16 and Pregnant/Teen Mom Thread - Sad but true...we r hooked!

There's a lot of balancing to be a good parent at any age! The only difference is that no one criticizes the 35yo mom who still goes to her book club or scrapbooking crop when she has a newborn/infant/toddler, even if she does work outside the home as well. Teen parents should be treated similarly; no one should be relieving them of the responsibilities of parenting, but neither should they be made to feel like they need to be with the baby 24/7 to fulfill that responsibility.
:thumbsup2

Show me the mom who goes to bookclub or a scapping crop for 8 hours a night 4-5 nights a week, every week and I would say that they fall into the same category as Farrah! The problem isn't that she wants a life, her mom even said 1 or 2 nights a week is fine. She wants to do what she wants to do and that's all there is to it. Look at it this way, she gets up at 8am, goes to work and/or school til 7pm. Comes home, eats dinner, then leaves to go out with her friends at 9pm and doesn't roll in until 4am. :confused3 I don't know about you, but I don't keep a schedule like that, and IDK anyone else who does either! Yeah, I might go out for a couple of hours on a weekend night, or an hour or 2 to make a Walmart run. But jeez, 7-9 hours a night out partying?!?!? Who needs that kind of freedom?

I feel bad for Farrah. I don't think she's a June Cleaver type mom, but sometimes the editing isn't exactly in your favor. How many times did she go out on Teen Mom? A few, about 3 or so, right? Everyone assumes these were 3 consecutive nights or weeks...but that could have been over 3 months. We don't know for sure. Maybe MTV wanted footage of her going out, trying to find a man...who knows. I do agree she shouldn't have focused so much on trying to find a boyfriend, but she is still a teenager. It has to be hard to go from being a carefree teenager to a responsible mom....I'm sure some handle it better than others. When Maci went away to her friends college for the weekend, no one thought anything about it because she's been portrayed as a more responsible mom than Farrah (not saying she is or isn't, just my impression from the show). Had Farrah done that, she would have caught major heck for it.

Uh, I believe that her mom was quoted as saying that she goes out 4-5 nights a WEEK.

::yes:: Her mom also said that Farrah goes out from 7pm-4am.

Also, the episode where Farrah went to find an apartment, when she got home her mom asked her where she went. I get the feeling that Farrah just leaves and comes home when she feels like it.

yep. and i remember a few times that maci went out with her girlfriends too.

i get that feeling too. her mom just has that annoying monotone voice, and her dad doesn't have the you-know-whats to stand up to farrah either. i think they are raising that baby.

I was a teen parent all by my self and lived with my nagging mom.... I went to highschool and college full time... MY MOM NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER baby sat for me. If I had a dr apt or went to look for an apartment. I brought my daughter with me. I had her in day care while I was in school and i workd out and went to the gym while my daughter was in day care.. If I wanted a break I had to plan on how it was gonna happen.. My friends never baby sat either( they all were in higschool / college)... I lived w my mom until my daughter was 2 and I was 20.. I got married and my mom still never never baby sits my other children...

any way farah has it great.. I would have love to have had a break or my mom get up at 5 am w baby....when my baby was crying my mom said that I could still giv her up:sick:.. I had no help except that i was able to live there for free( of course I had to listen to her controll everything:scared1:)

any way shes 17 and shes a great daughter and Im blessed....

I don't know how you all felt but if you watched the previews for the episode, you pretty much saw everything they had for the unseen footage.

the difference is that ryan put his vehicle over bentley's needs. (the scene i'm referring to is when maci asked ryan to go to the store for bentley and he didn't have any money because he put that much in gas for the week, and later said he hadn't been looking for a job.)

ryan is just hanging out with is friends and going to clubs all hours of the night, while maci is at home with bentley or at work most of the time. and his excruciating schedule of partying and sleeping is too strict for him to go to relationship counseling with maci.

putting sixty dollars a week in your car is not bad, but it becomes bad when you a) don't have a job, b) aren't looking for a job and c) not providing for your child.

ryan makes me sick.

Ahh gotcha. I haven't seen all the episodes yet!

It doesn't appear as if she even asks her mom to watch the baby, she just assumes that she'll do it. She just doesn't seem very grateful.

Because Maci is more responsible. She is on her own most of the time, her parents are not watching her baby every day. Farrah goes out almost every day for hours at a time.

Exactly. Part of it is her mom's fault too - it appears that her mom is always willing to watch Sophia. If her mom just said no every now and then, I think Farrah would act completely different.

I watched the episode last night with the unseen footage and I got the impression that they were trying to make Farrah look like a better & more responsible mother. Like, when her friend asked her to visit her in college, she said it would be hard because she had to watch & care for Sophia.

It also made me sad to watch Ryan and Maci get along. In some parts of the episode they looked genuinely happy with each other. It's too bad Ryan's such a moron now.

I have a question that has been bothering me for some time, now, but really bothered me on the unseen footage episode. Not that it really matters or should bother me, but it does....

Is the guy that they say is Farrah's dad on the show her real dad or a stepdad. To me he never seems to have any kind of fatherly connection with Farrah. Whether that was him not wanting to be on the show, the editing, or how it really is I don't know. And then when her mom and him told Farrah about getting a divorce it was weird to me that they were questioning whether he wanted to be a part of their lives or if they would just cut him off. I don't know. It just seems weird to me...

I believe she has stated that he is her father on her twitter. I thought last night's episode was interesting with them. Throughout the season, Michael has seemed like the only level headed person in the house. I was shocked to hear that he's rarely home, so I really think there is more to the story than the audience knows (and deserves to know). Seems like there might be some back story from years ago that caused the family to feel divided.

I like the show because it shows how hard it is to be a teen mom and hopefully young girls can see this and realize that everything is not so "pretty" has it seems

i felt the same way. i wondered before too. they always call him michael. not dad. :confused3 i wouldn't call my dad walt, and when my mom talks to me, she refers to him as dad too.
in the part about the divorce you could see that farrah has some real issues with emotions. she shows no feelings what so ever. even when her dad tried to hug her she was cold and stiff. yuck......:sad1:

I haven't seen the entire season, nor did I watch 16 and Pregnant, but it seems as though there has been quite a bit of footage and pictures of Brandon and Theresa. How can it be possibly that they are maintaining anonymity? Surely SOMEONE recognizes them. It seems as though Catelynn and Tyler wouldn't have to try *too* hard to find out Carly's last name, which they claim they still don't know.

Ok, so I just watched the "unseen footage" tonight and I was wondering the same thing....what is up with Michael and Farrah and him getting a divorce. Michael seemed all emotional about it yet Farrah didn't shed a tear or even seemed to care that he was even talking to her....very cold.
Soooo, now I am thinking there has to be some back story to all this....like he possibly cheated on the mom or something. I mean Farrah seemed cold in both scenes discussing the divorce.
There is plenty MTV is not saying about all of the couples....for instance, Sophia's dad was killed in a car accident not long after she was born....none of that has ever been mentioned on the show and it was in all the news.

I went back and watched 16 and pregnant with Farah ( cuz I was snowd in) any way Farahs baby dad was on the phone with her( you could here him taliking to her ect) on the first show..she was saying that she was not going to tell him that she was pregnant.......ok:idea::idea::idea: now wouldnt he or his family put it all together when they reconize Farah pregnant on TV and they hear there sons voice:teacher::teacher:.....If I was the guy I would think:idea::idea:that It was my baby.......anyway the guy did end of passing away...so sad:hug:
