$198,000 Disney wedding at Sams club?!?

What a HUGE waste of money. I don't care how much you have, spending that kind of money on a wedding is ridiculous. Desnik-even spending $30K on a vow renewal to me is just something I can't fathom-sorry. I guess I am just to practical to see the value in something like this :confused3. Do you know how much money that $200K could be in retirement dollars in 40 years for a couple???? Heck, even the $30K can translate into a nice chunk of change in 30 years.

I think they are only offering one of these packages and it has something to do with Mickey's 81st birthday. I think it has to be held on a certain day in November. I told my husband if we win the mega lottery and its mega--we can renew our vows for $198,000 plus tax and tips.

I guess I am too practical because I wouldn't choose to have a 200,000.00 wedding. If I had 200,000.00 to blow then I would choose 4 cruises around the world for 50,000.00 a pop.:goodvibes

For that price, it should include a night in the castle. Maybe that's extra??

Ugggh, it just sounds so trashy and vulgar. I mean, how exactly is it ok that WDW use guests who have paid hundreds of dollars to be extra's in some Rodney Dangerfield wedding?

For the record, I don't want to see someone get married at WDW. When I take MY kids I want the day to be about OUR FAMILY, MY daughter's dreams, MY son's thrills... I DO NOT want to spend thousands to have to ohh and ahh over someone else. WDW has lost all sense of class in this little escapade.

I know many people feel this way about our vow renewal. Normally I would agree. But we never had a wedding. A major reason we are doing this big vow renewal is because we were in a very bad car accident(with our 2 kids) and we all almost died. We had a very hard road to recovery and felt that we wanted to celebrate our lives and love in a big way. Once we got our settlement we set aside an amount we were comfortable with to celebrate and spend on us. The vow renewal is just how we chose to do it.

I just find it hugely ironic that it's being sold at Sam's Club. :rolleyes1

Aren't you suppossed to be saving money by shopping at Sam's Club????

I am not judging you, I just couldn't do it-I would spend the rest of my life with a bad case of the "what if's" on how we spent that money. I am inherently cheap so it comes from that :lmao:. I DO hope you have a wonderful time and it is a wonderful reason do have a vow renewal!!

Well, if you bought it at Walmart vs Sam's Club it would be $202,000 instead so you are saving money :lmao::lmao::lmao:

You guys haven't planned a fancy weeding in a while have ya? LOL
I didn't spend no where near that much but my neice got married 2 years ago and dropped 10K on her wedding dress alone. By the time we finished with sit down reception for 300, live band, DJ, limosines (sp) and flowers by dad was joking that we could have brought a house. We're in NYC so cost are higher.

Believe me 200K does not shock me.

To me it doesn't matter how this compares to the cost of other weddings, it is absurd how much people spend on weddings period. We had a VERY nice wedding, 200 people and we spent half of what your niece spent on her dress alone. You hit the nail on the head that people can buy a HOUSE for what they are spending on their weddings. Why did she need a live band AND a DJ, for instance??

Thanks! I didn't think you were judging, no worries!:goodvibes
I wouldn't consider myself & DH cheap so i guess it was easier for us to spend that kind of money on a vow renewal. But we only did it because there was enough money to go around, KWIM? We got a pretty big settlement. If we didn't I would never have spent that amount.

With that in mind I guess it is easier for really wealthy people to spend $200,000 on a wedding. You see it all the time on that show "Platinum Weddings".

What I really don't understand is why in the world is it being sold at Sam's Club?:confused3 That just makes no sense to me.

For the bride with more money than brains!

Why? :confused3

Stop hating ladies. If you've got that kind of money why is it a waste? Most millionaires aren't really struggling with their 401K's even in this economy. I've got a couple of friends who are wall street brokers and believe me, they spend 30K smoozing clients over the weekend.

Who do you think is out there buying multimillion dollar condos?

I never understood the mentality of the hate against rich people. If you can afford 200K in giant jaw breakers and you get the money legally, then you know what go for it. I see that on the budget board alot. Some one complaining because some one else spent 20K on a disney vacation.

Brides spending that kind of money keep a lot of people employed.

Dd told me last week she wanted her wedding at WDW. Its a good thing she's only 11, it looks like I'll need all those years to save up for it :lmao:

I just don't understand people spending the equivalent of a mortgage on their wedding, no matter where it is :confused3

My guess is that for whoever buys this package, they won't be spending the equivalent of a mortgage. They'll be spending the equivalent of a month's income.

It's all relative. 200k sounds like a lot to regular people. But for people who are worth millions or hundreds of millions, it's not a big deal.

I don't know who was in charge of marketing this, but they lost me at "guests can step out of the float GARAGE for a private viewing of wishes" A GARAGE!!! Ohhhh just what every little girl dreams of...royal icing and diesel exhaust!
Sorry I'm sure they can make it beautiful, but that part of the ad makes it sound like it belongs on "My Big Redneck Wedding" , a garage reception is not most girls idea of a "Fairytale"!!

Why is it absurd? My brother is rich,(he's a plastic surgeon) he can afford it. She wanted a live band for the "older" adults and a DJ for the younger crowd who likes rap.

What, if you can afford some thing you're not supposed to by it because some one else who can't doesn't think it's a good investment?

If that's the argument, the folks in rich areas like Palm Beach should all sell their mansions and downsize because middle class america thinks it's ridiculous to have a 22 room house.

They already have a very nice condo, both have great jobs.

Face it, there is an entire level of wealthy, honest Americans who deserve to spend their money any way they choose. Whether it's the $2,000/night presidental suite at the Wilderness lodge or an expensive wedding at the MK.

One more thing I wanted to add. I think when some say $200,000 could buy a house is forgetting that that is not true everywhere. I live in NY and $200,000 does not buy a house here! My $30,000 vow renewal is my cousins property taxes per year!

$198,000 for a wedding??? :scared1:

You can buy a house for that amount!!!

I just don't understand people wanting to spend that much for a wedding. :sad2:

:lmao: LOL Native NY'er here.
My dh and I thought we were getting a bargain when we found a nice house for $400,000 outside of Philly.
