Most Christmases we spent at my grandparents' house in Pennsylvania. They were GREAT! They had a little table top tree with the old decorations on them along with bubble lights. Under the table would be all the presents which always filled up that side of the room! We always opened the presents on Christmas Eve after dinner. For us kids, waiting until then was nearly impossible. When we were somewhat older, we would go to midnight mass at the chapel across the street. It was always decorated so beautifully. I used to sit in the wicker rocker in my grandparents' kitchen singing songs just waiting for Santa to arrive! My dad would come in and wake me up to scoot me to bed. His reason that Santa hadn't been there was that he must have hit some snow and was behind schedule. It satisfied me at the time.
One Christmas morning in particular, I remember running downstairs to see what Santa left. He left a doll in a cradle and a Barbie doll. I had to take Barbie with me, ran upstairs to wake my parents and get them downstairs. LOL! I miss those days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And for the first several years my grandparents had the old coal burning stove. And grandma still has it in her basement all these years later. Bless her heart, she'll be 92 on December 23.
