1st place you ate at WDW?

Papeete Bay Verandah in September 1975. What a great place--Pacific Rim menu, 3 piece combo and a hula dancer entertaining throughout the evening.
Of course ,they had to replace it with O'hana:mad:

We ate at the Coral Isle Cafe in the Polynesian Resort. Today it's the Kona Cafe.

My first meal at DIsney was last year, so this is a moot point, but I just loved it, so: Trail's End Bkfst buffet! I absolutely adored it!!!!

The Moroccan cafe - Tangierine(?).
My dad took my to WDW for the first time about three years ago. We went to Epcot on our first night there, and just picked a random place to have a quick dinner before Illuminations. :P

What a great thread. I loved reading everyone's stories. For me it was back in the 1970's. I went with my mom. Our first meal was at what is now called Chef Mickey's in the CR where we stayed. I don't know what it was called back then does anyone know? We had breakfast there and I remember jumping out of my skin when a pair of fuzzy hands came over my eyes! LOL it was Chip! I'll never forget it. I get teary eyed and think of my mom who saved hard to take us there. She was a single mom because my dad had died when we were all very little. I remember she went on Space Mountain with us and we thought that it was so cool that my mom rode it! One of our best dinners was somewhere that I don't recall. It was a dinner with Sherry Lewis and Lambchop!

We had a blast I'll never forget it. I remember we all were walking down Main Street near the end of our trip with all of us wishing why can't we just live here forever? It was just so happy and clean and magical.

I still feel that way whenever I walk down Main Street!

My first meal was at the restaurant in the Disney Inn. We had just finished driving down and we were all starving when we got there. They allowed us to get an appitizer since it wasn't quite time for their dinner to begin. When we sat down we had these HUGE shrimp cocktail. These were some of the largest shrimp that I STILL have ever seen. It was at that point that my dad said to my mom, "You've chosen a great vacation."

BTW, we were on the Gold Key plan where you had to eat at a sit down restaurant for the plan to pay for your meal.

Gosh, started going when I was about 3-1984. First vivid meal memory was at the Tangoroa Terrace at the Polynesian. There was a ts breakfast, then it became a Asian buffet for dinner if I recall correctly. Does anyone else remember the paper Goofy glasses menu that was a picture of two fried eggs with holes and bacon slices for the sides-you could wear them as glasses? Now that was sweet when I was little;) .

I forgot to mention my first character meal, maybe 4 years old. Pluto stole my stuffed Chip and Dale plushes and banged them together. Goofy intervened-but Pluto ripped a hole in Chip's head-I was traumatized.

Ah, yes-I remember it well. It was in 1987-the Liberty Tree Tavern. At the time we lived outside Boston, and I thought it was so ironic that of all the resturants around, we ended up at one very much like back home. But we got hungry,we didn't know our way around, so we just went to the first place we saw. What is really sad, however,is knowing that every meal we took our (then) young kids to is no longer in existence-Melvin the Moose, Empress Lily, Minnie's Menehune, and some character meal at the Contemporary (not Chef Mickey's).

I don't remember the first Disney meal I had, since I was 11 months old. Yeah, my parent's were Disney addicts and I've grown up just like them. :)
But, I recall a lot of my meals in my childhood but my favorite has to be when I was 5 years old I remember going to Chef Mickey's at night and watching the fireworks from MK and I ate at the desert bar for about 45 minutes. :)
And now, at 15 I still do the same thing. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have great memories of eating at a place in Disney Land in the 80's when I was a kid, it was kind of in Pirates ride. You could dine on a patio that was at the end of the ride and could see the boats passing. I have no idea if that place is even still around or the name because I was like 10 yrs old, but I do remember it.

First trip was in 1976. I don't remember for sure what our first meal was, but I think it was the Coral Isle Cafe at the Polynesian Resort (now Kona Cafe). I know that every year after that it was our traditional first dinner, because we'd just stay at the resort after a long travel day.

No idea, I was 3 and it was 1972!

The first trip I remember a restaurant from would be our 1985 trip when we had dinner in the Castle!

Allyson :)

ours was Ohana breakfast. it was 06 our first trip. I can still see my son's face when he saw stitch for the first time. Priceless:cloud9:

We went in December 1971 and stayed in the Contemporary Resort. We have the original statement and it was $29.00 a night.

The restaurant that is now Concourse Steakhouse was a buffet. I dont recall the name, but we ate there every night.

IIRC: First meal was mid-90s, Chefs de France for lunch with BFF; first character meal was Crystal Palace a couple years later; first resort was either Jiko or CaliGrill.

The first meal we had was Alfredo di Roma in Italy in June, 2002. We were SO hungry and hot. And the food was awesome. On return visits, though, it never lived up to the memory of that first time. (I think we thought it was awesome because we really were THAT hungry!)

First place I ever ate at WDW was in 1996 at the castle. At the time, this was a non-character meal and the restuarant was known as King Stefan's Table (or something like that). That is about all I remember from the meal.
