We're going to Disney for the first time this weekend for the weekend only. (Long story-it was a VERY last minute thing!) I would like to plan a trip for later this year around one of my boy's birthdays. DH and DS share a b-day (7/15). My youngest will turn 2 in November (11/20). I've been reading about these codes and free dining and everything else. What's the "best"/cheapest way to make this happen?? Thinking about a week if possible with a good deal on hotel/food/ect. We are not staying on property for this trip this weekend but would be willing to in the future (we can't beat the $79/night room at the Radisson we got). Also, is it better to book through Disney, with an agent or check like hotwire or something?? I keep seeing these ads for the family of 4 for under $1600 and need some direction please!

Thank you so much
Lynn

By requesting a Vacation Planning DVD and getting an e-mail about 2 weeks later with a 20% off code.

...And, in the meantime, join AAA and get their discount on your resort. It ranges from 10% to 20% depending on the resort and the season.

You can wait and see if there is a bounceback offer when you're down there!

Don't you have to be on site to get a bounceback?

I think they mean, see if they get a bounceback while they are there for their quick weekend trip.

We saved money by booking off season and during the free dining promotion. I booked Jan 07 for Sept 07. The free dining promotion came out around the 2nd week of April. I used my AAA discount (for the package discount you need to use a AAA agent). We are a family of 5. Once the free dining came out we changed our reservation to the free dining and we were able to add 2 days to our trip (at a moderate resort) and still be several hundred dollars below the 4 day trip with paid dining! Hope that made sense, LOL

Most people don't.

Many people here think that ordering the DVD provides Disney with a list of names from which to choose. No one is really sure how they decide who will be lucky enough to get the codes.

but they are staying at the Radisson this weekend, so they won't be eligible for bounceback.

to the op - of the two birthdays, you stand a better chance of a deal in november. thanksgiving is late this year, so your son's birthday is the week before - a great time to go as far as crowds and price.

if you book now and a code comes out, you can get a discount. watch for codes for fall around august.
