Good morning, everyone!

It's finally here...my first weigh in day after giving it my all again. I'm pretty nervous about this evening. I know I've lost some, I'm just afraid I'll be disappointed because it's not much. I tend to get impatient and give up. But, since I can come here every day (and it has been helping!), I'm determined to keep the momentum going this time. :Pinkbounc

I'm hoping to pick up my Borders book on my way home from work tomorrow! :cool1:

I really reigned it in last night. I did my 80 minutes on the treadmill, slower than usual because of the ridiculous heat and humidity. I had cherries for dessert. I let myself have one Lindt chocolate ball as my reward at the end of every night. It's two points, but that means no other "bad" snacks.

My dh didn't feel like cooking last night (he's our chief chef), so I was faced with takeout. I asked him to go to Subway, and I got a 7pt. Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki. That took alot of willpower, but it was delicious! Making good choices when I eat out will make a big difference for me, because we pretty much eat out from Friday night until Sunday lunch. I'm not proud of that, it just tends to be how we live. We have started grilling more on the weekends, but we are very bad about picking up a takeout menu. I plan good meals from Sunday-Thursday, they just don't always get made.

My new plan is to eat a banana and Special K bar in the morning. The banana really helps me feel full until lunch. I'm having a cottage doubles (cottage cheese with blueberries or raspberries) for lunch, along with 15 Kashi TLC crackers. Then later in the afternoon I eat cherries as a snack.

I don't stop to think or pass go, as soon as I get home I get on the treadmill and do my 80 minutes, at whatever speed I can handle that day. Then I start my afternoon routine, getting our family ready for the next day. By the time I have dinner (usually 7:30), it's late enough that I need to go to bed in about 1.5 hours.

I have a super early bed time, because I get up at 5:45, and I'm a grouch if I don' get 7.5 hours of sleep. After I go to bed, I usually read for about an hour. I have to have my book time!

Suz and Lisa - I am 5'4 as well! Lisa, everything is harder when you have a headache. Just focus on doing what you can each day. That's my new mantra. I get so fixed on the scale, and I forget that I have to do things every day to see results. We all have hard days, and this is a great place to talk about it. Actually writing it out helps me put it in perspective, and realize that I can do this!

Tigercheer - I hope the uniform try-on went well. It's so exciting when you can actually see your results in action! :cheer2:

Linda - I had my first taste of Coldstone Creamery last week. That could easily become a place I stop way to often! Did you make it to 10,000 steps? My stride is so small, I have to do more like 15,000 to make 5 miles.

Kathy - you are doing a great job with your exercise. It's true, if you're passing the gym anyway...it's pretty hard not to feel guilty!

Sthronds - I also sit all day at work, in front of a computer. I've been making myself get up and take a 15 minute walk break in the morning (I do laps around our office before anyone else arrives), and also try to walk at lunch. I'm on the 4th floor of a building without an elevator, so just forcing myself to leave means I'll get my heart rate up coming back. Congratulations on your 2 pounds, that is awesome!!

Tara - these weigh in days are hard, aren't they?! I know you will do well, and you are such a positive person, that you will find a silver lining even if you don't get the results you are hoping for.

I probably missed someone, please know that I am sending out wishes for wonderful weight loss for all the 150ers! :wave2:

Quick weigh in update...179.4!!! I'm FINALLY back in the 170's!!! YAHOO!!!! I'm pretty sure my lowest was 179.0!!! To think that I could be below that on my weigh in day would be AWESOME!! Thursday is my official weigh in...I really attribute my losses to cutting out sugars/white flour and walking that monster speed with my neighbor...

Maria!! You did GREAT on the eating!! YAHOO!!! Please remember that weigh ins are there to help show your successes but measuring with a tape also will help you see yourself shrinking! 80 minutes on the treadmill is SOOOO into fat burning zone there's no way you could not lose some pounds...but it's also GREAT at toning the waist/hips/thighs...so don't forget to measure there...you'll be sooo happy with the results! I've lost 78 pounds since my all-time highest...and there have been weeks where the scale made NO sense...I did everything right...and no budge...and then some weeks I thought I'd messed up and I'd be down 3 pounds...so it can be schizo on you....let your energy level and clothes be a guide for you, too!
Great breakfasts!!! And KUDOS on picking Subway!!! Lots of good veggies on those subs! :) Can't wait to hear your weigh in, I know you'll be happy!!!

Tracy! My scale broke down about 2 weeks ago...had to toss it..Costco has a really good one that measures in .2 increments for less than $30. I'm loving being able to see .2 losses! :) I'm sure you'll get 4 miles of walking in today with all the running around you do with little one! :) Stay strong and sleep is a great tool to help your body prepare itself for losing...you're doing GREAT!!!

Tara

Another 1 lb. down! That puts me at 202. I am so close to making ONEDERLAND!

Gotta go. Still catching up from trips so not much time to talk. I am reading when I can and everyone is doing great! Keeping drinking and losing! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Morning girls! Everyone is doing great so far. Keep up the hardwork, it will definitely be worth it in the end. I am wearing a shirt today that hasn't fit in years! I have still only lost 4 lbs, but for a week and half not bad. Last night Dh made chicken tacos that were so yummy! We used whole wheat tacos and grilled chicken. I still had a sweet craving afterwards so I took a tiny 1/2 cup tupperwear bowl and filled it with chocolate ice cream, only8 grams of fat, but the best part is I only ate half! I didn't even want the rest! Then we went out for a walk/jog/run thing. I did a mile and half.

Worfiedoodles- I love the rewarding yourself with a book deal. I might have to try that!

lmhall2000- WHOOHOOO!! The 170's! You go! :cool1:

Lesli54- Only 2 lbs to do! You could be there by this weekend!! :wizard:

Hello Fellow Losers!!!

Congratuations Tara on hitting the 170's. Next stop, the 160's :teeth:

I'm still trying to get into the 140's and the scale has been teasing me the past couple of weeks. I lost .8 this week :guilty: so I'm currently at a 150.2 Soooo close..... Hopefully next week, I can have celebrate next week.

Lesli, Lesli, Lesli!! Do you realize how super duper close you are to ONEDERLAND??? I think you deserve an extraordinarily big reward for you success! Please please indulge when you see that scale...and I mean with the good indulges like new clothes, something nice for yourself....just TREAT YOURSELF!!! You're a big loser!!!!

agotta!!! You're eating like you're already 150!!! WAY TO GO!!!! Only half the ice cream???? BIG WOOHOOS!!! And 4 pounds in 10 days is NOTHING to nod off!!! It's a BIG BIG LOSS!!! And it means you've been working hard!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Tera!!! only .3 minor pounds to see 14something on the scale!!! Aren't you just tickled pink? :Pinkbounc I know you'll see it next week!! We're cheering you through!!! :cheer2:

Well, in the past week I've made two homemade cakes and not even been tempted!!! I love low carbing...I hate the first few days but it really changes my cravings....it's truly wonderful for this carb junkie. I'm having meatballs and green beans and salad for dinner and that sounds better to me than the cake does! :)

ONWARDS & DOWNWARDS GANG!!!

Tigercheer...how did the uniform tryout go??? I bet you were pleasantly surprised!!! :)

Tara

Hey all!!!!! Lesli-AWESOME! agotta-AWESOME! TaraTaraTara-AWESOME!!!

Okay...the tryout! I was too something (I don't really know what to classify that emotion as...I guess "gym class-y") to take my clothes off and try it on try it on. But it fit...and it was comfy. I'm really not disappointed! I have to switch off uniforms with her at the 1/2way point. She's bigger than I am, so thank heavens for the little victories!

Happy Hot Sweaty Afternoon!! :sunny:

Chicago is sweltering AGAIN!! Suppose to go walk with my friends tonight. Woo Wee it is going to be a hot one:):)

Puppy actually slept from 11pm to 6:30am YIPPEE!!!! :cool1: :goodvibes

Ok so I started out strong walking and then had to take the pedometer off (don't even remember why) - guess what happens :confused3 me the dope forgot to put it back on!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............got to get the brain engaged.

Lesi - ONEDERLAND is calling your name!! Keep going and then drag me with when you are cruising through the 160s :Pinkbounc

Tera - Keep Leading the way out of the 150s....... :cool1: :cool1:

Tara - Hurry Hurry Hurry!!!!! The 160s are so close and maybe by then I will have my act together and we can run to the 150s!!! :cheer2:

Agotta - You are doing GREAT!! Keep it up.......... :cheer2:

Maria - what book did you get? No, didn't make 10000 steps because I forgot to put the blasted pedometer on-----I am only 5'1" so my steps are shorter than yours :rotfl2:

Schatz - SSR just didn't appeal to us. We were there when it first opened. The CMs were not very helpful - there was no one to direct us to our room and no one explained to us that room 2485 was NOT on the 2nd floor but on the 4th floor (they use the second digit). No one in housekeeping spoke english so we had to get an interpretor in just to get more towels. We were so unhappy that Disney moved us to the Boardwalk for free. Just the whole feel was very uneasy can't quite explain it but none of the family is interested in ever going back there. Have never stayed at BCV only at BWV and LOVE IT!!

Anyway off to brave the heat and yes I will remember to put my pedometer on but I have already blown the day:):)

I also finished 43 bridal shower favors this morning that have been consuming me so that is one less excuse I have.

This group is one of the best things that has ever happened to me :grouphug: the more the merrier.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

Linda

Happy evening!

I am so excited! I had my WW weigh in, and that is the toughest scale in town...I was down 4.2 pounds!!! I could not be happier. :Pinkbounc And, even better, I didn't come home and pig out like I usually do. I ended up chatting on the phone with a friend, and so I didn't have that awful lull between dinner and getting home. Did I mention that I also got on the treadmill right after work?! I am so proud of me I could bust. So, I have joined the ranks of the 170s again, 177.8. I really think the 160s are doable before our trip at the end of August. With the focus I am getting from the 150s group, every thing seems a lot more possible! Thanks so much for everyone's support. Honestly, if I wasn't coming here and talking about my "journey", I think it would be a short trip to nowhere...

Tara - we are going to the 160s together! Thanks for the good advice. I definitely need another measure besides the scale, because I know I'm not going to have a big loss every week. I realize alot of what I lost was probably water and because of the end of tom, but I'm happy anyway.

Lesli - are you going to NY with the Girl Scouts? I am a lifetime member, this is my 31st year. Yes, I started in first grade.

Agotta - Four pounds in a week and a half is awesome, you should be very proud!

Tera - It must feel so great to be going out of the 150s. You are an inspiration to me!

Tara - Can I eat at your house? Your meals sound wonderful.

Tigercheer - Yeah! I know that must have made you so happy to have it fit. You rock!

Linda - I'm going to choose my book tomorrow after work. I wanted to be able to record a real loss before I got the book. Actually, I'll probably pick it out tomorrow on Amazon, but buy it at Borders. I have to hurry home because we have in-laws visiting for the night.

My dh's stepfather and his new bride are spending the night with us before they catch a very early flight for Alaska. So, I have a million things to do before they arrive, and I won't get to work out tomorrow. Plus, we'll probably have pizza for dinner. On the bright side, after that meal I can go right back to doing what I need to do. Plus, I just did 4 days on the treadmill in a row, so my hips and feet are begging me to take a day off.

Well, here's the tricky part. I've had good weeks before, but honestly, I can't put two in a row. That's my challenge this week, another week with a loss. I need to think of a good reward for the 160s, to encourage me to keep working on getting there. Any ideas? I can always get another book, I love to read way to much! I hope everyone is having a great night :wave2:

Hey there Worfiedoodles!!! Congrats on the downage poundage!!!!!!!!!! I'm pullin' for you to get a two week loss! I have the utmostest faith that you can do it!

Thanks for the rockin' words! I'm soooooo (not soo!) with you on the book thing. I like Dave Barry's funny books, Harry Potter, Nancy Drew, Whale Talk by Chris Crutcher (wonderful book!!), Gregor the Overlander and The City of Ember. Great...I'm started again with the books, I could totally go on all night!

This is just a quick check-in, while I don't offically weigh in until Fri. I stepped on the scale this morining and it is already showing a 2 lbs loss. So this is looking like a WOOSH week for me. DS4 seems to be better as far as the bladder spasams, but he seems to have something bothering his stomach. He acts fine most of the time but has periods where he complains that his stomach hurts, since he has a sensitive stomach it could be anything.

Today we did go to the zoo, and had a blast, so I got alot of exercise. We also packed a picnic lunch so it was diet friendly.

Maria - Congratulations on the weight loss. What book did you buy?

Agotta - Congratulations, 4 lbs is awsome.

Lisa - You asked if I had a name you could use, my real name is Regina. My screen name is my initals and the numbers are DH's firefighter numbers.

Regina

Maria - Congratulatins on the HUGE loss and reaching the 170's. You'll definitely be in the 160's in no time. I can't wait to see all the celebrating we're going to have in the next few weeks

Food for today:
Breakfast cheerios with 1%milk and splenda
Snack Apex meal replacement bar (150 Cal)
Lunch Creole chix sandwich (didn't eat the roll), Spicy waffle fries (did eat) :guilty: :guilty:
Supper Rice pilaf w/ pine nuts
Water About 60 oz.
After dinner snack diet soda (wanted ice cream)

Debated with self about the exercise. It was too hot and humid to take a walk. Thought I would go for a bike ride. Rode 10 miles in 45 min. It felt cool until I stopped and then I was dripping sweat.

Tara - great job being back into the 170's. You are dropping those pounds pretty fast and should see the 160's in no time.

TigerCheer2009 - there are worse hobbies than reading. You can read while on the exercise bike and some people manage to read on the treadmill. You can expand your knowledge and get your exercise too.

Worfiedoodles - great job on the weight loss. You seem to have your program figured out with the heatlthy eating and the exercise.

To all I have missed - great job. Keep losing and moving.

Congrats on your great day and on not giving in to ice cream. I for one LOVE ice cream too, and have some every day. My two choices are those Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches (other companies make them too, but I like the Mint ones that Skinny Cow makes) and the Weight Watchers Cookies and Cream bars (those are SO yummy!).

So I just wanted to mention that there are low calorie ice cream choices. BTW, at McDonalds their ice cream cone is 150 calories (according to their website). If I want to go out for a treat, that is where we go.

I am also hooked on Pringles No Fat BBQ chips. When I want something salty, that is my snack (only 15 chips though, that is 1 serving).

Good evening everyone!

I’m having a much better day today! No headache and I accomplished a lot! I had a test tonight (already graded - I got an A!), wrote a paper, and finished another project for my class. My mom and I went to our local mall today to walk. We were able to get in 45 min. Tomorrow we plan on going to the aquasize class at our gym. I’m excited, as I love to swim!

Another item I wanted to add is that will be turning 25 in March. Yes, I know it is a number of months away, but I’ll be a quarter of a century old! Most of my life I’ve been overweight and unhappy with my appearance. My goal is to be as happy as possible when I turn 25. I don’t know why, but this number just sticks in my head.

As for my eating today, I would say that I am at 75% of 100%. I had an awesome day until I went to class. I was busy working on a paper that had to be turned into and didn’t make time to eat so, of course, I was starving when I got to class. I got a vending machine dinner - I know, I know…bad! However, with that being said, I did have a really great day. I even worked through my stress by eating cherries while I was writing my paper. My goal was to get every bit of the cherry off of the pit…this was really good for my concentration and it took a long time to get this task done…much healthier than chips!

Now onto the other responses…

Tara - Thank you for your kind words! It’s good to know that my novels will be appreciated! ;) Isn’t it amazing how kids can read your face? I worked this year with a woman who had to leave work because of a brain tumor. She was an aide in my class, as well as another class. The kids new something was wrong, as they saw it on my face…she had just passed away. They are very perceptive. I hope all is well with the house! Yes, on the weight loss! Woo hoo!

Tracy - Thank you for your kind words, as well! Yeah, I’m a little nuts with the three classes, but (selfishly) I would like to get going on my Masters and I would like a bump up on the pay scale. Besides, it’s the summer and I can do more in the summer than during the school year. I tend to run around like a chicken with my head cut off all year long…I’m hoping this gets better as I enter my third year of teaching. If I decide to change schools, I’ll let you know! :) Hope the bonding can continue at a more decent hour of the day!

Maria - I would say that most of my friends are 5’4.” Funny, huh? Nice job on the weight loss! Amazing! Did you get your book from Borders? I was going to go to the bookstore today, but thought I would go on Thursday. I have a gift card for the mall near my work and I’m going to stop in and put a few things away that I’ve bought this summer. Those cherries are delicious, aren’t they? Yum!

Lesli - Congrats on your weight loss! We are both so close to onederland! Yes!

agotta - Great choices for yourself! I love tacos…yum! :)

Theresa - You are so close! I am so jealous! I know you will get rid of that last .2. How awesome!

Jen - Yeah on your progress! Woo hoo! :)

Linda - It was hot today, wasn’t it? Tonight it cooled down quite a bit, though, which I was glad for! I totally misread what you wrote about the shower favors. I swear it said that you had 43 showers to go to! I thought…good grief…get that lady a loan! She’s gonna go broke! Phew…glad it was only the favors. Gotta get my eyes checked…

Regina - Thanks for letting me know about your name! Didn’t want to be rude and offend anyone either way! :) I’m loving that those two pounds are gone! Yes! I’m hoping for more on Friday for you!

NYcpa - Nice job with the workout! I went for a walk today and was sweating in the mall! I can imagine how you must have felt outside!

DJ (Debra) - You are making me hungry for ice cream! Yummy!

If I missed you, it doesn’t mean I love you any less! I just forget to write things from time to time!

I’m hoping to be up to at least 80% on the eating plan tomorrow! Here’s to a new us! :)

Lisa

Wow!!! There's soooo much losing going on around here that I don't know where to begin so I'll just give a rousing

Okay...someone's playing tricks...none of my smilies to the right will click on!!! So here's another approach...

LOOK AT WE LOSERS GOOO GOOOO! Okay that didn't work either...I'm getting no big size letters and no colors!!! OH MY GOSH...do you mean I'll have to use words to express my emotions??????

AWESOME JOB LOSERS!!! I'm still in the 170's...managed to creep up from 179.4 to 179.8...guess my body needed to rebound from so much weight loss or could it be that one single solitary bite I had of a cake I made for my cousin's birthday? By the way, it was the BEST yellow cake and homemade chocolate icing I've ever tasted...took all my self control not to go for another bite...if anyone likes to bake...I'll send you the recipe! It's wonderful!

Tomorrow is my official weigh in so I'll be anxious to see what this first week of stage 1 SBD did for me...I'll only do one more week of this because I can feel my body not adjusting while doing this fast walking...managed the first two miles this morning at a 16 minute pace and finished the whole 4.3 miles in 1 hour and 12 minutes...whew!! Maybe the .4 gain is from all that muscle I'm building! :)

So just imagine a bunch of smilies jumping up and down...they just aren't working for me today!!! And Linda...you better not wait for me and Maria to hit you in the 160's!! If you hold up for us we're gonna kick your tail down to the 150's! :)

Tara

Good morning! I've already been foiled -- I forgot my banana for breakfast . Nevermind, I'll just stick to the Special K bar. I know I won't have a good dinner, so... I brought my cottage cheese, Kashi crackers and cherries for lunch.

With the in-laws visiting tonight, I won't get to check in again until tomorrow morning. Then I'll be able to tell you all about my new book!

I'm so glad I have somewhere to come tomorrow to get me back on track. I'm also going to be a little off next week because our WW center lost it's lease, and the Tuesday night meeting was cancelled. I'll be going on Wednesday, but that gives me one more day before weigh in to lose a little more! I hope I like the Wednesday leader...

I'm following the WW program, but honestly, I get very little from the meetings. Coming here is giving me much more support! I also have a new incentive. With just .8 more, I can change from "Dis Wish Member" to "Dis 5 lbs". I am really excited about that! :bounce:

Let's have a downward day!

Good morning Everyone,

I just want to let everyone know how much I appreciate this group. It has helped me to get motivated again and to see that I'm not the only one who has the daily ups and downs of weight loss. So Thanks

I was able to get a walk in today. Did 3.1 miles. I think I continue with 3.1 until Monday and up it a bit. I just have to figure out what to add without killing myself. Today the sky opened up on us. We were about 1.5 miles into it and down came the rain. Sweat and water running into my eyes, clothes soaking wet, but it did feel cooler. The weather here in PA has been horrible!

Thanks Everyone

Congrat to everyone on their loss. I need to find a method of keeping everyones name straight, I'll get to that later, right now Mickaellya is beckoning me.

Good evening everyone!

Just a short note tonight...Didn't get a chance to get to the class I wanted, too. I mixed up the time...oops!

As for me, restarting tomorrow. I had a week to fudge and what not so I'm getting down to the nitty gritty tomorrow morning.

Feel free to comment on my new journal.

Keep working hard, everyone!

I would love to hear some ideas for favorite snacks/foods you are using on your road to the 150s.

I mentioned a couple of mine, but I have a few more. Here are the ones that are helping me:

1. Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches
2. Weight Watchers Cookies and Cream bars (love these!)
3. Kraft 2% cheese sticks (these are prewrapped and have 90 calories)
4. Smart Bag pop corn (100 calories per bag--these are great at night)
5. Minute Maid Light Raspberry and Lemonade drinks (15 calories for 8 ounce cup, I use the raspberry for breakfast).
6. Pringles Fat Free BBQ and Sour Cream and Onion chips

These are the items I am using the most and that are helping me get through my days. I rotate between the Skinny Cow and the WW bars, but I have one every afternoon.

I would love some ideas for some other products you are using.

BTW, I am not following any specific plan. I do weigh in at Weight Watchers because I am a lifetime, and I am not where I go for free unless I go above my goal (which I set higher than I really wanted because I wanted to be free). I am just using the "eat less calories than you burn" idea. Plain and simple. So if there are a lot of 'carbs' or whatever in these snacks, that doesn't bother me. I look at calories.

I am sure there are some other great foods out there I haven't even tried yet (oh, and BTW, I am a vegetarian, so I don't eat meat, but I do eat milk and egg products).

Thanks!
