching, but I knew I wanted to return to Disney World with my friends in the Fall so it was more than worth it for me. Now adding a December trips just makes me even happier I did it!

I think that is a great plan! Some of my friends who go all the time told me I was booking too many or I would feel obligated to plan around them, but we were so happy we booked what we did and we planned our ADRs around our day!

I see you mention you will be renting a car too. I am seriously considering this for December especially since parks are closing earlier and transportation will shut down earlier than peak seasons. Some nights we may want to stay out at different locations and I think a car would be very helpful!

My friend is leaving this week for a split stay at Beach Club Villas and Villas at Grand Floridian. I told her she has to go and tell me what it is like!

Is there a limit on the number of questions we can ask here? lol I certainly seem to have a steady supply. :)

I did 'Ohana breakfast my last day right before checking out of Poly. I was the first ADR time, 7:30am. We were seated, ate, took pictures, and in and out in hour. Food was traditional Disney breakfast (Eggs, Mickey waffles, Bacon) with the addition of guava juice (same as Kona), fried potatoes (same as Kona), assorted fruit with pineapple, pork sausage with a Polynesian twist, and Hawaiian bread. OH and Stitch waffles! The food was good and we had a very nice server. If characters are important to you, this breakfast was great. Stitch even has a PhotoPass photographer follow him around unlike some other character meals. Plus if you have children, they can participate in the conga line!

If I had to pick between just food, I would probably pick Kona. Tonga toast was very good, and they have a great selection on the menu between traditional breakfast and Hawaiian treats. The press pot coffee was amazing, and we bought some beans to take home with us! We had to book Kona again for our next trip.

I would do 'Ohana again, but mostly to interact with Stitch and friends. Kona breakfast was probably 1/2 the price of 'Ohana, and delicious.

We did Ohana on our 2007 trip. Yes, I know I long time ago. The food was OK but the character interaction was fantastic. My kids were 6 and 8 at the time. My son was mesmerized by Stitch and they had a wonderful interaction.
Personally I would have loved to have looked for an ADR for this trip. My kids have other wishes and want more exotic meals.

Wow, good for you @PolyRob! Thanks for filling in the blanks for me with regard to those perks. Now, kindly advise on the special deals available to Kalamazoo, MI residents. (I kid, I kid) :) Just how many times have you been to Disney?

Awesome that your kids' palates have matured. :) I'm rather excited about how adventurous my 2 seem as we've poured over the menus! It's bittersweet that they grow up so darned fast, but dining with them is really enjoyable at their ages (17 & 14). They do have very soft spots in the hearts for Lilo and Stitch--definitely childhood faves! I may need to flip a coin for this one!

May was actually my first time!! I had been researching for so long and I read NUMEROUS disboards threads to find out the best strategy/plan for my trip. A few of my friends also own DVC so I asked them plenty as well!

Please ask as much as you want. I love coming here and talking to other Disney fans. I enjoy giving advice when I can and I have learned a lot as well. Unfortunately I have never been to Ohana. We are not very enthused about Kona Cafe as a lot of others are so would rate it a 7 or 8 but a lot of people love it. I would say go if it interests you as we find we like some restaurants that others don't and vice versa.

Okay so yesterday was my fiance's birthday and I told him about our surprise trip as part of his gift (the other part is a PlayStation 4 that I split with his mother, because I know you were so curious). He is so excited! and I am so excited I can actually talk about it with him now!! Buuuut, he has opinions, you guys! Lots of them! And wants to change plans that I've had made for the past 3 months! I even showed him my spreadsheet. I suppose I should compromise with him a bit, you know, since it's his surprise trip and all.

He wants to do a day at Universal but I just don't think that makes sense financially for this short trip. We've been before, two years ago right after Diagon Alley opened, so as much as I would love to go back, I really think we should stick to WDW this time.

He also suggested we don't do AK at all and just do MK and EPCOT this trip (weren't planning on HS anyway). So maybe we'll do 2 MK days and 2 EP days, I would be fine with that.

Ahhhh, so much more to think of now that I have another's opinions to consider :)

Just throwing I'm my two cents not that you asked but with AK's new night time offerings you might want to give it a second look just look them up and see if it's something you may want to do... I was also tinkering with the idea of Universal but financially it's just so expensive to add that. It's so hard to let things go :(

Sure! lots of character meals :)
We recently changed dates a bit. So, I'm still trying to secure some other reservations. As of right now :) This is what we have..
Dec 3 chef mickeys dinner
Dec 4 ohana breakfast and early 1900 park fare dinner
Dec 5 ppo Crystal Palace breakfast and Liberty tree dinner
Dec 6 kona breakfast and Ohana dinner
Dec 7 ppo Akershus and Biergarten dinner
Dec 8 Tusker house breakfast and.. ( can't decide between Boma or Yak and Yeti dinner? ) suggestions?? :)
Dec 9 CRT late breakfast and BOG dinner
...this is all still a work in progress :)

We will be at CP for an early breakfast on 12/5 as well. We will be at LTT but for lunch. For 12/8 we love Boma so that is what I suggest.

Eek I had been gone for so long haven't had time for Disney planning in the last couple of days so if you got random alerts for likes on posts from days ago I apologize lol. I'm finally caught up with some not so subtle skimming on some post. I can tell we are all getting more and more excited as our plans solidify with time. Obviously there are things we are all waiting for and on top of many lists to to know what in the world is going to happen with Animal Kingdom and the night time offerings during December. It's kind of a game changer for me so I've been trying to stay on top of this as much as possible for now the Disney official hours show AK closing at 5. Most sites say that this is likely to change. With that I just wanted to share this link to travel agency calendar it shows AK hours closing at 6 pm so it's just one hour extension but at least a sign that they will be extended.
https://media.disneywebcontent.com/StaticFiles/ParkHours/WDWTravelAgent_December.pdf

Unfortunately no nighttime shows scheduled so no clue for RoL. But the web shows about Disney world said the RoL floats had been seen out seemingly being tested. Fingers crossed everything stays afloat and we can all have the chance to enjoy this show when we go.

Thanks @Karla07559 for positing this link! Our Yak and Yeti reservation was originally at 4:30p. I kept checking that and somewhat recently was able to switch it to 5:45p. I figured that was a sign of something good to come as far as extended hours. Am so looking forward to the official word on RoL--would really love to see this! :)
