Maria - How did today go? Bet you are one step closer to getting your Borders Book!! What do you like to read? LOVE TO READ!! :Pinkbounc

Hello!

I did pretty good yesterday, considering. I walked to and from work from the subway (about 2.5 miles), and I did a 15-minute walking work break. Today I'm starting back on the treadmill.

Since I've been up since before 5 to see my dad off to the airport, I might as well get my workout in before it climbs to the 90s.

I had a good breakfast, o.k. lunch, and not so good dinner, but I did leave out lots of snacks, so that's actually an improvement.

Today I plan to tackle everything full force again. I have our grocery circular which starts tomorrow, so I'm going to plan our meals for the week and make a list, and try to get that done tomorrow before it gets hot. Having the right foods here to start with goes a long way for me.

We finally told our ds7 that about our trip in August, and he's very excited. I told him he would know where we were going on our family vacation when he opened a package, and when he did he found "Walt Disney World for Kids by Kids". He calmly said, "We're going to Walt Disney World, aren't we?". I was a little disappointed, but he showed his excitement later by looking at the book and asking lots of questions. We had told him it wasn't until the end of the summer, so he has some other things to look forward to, first.

Speaking of things he has to look forward to and avoiding temptation, he has two birthday parties this weekend (one on each day). My dh is taking him -- I won't have to say no to cake (I just can't!), and they are both at sports venues, so I think it's perfectly appropriate for dad to be in charge.

Anyway, I am really hoping to earn that book, and pretty determined right now. I am a voracious reader. I love mysteries, science fiction, romance, history -- I make time to read every day, because it's really important to me. I'd rather read a good book than watch most things on t.v.

What does everyone else like to read? There's nothing better than losing yourself in a good book!

Good luck to everyone today. I'm really excited about getting going on my weight loss plans, so I'm going to go hop on the treadmill! :Pinkbounc

Maria!! That's the way to do it!!! Walking to/fro work!!! It's little changes like this that really start the scale moving!!! BE PROUD!!!

Kathy! My dear mom is in NYC this week!!! You could have waived at her! :) I don't think I could tolerate the traffic though...I've only been to NYC once and it drove me nuts!! I just shut my eyes when the taxi drove...we scraped atleast 3 cars getting to/fro places...EEK! I think that was a pretty good eating day...I don't recommend skipping meals...it will make you hungrier later but you chose wisely for dinner and you're doing GREAT on your water!!! I had 2 diet cokes yesterday...UGH...I need to limit those..and up my water...I only had 2 glasses of water yesterday.

Linda...where do you find those bras??? I'm in dire need for some bras...although I had put on 7 pounds..none of it was in the upper torso...and my bra cups used to be D's and now there's like a 1/2 cup of material just hanging there...I may just buy two transition bras to tide me over until I hit the 150's...I should settle at a 134 C when it's all done and said. But I don't want to be pinched until then! :)

Well, the scales showed a loss of .2 this morning...nothing like seeing that scale go DOWN!!!! I think I'll be back in the 170's before this 2 weeks is up and then I can really focus on seeing the 160's. Let's kick it team!!!

Tara

Can I still join your club?

Right now I weigh 204 so I'm currently in the 200 club, but would love to get down to 150 (or close to it - 160ish). My body is slow to lose weight so I'm going to do the best I can.

Please let me know what other information you need about me.

I look forward to our progress together! :)

WELCOME LISA!!!

All we need is your starting weight and we'll count you down to 159...that first weigh in at 150's is all we're looking for and then we'll cheer you down further to make sure you find a healthy weight for yourself! It's been so long since I was in the 150's...I really don't know if I'll need to stop there or go on down to the 140's...let us know how we can help you and struggles or weaknesses you have and we'll all come up with some ways that we've managed to lose...some of us are slow losers, some are fast then stall losers, some are just nice and easy pace losers...we've got the whole spectrum here...so come on in and let's get losing!!!

Welcome! You are at the exact same weight I was in January when I started visiting this WISH board. So glad you are joining us. This is a very active thread and you will find a lot of support here. I just love this group!

Actually I am THRILLED to report that I am squeaking into the 150s once again! I went to WDW last week just after I had finally made it to 158.8. I gained 4 pounds while I was there (I just returned home Tuesday night). This morning I am just .5 pounds above where I was when I left, so I am back in the 150s again and hoping by Monday to be back to where I was when I left for my trip so I can get back on track!

My ultimate goal is to be at 140, so I am hoping I won't get kicked out of the club when (and if) I leave the 140s. I wasn't sure if I would really ever see the 150s on my scale, but it happened. Just stay with it and give yourself time.

DJ (Debra)

Morning All :sunny:

LISA - WELCOME!! - You are joining one of the best groups ever!! We are in this together through thick and thin!! I am officially known as the world's slowest loser :rotfl: but I have been told slow and steady wins the race :rotfl2: Tell us alittle more about yourself. I am 49 years old with a DH, and 2 DD (20 and 17) You will hear alot about the 17 because she is a challenge :goodvibes Good kid just going through some rough times. I am a substitute teacher so off this summer but have a new puppy (my first one ever) which is keeping me from being bored.

DJ - You are my idol :cloud9: You have done so well for yourself!! NO ONE CAN EVER BE KICKED OUT OF THIS GROUP In a perfect world I would love to have us all meet someday at where else WDW :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Remember we are going to start a 150s retirement club.

Tara - My favorite ringmaster - I will always be grateful to you for starting this club!! :grouphug: We will ALL do this together!! Things stand at a truce with DD17 - no power struggles in the last weekend - thank goodness. Yes, she saw the boyfriend at a bbq and I am sure she is talking to him so we just have to keep saying our prayers and pushing too much. I would end up pushing her right into his arms. Bless you for all your kind words. :wizard:

Maria - My READING BUDDY!! I would glady give up tv to read a good book. I am not super picky with my reading. Will try anything as long as it gets my attention within the firt 100 - 150 pages. Just got done reading WICKED - which was very good once I got into it. Like to read fluff, suspense, mystery, books dealing with relationships and good old fashioned romance but not historical romance. What have you read lately?

Puppy is taking a quick puppy nap - thank goodness. He has his days and night mixed up. Any advice to get him back on track? DD17 and I are not happy about the 2am wakeups....... ;)

Will try to get a walking tape or treadmill in today. Too hot to be outside.......Chicago is smoldering :sunny:

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Welcome Lisa - This is a great place to get the encouragement you need and to share your accomplishments. I am a 29 year old account with a DH and 2 sons ages 4 and 2.

Maria- I hope you get to buy your book. Which Borders do you shop at?

I love to read, I will read anything I can get my hands on. I am lucky in that I work for the corp. office of Borders Books, so I get a good discount at the stores, and they also have a free book room, where you can find some good reading material. Needless to say my house is full of books.

Thank-you everyone for you concern about DS4, things seem a little better last night and today. The doctor would prefer not to use medicine if at all possible, since these tend to only last about 2 weeks. If things get worse or aren't better by next weekend we are to go back.

Wow! What great responses already! I knew this would be a great thread! :)

I am a 24-year-old teacher and recently finished my second year of teaching. About month ago I started a Masters program and am working towards becoming a reading specialist.

As for why I am here, I have some good habits and bad habits. (Don't we all?!) I weighed (unfortunately) about this much about four years ago in college. I went away to school, walked everywhere, and lost about 45 pounds! :) (Yet, I digress, as the weight has come back! :()

I am really excited about supporting each other here.

Here is a current picture of me. It was taken on the last day of school.

Lisa!! YOU ARE a BEAUTIFUL young lady!!! I can see how your students must shine when you come in the room! :) Get ready to throw out that T-shirt...it'll be way too big by the time you're finished with this club! :) Stay focused and if you have a weak moment...please come on in and let us cheer you through it! :)

Maria...I LOVE to read...my husband introduced me to Jeffrey Deaver stories...they're pretty good...but lately my reading time has been taken up to reading aloud to my children. We're back in full mode in our homeschooling after having been slowed down by the moving (finished my last room yesterday!!! YEAH!!! Totally UNPACKED!) But, I've found that there are sooo many great books that are really almost better read aloud to children...we're reading "Otto of the Silver Hand" by Howard Pyle (anything by him is wonderful) and can you believe I never read Peter Pan by JM Barrie? My kids just sat on the edge of their seat and waited for the next adventure...I need to keep a dictionary next to me when I read some of these "older" classics...their use of the English language is amazing! So, for right now I spend about 2 hours a day reading aloud and I just can't find the time to read to myself...any books out there that are some great mysteries??? Thanks!

Regina...sending lots of love to your ds...I hope it's not too painful for him. Your doctor is wise to be conservative...I hope it will all be over soon for you both!

I'm doing pretty well on my low carb..I just completed day 3 and I'm down to 183.2...that's 2.6 pounds gone in 3 days..YEAH!!! I feel good about sticking it out for 14 days....3/14 only 11 more to go! :) I missed my walk this morning because it was raining...so I may just have to do pilates this afternoon instead of my long walk...but I get my walk in tomorrow with my neighbor who speed walks like the wind..so pilates will probably be good for me today.

Let's kick it and lose these fat cells!

Tara

I saw this thread when it was first posted and thought "I should join the 150 club" but things got in the way (and the motivation really wasn't there).

My daughter and I are in Las Vegas right now for a visit with my parents and a convention for me. I've had some nice relaxing "me" time and happened to buy a wonderful, inspiring book that has helped me to believe "I can do this!!".

Here's a bit of background on me...I've always had a weight problem but lost quite a bit in 9th grade and was fairly thin all through high school. Then up and down through college and a rough first marriage. Lost 50 pounds through the divorce but the weight came right back on. Then lost 60 with Weight Watchers and kept it off for about 2 years. Then slowly but surely the scale started creeping upward. Lost 30 again about 4 years ago, but that's back on too.

The difference for me this time is that I KNOW I need to exercise (thanks to the inspiration in this book). I'm 43 years old now I weigh 204 (I'm barely 5' 3"). I have a wonderful husband who's a college professor and I'm a stay at home Mom with a miracle 9 year old (she weighed 1 pound and was 11 inches long at birth). I have a home business, homeschool and keep the books for a family business as well.

Do I need to do anything else in order to join the 150 club? I won't be able to weigh in for a couple of weeks since I'm away from home, but I'll be posting weight losses as soon as I get back. (It will be hard to lose while I'm in Vegas, but I'm determined not to gain!!).

Thanks for letting me join in!

BTW, the book is called "Running With Angels" by Pam Hansen. The book starts off with her beginning a grueling mountainous marathon in July 2004. Just 18 months prior to that she had weighed 100 pounds more. She was an emotional eater (SO like me) and lost her weight through exercise and Weight Watchers. When she started running she ran like 10 steps and had to stop because she was SO winded. Fantastic book!!

The book really made me think that if I set my goals right I could plan on running the WDW marathon in 2007. Running has never been a goal for me, but who knows? It could happen right?

Thanks for listening and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Suz

Morning All!! :sunny:

Well the scale moved ever so slightly .5!! :cool1: I will take it. Have 4 more to go to get where I was before DD17 erupted :rotfl: Right now I am at 167.5.

Working on moving my big old butt, drinking my liquids and watching what I eat. Hardest part is waiting for DD17 to come home at night - find myself looking for something to put in my mouth.....probably stress induced......Have to tell my self to STOP and pick up my knitting needles.

Tara - How old are you children again? Have you always homeschooled? Here I am a substitute teacher and yet would not be brave enough to homeschool. My hat is off to you lady :goodvibes

Lisa - We are here for YOU!! Together we will lose the weight - some of us faster than others ;) - BUT WE CAN DO IT!! So how is your day going?

Regina - keep us updated on DS.......sending good thoughts to you....

Another HOT :sunny: day in Chicago........we never really had spring - just jumped right into the 90 degree weather. Would like it much better if I was in WDW:):)

Which by the way we have given in to an insane moment and are GOING!! WOO HOO!! DD20 turns 21 while in Spain and all she wants is to get back to Disney.....So with alot of financial manuevering (including eating alot of bread and water :rotfl2: ) we are going to WDW right after Spain for a few days. Had free air, passports and got a GREAT deal on a studio at OKW. Never been to OKW.....anyone opinions on it.

And I thought this summer would be boring :rotfl2:

Have a magical Disney Day :earsboy:
Linda

Suz- Welcome to the group, use this board to share you successes and vent went things don't go as planned.

Tara- The doctor assured us that they are not painful, just bothersome, and DS is not complaining of any discomfort.

Things are going well here, the bladder spasams seem to be getting better, but I think he has formed some bad habits that we will have to work to break. He has gotten in the habit getting up multiple times once I get him in bed. Since I can't really get after him for going to the bathroom, he thinks it is ok to wander around after he leaves the bathroom. I am working on get up go the the bathroom and straight back to bed, this works better if he doesn't see me when he gets up.

My SIL is due back today from a 2 week vacation in Orlando, mostly spent at Disney. She did some shopping for us to pick up suprises for the boys for our trip in Dec. She is the boys favorite aunt so they are excited today.

While things are busy, I have been doing farily well with eating and exercising.

Regina

I hope you will let me come back after my long absence. Our second computer has been on the fritz but my DH has it back working again so I can talk to the gang.

I have been maintaining pretty good. I'm currently at 161 today. I had a bump back to 168 about a month ago and it scared me to death. For you that don't know me I started my weight loss on July 1, 2004 at 208. I really wanted to be at 155 by my weight loss anniversary but I don't think that will happen. But I'm going to be OK with that because I'm feeling so good.

My kids started summer camp a few weeks ago and part of the fees that I pay I'm able to use the excersice gym and pool. I did pay for a trainer to start me on a program of firmming all these new found muscels that I have. I really haven't loss much but I'm seeing parts of me that I haven't seen in years. :cool1:

We leave for our next Disney trip in 77 days and I'm hoping to be well into the 150's by the time I go. I'm so glad to read that everyone is doing so well.

Keep up the good work!
Tracy

WOW!!! I'm soo excited to see new faces and 4togo!!! I'm really going to make a good effort to pull some 150'ers back into the fold...we all have ups and downs and we need to let everyone know that they can make 150!!! I have to remind myself DAILY!! :)

WELCOME SUZD!!!! Wow a little bitty baby!!! That truly is a miracle!!! I've had similar experiences with my weight and I know how hard it is to lose it all and gain it...but I can tell by your determination that YOU WILL DO IT this time and for good! :) That book sounds wonderful!!! Sounds like one I need to pick up and read NOW!!! :) I'll update the front page with the newbies and figure out how many pounds we all need to lose for ALL of us to get to the 150's!! And each month we'll just knock off of that number! :) I homeschool, too, SUZD, and Linda it's not hard at all....I think the hardest part is deciding to...I love the freedom we have to stop and explore a subject if it really hits a curiosity nerve..and not feeling like we have to leave it after one week...we've been in the 1850's-1870's for about 3 months now! :) Huntsville has some fun historical villages and homes to view and we read lots of fictional history from that time period. Oh, homeschooling is one of those topics that once I get started I blah blahblah...so on to losing!!!

4togo!!! AAAGH AAAAGH AAAGH!!! WHAT??????$#&^$(&^(# You are only 2 pounds away from 150's?????? :cloud9: I think I would just be giddy with myself! :) You have done GREAT!!!! I can't wait to see you jump in with Tera and tell us what the 150's feel like! :)

Regina...what a great aunt!!! I bet the boys willl LOVE having her there today. I love having family visit...it really makes my heart feel so full! I laugh sometimes at my children and their habits...it's so easy for them to develop new ones. My kids are 10, 7 & 6 and each one seems to be trying to master a new habit every 2-3 months...we joke around the house that my 10 year old is the "Sigher"...he sighs whenever you tell him to clean his room...my 7 year old is the "sulker"....she sulks if she feels slighted...and my 6 year old is the "demander"...she demands lunch, breakfast, dinner, shoes etc. So we tell them they have to work on breaking that habit and we all joke when we hear them doing it...they even laugh at themselves...but as soon as we have a bad habit beat...they magically discover another one! :) But we make light of it all while trying to show them the importance of not hanging on to those habits that are trying! :)

I had leftover steak for lunch and a salad...this low carb thing has finally beaten my sugar/junk food cravings....it usually takes about 3 days...I've had a chocolate pound cake on my counter for a day now and just one fingertip of frosting has passed my lips...I only tried it because it was a new recipe and wanted to make sure I wasn't poisoning my guests....it was yummy but not worth licking the whole spoon to offset my losses! :)

Let's get losing gang!!!
Tara

Happy Sunday afternoon!

Forgive me as I try to remember everyone's name and appropriate comments. It's week two for me, so I'm still learning.

Welcome to Lisa and Suz D! As I said this is my second week, but you will find everyone here wonderfully supportive. I find this thread much more motivating than a WW meeting.

Tara - I'm so impressed that you homeschool! And reading out loud 2 hours a day?! What a great Mom!

Regina - I hope your son is improving every day. I shop at the Borders in Downtown Crossing in Boston, I believe the street address is Washington Street.

I'm reading a historical romance (don't throw stones!) right now, "McKettrick's Choice" by Linda Lael Miller. I'm a fan of her work. I also recently read "The Serpent on the Crown" by Elizabeth Peters. She writes a mystery series at the turn of the century (the 19th-20th century) set in Egypt and Great Britain. Lots of fun and fantastic detail. I am eagerly awaiting the new books by Janet Evanovich and Anne Rice. I also love food mysteries, by Joanna Fluke and Joanne Carl (yum, chocolate!). And Laura Childs writes mysteries centered around a tea shop in one of the Carolinas. One of my quirky new favorites is MaryJanice Davidson. Her books are about unsuspecting people who 1) become vampires or 2) wake up bionic when they should be dead. I'm also looking forward to "S is for Silence". I just read new mysteries from Katharine Hall Page and G.A. McKevett. Sorry to ramble, I think we've stumbled onto my actual passion!

I did great with all my plans for yesterday. I was "worked out" and off the treadmill by 8 a.m. I did well with my eating, and made a grocery list and meal plan for this week. I did the shopping this morning (Great sale, $1.69/lb for cherries!), and my home is full of healthy, low fat options.

Like Chicago, we did not have Spring in Boston. It went from 50 to 90 over three days. This many 90+ degree days is very unusual for us in June/July. This is going to be a hot summer! Good thing the heat makes me lethargic and stunts my appetite...

I just bought Stitch luggage for my ds for our trip at the end of August. I also picked up $1 ponchos at Target. As I start to get ready, it becomes even more real and I am determined I am going to be smaller before we go. If I can just lose 10 lbs., everything I own will fit very well, even loosely...but, if I can just have a 1 lb. loss at this week's weigh in on Tuesday, I will be so happy! I will consider that great for 4 days into my *new* commitment!

Welcome Suz D and Lisa. You have come to the right place for support on your weight loss journey.

Went out for a walk this evening. Waited until 7 PM and walked 60 min. It was still above 80 when I got home. Walked slower than usual. Only accomplished 20 min miles. Have to find somewhere better to walk the the roads around home. The roads are canted (for water run off) and my ankles and shins hurt by the time I get home. It doesn't help much that I have very tight achiles and my ankles have very little flex in them.

Linda - we stayed in a studio at OKW during our last trip May 29 - June 5. It was very comfortable for the 4 of us. The refrig isn't very large and there aren't complete cooking facilities but we still managed to eat breakfast there every day but one and even ate a snack supper there one evening after having a late lunch. The studios have a toaster, refrig, microwave, and coffee maker. The room had 2 queen size beds with the girls sharing one and my mother and myself sharing the other. It is the first time dd2 has shared a bed with anyone on any of our trips. She usually sleeps on the floor.

Worfiedoodles - I am also a avid reader when I can find the time. I usually read romance since they take no concentration. I am currently reading Tim Green's - The Fifth Angel. He started out writhing football themed novel (former NFL football player) and switched to legal thrillers (currently a lawyer in Syracuse). I have also read most of Patricia Cornwell and John Grisham. Leonard Golberg writes very good medical mysteries which I have read also.

Have a good evening and a losing monday

Hi, everyone!

Today was a pretty good day!

I weighed in this morning (my usual day) and lost 1.5 lbs. this week! I was super psyched!

I ate very well all day today except for dinner. It didn't help that the food took quite a bit longer than I expected so by the time I ate, I was starving...so, unfortunately, I overindulged! :(

With that being said, though, I did make time to do 45 min. on the elliptical machine today.

Let's keep losing! :)

HI All,

I'm Tracy, a SAHM to 6. In reading the boards I always noticed peoples sig lines talking about lost pounds and the like. Well I'm wondering if I could join the group as I too would like to get into the 150's. I'd like to go down further, but 150 is more doable that 125. I had lost a lot of weight previously but than found myself adding another Disney Fan to my family(at least 4 more times after the significant weight loss). So after 6 and the surburban being full, we have decided to let someone else make more princes and princesses. I'm currently at 198. Last week I started getting up at 4:30 am so that I can walk. I walked 2.5 miles 4 out of 7 days. I also am trying to watch what I eat, although it gets hard when my 10 YO is making chocolate chip cookies in front me. I'm really making an effort to remember to drink all my water, but that too seems to fall by the waste side. I think I'm going to put a chart on the fridge tomorrow so that I can cross off everytime I refill the glass. I also am trying to eat every 3 hours to kick my metabolism into gear. At this point I think it is in reverse.

We are DVC'rs and have our next trip home planned for Jan 29th 06. I sure would like to be in the 150's by than. Our last trip home was in Dec, and I forgot to pack my bathing suit. I had a 4 month old at the time, but I wonder if I also did it self consoiusly(sp) I probably would have emptied the pool area with that sight.

Anyway. I look foward to many posts and encouraging my fellow dieters'

Thanks

Tracy ::MinnieMo

Wow!! Can you guys just feel the good 150'ers vibes???? With all these great folks aiming for the same goal...there's nothing to stop us!!!

Tracy!!! WOW!! Your story sounds so much like alot of us! But, LOOK AT YOU!!! Look at what you know...the walking at 4:30....the getting your water in....the watching what you eat..do you know what that means??? YOu're going to be a 150'er!!!! We're just here to cheer you on and help you over the humps that we all face from time to time. Six children...wooowee!! I often think if I just followed my children around and did what they did all day I'd be fit and trim..just imagine following 6 of those monkeys around all day! :) Keep up the 4:30 walks..I guarantee you in 3 months 20 of those pounds will be gone! I'm a 5:30 walker..and walk for 1 hour 15 minutes...I do it 4 days a week and I can really tell my metabolism jumping up..stick with it!! On the food side, I find by cutting things out like white breads/french fries/sugar that the weight will come off because I'm left with good foods to eat! :)
So, WELCOME and we are soo glad you're here!!!

lajones81!!!!! 1.5 pounds  :teeth: Yeah!!!! That is a GREAT loss!!! Just imagine 10 weeks of that loss and you'll be done 15 pounds!!! :) Each little pound adds up big fit and healthy days! Stay strong this week and feel all of us cheering you on! :cheer2:

Stress trying to creep in on me...but won't let it hinder my efforts at a new start at losing...nope, not gonna let it. Focusing on strong thoughts and exercise this week....early walk in the am will help me get started! :)
