OK, so I've said 'Hello' to everybody, and I've got my new countdown, so now its time for my first lot of questions. Here goes......

1. How much French do I need to be able to speak? I have a very limited basic level of French but I don't mind spending some time learning some more before we go. DH will be leaving it all up to me as his way of speaking a different language is to speak S...L...O...W...E...R... and LOUDER!

2. Do they do fireworks around the 5th November? I love fireworks, they are always one of my highlights of any Disney holiday.

3. Will we be there too early for the Christmas decorations to be up?

4. At that time of year will it be busy? What will the ride queues be like?

5. A lot of people seem to stay on the Admirals Floor in Newport Bay, we're only staying in a standard room (watching the pennies for this trip). Are they OK or is there 'a reason' why people tend to go the the Admiral Floor?

That's it for now, I'm sure I'll think of more as soon as I hit the submit button but I'll save those ones for another day.

Thanks

Pam

I'm not very good beyond Bonjour and Merci but if you make an effort it is appreciated. Most CM's can speak English. Look aout for name badge that has countries language the CM can speak.

They did not have when we went, but hopefully some one else can help?

You might be just too earlier for official start, but maybe the park will have some of the changes since they beginning after Halloween.

When we went the middle of November crowds were managable. Weekends as expected get busy.

I'd suggest you'll be fine. Gives you more money to spend at the park :)

Hi,
I think in early november they have a few special firework evenings, but I am not too sure. Hopefully someone else will know.
I think the Christmas decorations went up very early last year, yet I do not think all the shows etc. started that early. Again, hopefully someone else will know.
Also, do not worry about the French, you do not need to speak much to go, there is so much English around anyway.

Re your question about Admirals Floor rooms, a friend of mine chose Admirals Floor because you can have Breakfast to bring to your room. She had stayed at NBC before and found the breakfast scrum a little overwhelming. As my friend went the first week in August each time, I expect the Hotels were all full.

I'm sure that the ordinary rooms are very nice, and you'll have a great time.

I believe that the Bonfire Spectaculars are on 6th, 8th and 10th of November this year. This is done on Lake Disney and lasts about half an hour.

It's very likely that the main park decorations will have been put up before you go, and you'll probably see more and more going up while you're there.

Staying on the Admiral Floor means you get a hair dryer in your room, and the chance to order from a very limited room service menu!!! There is also a separate check in, but for various reasons it doesn't necessarily mean that's any quicker than the standard room check in. For us the best thing was being able to have breakfast in your room, but that still costs an extra 10 euros. So if you don't go at peak times, the hotel or Good Morning Fantasyland breakfast is just fine. IOW there are no great benefits to staying on the AF!!!

The only French I used while in DLP was pardon.. was bumping into people left right and center.

We went to one of the bonfire spectaculars last November and it was indeed spectacular!!!!

We went on 6th November and all the decorations were up, all the hotels were decorated too, there was snow in Main Street, Christmas Parade, Father Christmas and 2 Christmas shows - Belle's Musical Medley and Mickey's Winter Wonderland plus Fantillusion and the Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony which is absolutely wonderful every evening in the park. You'll have such a fantastic time!!!

You will be fine using just English. Every time I go, I always start to talk in English, and if I see the CM has difficulties answering me, I switch to French (which I know better than English, oops!) Many CMs are not from France, but from all over Europe/ the world

2. Do they do fireworks around the 5th November? I love fireworks, they are always one of my highlights of any Disney holiday.

I read somewhere they won't have fireworks again until 2007.

3. Will we be there too early for the Christmas decorations to be up?

usually, Christmas season is from November 9, 10 or 11, until one week after New Year (until yesterday). Before Christmas season, they have Halloween season, with lots of decorations in Frontierland (according to the pictures, have never been there for Halloween)

4. At that time of year will it be busy? What will the ride queues be like?

Belgian schools have vacation that week (I think), I don't know about the rest of Europe, so it could get busy.

5. A lot of people seem to stay on the Admirals Floor in Newport Bay, we're only staying in a standard room (watching the pennies for this trip). Are they OK or is there 'a reason' why people tend to go the the Admiral Floor?

No idea :)

Dates for the fireworks are in this year's brochure as Becky wrote above. We were there from 6th November in 2005 and all the decorations were up everywhere.

Hi,

We've been twice and although I know a little french - have never had to use it! the only time it was remotely needed was driving and DLRP is so well sign posted, even then it wasn't obligatory!!
Sorry can't really help with the rest of the questions, as i haven't been at that time of year .................and I'm a bit scared of fireworks
