So excited :cool1::dance3:! A week from today my girls and I will be at AKL Jamba house. We are staying in a studio. I have no idea what to bring. Their will 3 of us girls with a lot of long hair. Do I need to bring xtra towels from home? What about cleaning supplies such as dishwashing soap. Will they supply enough coffee?

We are only staying for 3 nights so I am aware that we will not have housekeeping.

Thanks so much for listening to a DVC Newbie.

You really shouldn't need to bring all that much. If you run out of towels you can borrow some from the pool.

We normally stay in studios.

Bring extra soap, shampoo, conditioner, coffee and basket style filters. They will give you the starter set of everything...so 1 hotel sized shampoo/conditioner/body wash, some soap. They give you at least 1 regular coffee...we've had 2 in the room before, along with the sugar/dry coffee creamer packs.

There should be enough dishwashing soap--they give you the small (trial size) bottle and a sponge. Studios have paper plates/bowls, plastic utensils, and real glasses, and coffee mugs.

We haven't had any issues with needing more towels.

If you want to do laundry...the machines are free for DVC members, but you need to either buy laundry detergent or bring your own. I bring along some free samples I've received in the mail.

Have a great trip!

This is not allowed, according to the rules. Additional towels can be purchased/rented from housekeeping, or as mentioned above, you may launder your own at no charge for use of the washers and dryers.

However, I have returned to the villa from the pool with a pool towel around my waist or in my hair, and on those occasions I make sure to return them to the pool area when done!

For studios I would bring, coffee, creamer, sugar and filters if you need more than the 1 or 2 provided. There are plastic utensils but I would pack in the suitcase a pairing knife to cut hard cheeses etc. (can't do anything with plastic) and a few zip lock bags with a couple sheets of foil if you plan on having food etc. for storage in the fridge!

There is a wine opener but it's the archaic kind that is hard to work so I bring my own, nerver leave home without it!

Salt and pepper! Etc.

Shampoo, conditioner etc..... Hair dryer is provided!

Thank You so much! I think I will bring my own towels from home. I will bring a different color so I do not mi them up. KMart has face towels this wk a pack of 8 for $2.99 I will pick up 2 packs because my girls go through them like tissues and if I eave them I will not care because of the price.

How is the coffee in Mara? I figure it is cheaper to buy a mug them buy all the coffee supplies. I have a Keurig so I do not have the supplies at home.

Thank You so much for all your replies!!!!

So excited!!!!

I don't care for ANY of the coffee on-property. I know they changed brands just recently and I admit I haven't tried it since they did.

Driving or flying? You didn't say so I assume you're flying. We drive and we (like a LOT of others here) take our Keurig with us every trip. Wouldn't go without it. We get K-Cups at the Super target on 192 when we get there most of the time.

IF I was flying, I'd skip the extra towels and use the space for my Keurig. :lmao: Seriously.

Life's a lot easier at WDW if you have a car.

LOL!! Yes it is, I live an hour away. I would bring it but for 4days I think it will be more of a hassle. Thank You though I think that is a great idea for a longer stay.

You will have four bath towels, two hand towels and four face cloths (plus a tub mat). You'll get a single pouch of coffee that will make about four cups. You should get a small bottle of dishwashing liquid. You'll also have a small stack of paper plates and bowls, plus plastic flatware, a couple of ceramic mugs and a few glasses.

Thank You, this is the info. I needed.

btw, their coffee comes in a pouch (no separate filter needed), and makes 8 cups (HKing left us anywhere from 1 to 6 :confused3). we buy/bring our own coffee (& tea), bottled water (for coffee, etc), flat bottom filters, plus sweet n low and sugar. packets with non-dairy creamer, sweetners, & coffee stirrer are in kitchenette.
cabinets have:
4 ceramic coffee mugs
4 "real" glasses
stack of coated paper plates & bowls (again, we've received anywhere from 8 of each to a few inch stack of more than 30).

facial tissue, toilet tissue, paper towels, as well as the previously stated scrubber sponge & small liquid detergent, are provided. a cloth dish towel and bath mat are also.

if you use a regular (conair type) hairdryer at home, theirs is fine. we keep a rusk speedfreak dryer (amazingly fast) in our OL. we also have a super-absorbent hair towel (sold at BB&B, and places like target, etc). there is a pull-out clothesline in the shower for drying bathing suits, towels, etc.
3 females with long hair will probably need more shampoo & conditioner than those little bottles provide. soap (1 little bar of facial & 1 of body), as well as a small bottle of body wash are provided.

things we found we needed:
zip-locks (as beasly said), pitcher (and whatever powdered drink you like), salt & pepper, small magnifying mirror (mirrors are either inconvenient or in dim light), first aid supplies (inc moleskin), nail scissor, moisturizer, power strip (great with all the cell phones, tablets, etc).

there is a coffee maker, toaster, microwave, dorm-size fridge (freezer section is small, with just a plastic flap separating it from fridge area).

hth:)

If you are planning on eating cereal in the morning. I would bring paper/plastic bowls. They give you some, but they are really small.

Also, make sure you wash the plastic ware rather then throwing it out or you may find you need more by the end of your trip.

If I run out of "dishes" or plastic ware, I ask housekeeping when I see them in the hall and they always supply more.

Is there a freezer section in the refrigerators. In another post on a different thread, they said the studio refrigerators did not have a freezer. If there is a freezer than I want to bring an ice tray. Can you let me know? ;)

It is a dorm style refrigerator and typically has a very small freezer section within it.

I want to bring an ice tray.

there is an ice tray in the freezer (which we usually remove to fit water bottes & food).
also, every room has an ice bucket, and there are ice machines in every resort.

Have you considered getting an Owners Locker?

Then you only have to bring (or buy) all the stuff you think you need on every visit only once, then stow every thing in the Owners Locker box and have it wait for you on your next visit, where you will travel much lighter.

there is absolutely NO reason for you to bring towels... just ask the lady cleaning around the halls I the am, or keep your pool towel, no one cares! everyone brings their pool towel home and then takes them back.
bottled water for coffee, unless you like chlorine flavored coffee and I am a picky coffee drinker so I bring my own.
they have blow dryers. we always have snacks on hand, there is a thread on here , " studio dinning and recipes... check it out. I think it will help you. Have fun! you're gonna love it! :cheer2:
