This is the first year we've had to plan around school schedules, and really want to do something fun since the kids have a week off, and conveiently, so does DW.

I have a terrible fear, though, that we won't have as much fun waiting in huge lines, and manuvering through throngs of people - especially with a cranky 3 year old.

How does the first week in April (spring break) compare to, say early March, or even May.

Thanks!

Since Easter is in mid-April this year I'd go with either March or May. We've gone the second week of March before and never had a problem with crowds. We went this year the first week of January and it was very crowded; so much so that it definitely affected our plans and what we were able to see. Long lines, fastpasses gone early, food courts mobbed, masses of people everywhere, etc. It was awful and we'll never go again when we even think it might be crowded.

Any other opinions on this? I would really like to know what all you experts think as we a scheduled for this week also!

Thanks

Tandc

spring break is very, very hard to determine. You best guess is to look at WDW schedule (calendar) - if they have everything closing at 9 - you should be fine. If there are any closing especially MK after 9 - guess what they are expecting crowds.

also you need to look again 2 weeks (I would also at one week) before you leave - they fine tone it...

here is the counties in Florida and their spring break - Lake, Orange,Osceola are the one close to WDW.

It doesn't look good.

now don't give up.

since it is open late you can go in the morning until the crowds get to you or your family then leave.

enjoy your resort, shopping take a nap -then go back after 8pm (okay I really hate crowds. 5pm would probably be okay, too)

Thanks for the replies (and the links). Looks like the first week in April isn't great, but not as bad as the week before or after (judging by the schools's schedules and the WDW calendar).

Still up in the air ... might take our chances.

The school calendar looks worse in March. You should be fine. If it's crowded and you are staying onsite just take a little break. You should have great weather!

I went the first week in April 3 years ago. It was 2 weeks before Easter (as it is this year). I was also afraid of what I would run into. But the parks turned out to be fine, nothing I couldn't handle and I always go during slow times (early dec or january). While talking to the monorail driver we found out that the crowds were expected the following week, the week before Easter.

We will be there for part of this week too. We plan on a lot of water park time since we normally go in the cooler months.

Here's hoping for managable crowds. :wizard:

We are going 4/6 - 4/12. I'm not concerned. I was told all these horror stories about the crowds at NYE 2000. We went with 30 people. We had a fabulous time. Was it crowded --yes but we didn't let it stop us from enjoying ourselves. Since that experience I don't sweat the crowds too much. I go when I want and take things as they come. Hey, I'm in WDW whats not to love.

We've been there the past two years at that time and will be there again this year 4/3-4/7. Plan to utilize fastpass when available. We actually had some of our best trips during that week, just remember that the weather then is a little iffy , temp. wise. We have been there and swam (last year) and froze two years ago.
