Hey gang...

Just a quick jump in here for snack ideas....

1. anything pre-sealed/measured for portion control...I like mozzarella sticks
2. I like a few pepperoni slices
3. A small....small...handful of cashews or pistachios (pistachios with the shells on because it takes longer to get them out and I tend to eat less of these)
4. An apple slice or two...I split it with the kids and I'm lucky to get 1 or 2 :)
5. a dill pickle
6. deviled eggs...love these! just mayo/vinegar/mustard powder/salt pepper
7. any small fruit/grapes/plums/peaches...summer is great for these
8. if I'm going to have a cheat during the day I opt for a small bag of chips (cheetos usually) or a nutter bar or homemade chocolate chips...when I'm doing well, I try to limit these to once every 4-5 days.
9. semi-sweet chocolate chips...a small handful around TOM usually does the trick without all the sugar.
10. summer sausage with cheese and a wheat cracker...yum!

There, that seems to be what I snack on the most during "really good losing" zones...I don't even want to mention what I snack on during those not so good losing zones which really equal no losing zone! :)

Keep those snack ideas coming!!!
Tara

P.s. Lisa.... :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Yeah my smilies are working again! Dh had flipped off html or something...you can do this...allow yourself a day now and then and don't sweat it...just start up looking in the mirror and saying to yourself five times..."MAN!!! You are one BEAUUUUTIFUL lady...you're going to be in the 150's when year 25 rolls around!!!"

We sometimes just have to remind ourselves! :)

Evening All!!

Been catching up on the days news!!

WOO HOO!! To all the movers and shakers on the board!! :cool1:

Good news of the day!! DD17 went to the doctor today and showed a weigh gain of 2 pounds :goodvibes :goodvibes Doctor said she is finally on the right track but not out of the woods yet and wants to see her again in 2 weeks. Thanks for all the :wizard: Keep it coming.

Now if only I could lose her two pounds :rotfl: I know I know it is all in my head. Every morning I start with good intentions and then the exercise falls to the wayside. BUT puppy now has a "playpen" that I can put him in while I am walking on the TM (I get the early morning shift with him). So tomorrow there is no excuse to walk on the TM or put a video in :cheer2: :cheer2:

DD20 is leaving for Spain on Friday for 6 weeks.........She is in packing panic mode!! Keep telling her not to worry about anything except what she cannot easily replace in Spain (like contacts, glasses, ID etc). She is so excited but nervous.....me I will be a basket case until she calls me from there.

Favorite snack would be an apple but it has to be crunchy and tart. Or olives because they have a weird aftertaste that kills my cravings but I have to watch the salt intake. I also like nuts......

DJ - You say you are a vegetarian - how interesting. Does the rest of your family follow your eating patterns? How do you get your protein?

Lisa - Thursday is a GREAT day to focus on exercise and what you eat....Come join me and we will encourage each other :Pinkbounc

Schatz - Rain - what is that? Chicago is in a drought!!!! :sunny: :sunny: Last year we only had 3 days of 90 degrees all summer - this year we have had 6 since June 21 YIKES!!! :faint:

Maria - What book did you end up getting?

DD17 should be home in about 3 mintues then it is off to bed for this old body.

Everyone have a Happy Thursday!! Move that body and drink that water!! :cheer2:

And of course a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

My official weigh in this morning was 179.6....YEAH!!! I'm officially in the 170's for good and only 19.8 pounds away from seeing that 15x number!!!! So, officially, I'm going to be on a countdown from 19.8 pounds....I have one more week of low carb then I'll gradually add in some berries and wheat bread and then just stick to healthy choices but trying to increase my walking to no less than 16 miles a week.

Got a Latin class coming over this morning and my school room is a mess...gotta run and put everything in order...will check in later!!!

MAKE Thursday a LOSING day today!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Tara

Ok so last night was bad! Dh and I had a fight, so I took his ice cream and just kept eating. We made up later and went out for dinner. I had half a cheesburger and some steak fries....then more ice cream later :guilty: I didn't even excericise! UGHH!

Morning All!! :sunny:

Puppy decided he had the need to go at 2:30am and then cry for 45 minutes when I put him back in his crate (we call it his bed) :sad2: That was after DD17 took him out to do his business at 1:30am.........YIKES someone left the water bowl out too late and isn't admitting it. Puppy fell asleep about 3:15 and then slept until 8:00am....... :faint:

Agotta - STOP!! NO more dwelling on what happened last night. It is over and done!! You are going to have a FANTASTIC day!! :bounce: :bounce: What you ate last night will come off!! and out :rotfl2: Let us know about the moving and losing day you had.

Tara - WOO HOO!! What a GREAT job!! I am eagerly awaiting your arrival into the 160s and if I am still there then we will do it together - if not you will have to catch me :cheer2: :cheer2:

Everyone have a ENERGIZED (like the bunny :rotfl: ) DAY!!

And of course a Magical Disney Day!!
:earsboy:

Good morning!

I went last night and picked up my book, "The Historian". It's set in 3 different time periods, and has some vampires and some mystery. I'm actually going to save it for a little while, I just got the new Janet Evanovich in at the library, so I'm going to read that and my other requested books first. I was so happy to get my book! And those clever people at Borders (a wink to Regina), I also received a 25% off coupon on a dvd or cd next week. So, I have my next reward ready to go!

Last night was not pretty, but could have been so much worse. With in-laws for just one night (they stayed over before catching a 6 a.m. flight to Alaska), we had pizza for dinner. I had three slices, and then my Lindt ball before bed. I believe I just went over my points by not too much, but I also didn't get any exercise. My home scale showed a gain of .5 over yesterday, so I can live with that. I'm hoping to go down a pound by tomorrow, but that may be pressing my luck. In any case, I think I can recover enough by Wednesday (my new weigh in day, since WW cancelled the Tuesday meeting I was attending) to show a loss of some kind.

Today I'm going to be back on track. I work shorter days on Thursdays and Fridays. During the school year this allows me to serve as a chauffeur...since my ds is at summer day camp and they don't want them picked up before 4, I get plenty of time to work out, totally guilt free. Today is my first chance. I'm actually excited. I also get to eat lunch at home (I have a little snack and put it off until after my workout), so no excuse for not eating well.

I'm probably going to be stuck with takeout choices again tonight, but I'm determined to either have soup at home, or Subway. I have to get back on track today, because otherwise it's a slippery slope...

My "good" snacks - I like to have a 1 oz. box of raisins, a Babybel cheese, or a bag of 100 cal. popcorn. I try to have fresh fruit, first, but sometimes I know that is just not going to work. When I really feel the need for chocolate, I will sneak in an extra Lindt ball. For some reason, if I eat dark chocolate I am very satisfied.

Tracy - Good job with the walking! It's great that you are trying to gradually add more.

Lisa - I'm restarting today, too! It's o.k. to just jump in where you are and go from there, we are not behind!

DJ - you had great snack ideas. I admire you for being a vegetarian.

Tara - you also had some terrific snacks. We are in the 170s and going down!

Linda - I also always have great intentions and motivation in the morning, too. My brand new idea (I'm not even sure how well it will work yet), is to set my computer so that instead of giving me "meeting reminders", I insert weight loss encouragement to keep me going throughout the day. I just put them in my calendar at various times throughout the day, and then I will get a little chime and a reminder notice. I'm hoping that will help.

Agotta - I eat when I'm upset, too. Try not to get too down on yourself. Be gentle with you. Every day, every meal, every snack can be a new beginning. We all have bad days. Let it go, and keep going with your determination to do well. You should pamper yourself, too. Take a minute to just do something for you.

That's all I have this morning. I'll check in later and see how we're all doing!

Happy Thursday! Hey, we're over the hump!

Hi All!

Finally stopped raining here. Hope the kids can go to the pool today (and give me some peace and quiet). :flower:

Linda--Yes, my DH and kids are vegetarians too. I have told the kids they can eat meat if they want to, but so far they don't seem to want to. DH decided to be a vegetarian in college, so it worked good when we got together. Actually he and I have known each other since we were 6 years old (actually, we recently found out we were in Head Start together at 4 years old, but we don't remember each other from that). He sat behind me in 1st grade, and we were good friends all through school. In college our 'friendship' turned a different path and that is how we ended up husband and wife.

Tara--Congrats!!!!! Isn't it great to get into a new '10s'! It doesn't seem all that long ago when I got into the 170s and here I am in the 150s. Just stick with it and it will come. I will be FLOORED when (and if) I get to see the 140s. I haven't seen that since the year my Dad died and all of this weight started coming on. That was in 1996.

agotta--Don't worry, each day is a new day, and you can make today any way you want to! We all have rough days on our journey to weight lose, and not all of our days go the way we want. Onward and downward!!! (as Tara would say :goodvibes ).

Linda--We don't have a dog, but we have a cat who like to 'talk' to us in the middle of the night. DD always responds to her and I try to tell her that this will only encourage the cat to keep doing it, but DD is a softie and can't ignore our furry family member.

Maria--Take out is tough isn't it, but subway isn't too bad. We love it there and always get the veggie sub. My problem is that I love mayo, but I know mustard is the best choice. Aren't those 100 calories bags of popcorn great! No need to measure (or share), just put it in the microwave and you have a great low calorie snack.

I am hoping to get some mowing in today. I can't tell if the rain might return or not. Hope everyone has a great day!!!!

Debra

Tara

Thanks Tara!

It does feel good. I am wearing a size 12 now and I started out in January at a size 20. I do want to get to 145 (with clothes), so I am not sure if I will go down to a size 10, but I just can't imagine that will happen. I am happy with a 12, but I do want my weight in the 140s eventually.

I am 5'8" tall, so I think 145 will be a good weight for me. Not skinny (which I haven't been since I was a kid), but comfortable.

I was surprised how easy the vacation weight came off, but I guess putting on 4 pounds in 5 days would mostly be water weight. I know I didn't eat 12,800 more calories (doesn't 3200 calories equal a pound? I know it is 3000 something).

I am actually BELOW where I was when I left on vacation. I won't have an official weigh in until sometime in late July at Weight Watchers since I am now at my WW goal and go as a Lifetimer weighing in just once monthly. So I am just going by my scales in my bedroom.

Anyway, thanks again for all the support. This is a great group! I really helps to have an outlet for support on a daily basis.

Debra

WHEW! I am finally caught up again. So far the weight is the same, but TOM is here and I haven't gained. :goodvibes I am hoping to lose a few as he leaves.

So, I guess July will be the month when I enter back into the 100's. It will feel so great to be out of the 200's and I will not be too embarassed to say my real weight anymore. :cool1:

Everyone has been doing so great! For those who are new, I do have a journal that I record in daily that you can check out, but I am warning you, I love to write. It has really helped me take the lbs. off. I record what I eat, how I feel, frustrations, elations, goals, etc. Being accountable sure does make a huge difference in terms of success.

Linda - Hope you are having fun with that new puppy and congrats on the 2 lbs. gone forever. :cool1: Glad to hear that your DD17 is getting turned around, that must be a great reliever of stress. Hope your other DD has fun in Spain.

Tara - I knew you could get back on track! Way to go! :cheer2:

Debra - Isn't it so nice to be so close to your ultimate goal? I can't wait to get there. Hopefully, by the end of the year. :flower:

Agotta - On the WISH board, the past is the past. Go ahead and vent the frustrations and then remember that the bad food choice you made is over with and move on. Getting back on track every day is the biggest difference between successful and failure. :cheer2:

Worfie - Yes, the latest plan was to take my two older Girl Scouts to New York, as a final trip since they have quite a bit of $ to spend, but looks like that will change. I think we are just going to do some smaller trips to Chicago and locally, since one is preparing for college and the other is extremely busy this summer. Will have to see what the other mom says. I too am a Lifer, but have only been a member for 11 years. My DD17 has been in for 13 years (since Kindergarten) and is becoming a Lifer next month. My DD15 has been in for 10 years and DD7 has been in for 2. I love being a leader. As far as books, I love to read Dean Koontz and Robin Cook. It would be great if I had more time to read. ;)

Everyone keep up the good work. I know I have missed some of you, but now that I am back, I won't miss you next time.

Keep moving and losing! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Good evening, everyone!

It sounds like our group is making great strides! Yes! :)

Today was a very good day for me today. The only problem I found was late in the afternoon and I started getting the usual munchies and, also, after dinner. I think I am used to eating all the time that I wasn’t used to having my stomach growl! I ate OP and even made time for a 45 min. walk. My mom was going to go to Wisconsin to take my grandma to the doctor, but the doctor was sick. So, I quickly asked my mom before she had time to think if she wanted to go walking this morning. She answered yes and we had a great time! :) Working out is so much more fun with someone else!

I’ve updated my journal here: Look for: 06/30/05 Post #6

Debra - Thanks for sharing those snacks. I love peanut butter and apples or celery. I know that peanut butter can be a trigger food for many people (myself included at times), but I really enjoy it as a snack. I don’t eat any red meat - it doesn’t make me feel good. I stay away from pork products, too, but eat fish, chicken, and turkey. I love vegetarian dishes, though…I’m really not a huge meat lover.

Tara - Thanks for the snack ideas, as well! I love getting ideas from other people. Thank you for your encouraging words! :) It means a lot to me and, yes, today I did tell myself that I look beautiful! ;) Way to push the 180s aside! I love that you are in the 170s! Amazing! :)

Linda - Thank you for your encouraging words, as well! How did you day go? As you may have read above…I had a fabulous day! I’m planning on having another one tomorrow, too! :) Congrats on your two pounds lost! Wonderful! Sounds like your family is very busy lately! I had a friend study abroad in Spain a number of years ago. She loved it! :)

agotta - It happens to us all! It has been eaten and digested so now you need to kick it into high gear! Go, go, go, girl! You can do it! :)

Maria - How did your restart day go? Oh, what am I saying…I know it went well! Tell me all about it! :) I hear ya on the slippery slope. Sometimes one piece of cake just does me in so I try to avoid it when possible (but that doesn’t always happen!). I love Subway! I always enjoyed it and, then, went I went to college, we had one in every dorm! It was awesome! I’m not kidding when I say I would eat there at least 5 times a week…breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack…I loved it all! I always tried the different sandwiches, too! Yum!

Lesli - Just saying hello! :)

Let’s keep losing! :)

Lisa

I think I've only poked my nose in here once to post since getting back from Vegas Vacation. I've been lurking a lot and keeping up with everyone's news.

I had my monthly "official" weigh-in this morning and saw 203 looking back at me. Not as good as I had hoped for a month, but I'll take the 3 pounds gratefully. By my end of July weigh-in, I expect to be well into ONEderland and enjoying the scenery.

Worked way too many hours this month (about 220 total, and I was on vacation for 3 days, ouch), and the weather was denying me my bicycle. This month looks to be lots, lots better. I'm hoping to get to 195 by the end of July. I can do 2 pounds a week now that I can buckle down again. Weather is supposed to be cooperating and I'll be able to leave in time for my Curves workouts on a regular basis again.

Here comes July and I'm ready to take it on!! :dancer:

Girls, you are amazing! I can't thank you enough for the support. I have moved on and not only that but....lost 6.5 pounds already!! WHOHOO!!! :cool1: Now I get a clippie too!! (Dh put his on 2 days ago!)

Thanks for all the great snack ideas, I love to snack but have been pretty good about staying away from the cookies and ice cream.

Lacerta-Way to go!! Can't wait to see you ine ONEDERLAND!!

Lesli54-I know how you feel!! I think that is why I wasn't losing at the beginning of the week.

westjones- I am so impressed that you have dropped from a 20 to a 12!!
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Way to go!!!

That is all from me. I will be around today, but tomorrow we head to the in-laws (insert scary music here). BYE!:moped:

Linda!! Admit it, you're going to turn on the losing power to try and make us chase you down to the 150's aren't you???? Well, I just have to say, YOU'RE ON , BABY!!! :) I'm sooo Happy for you that those scales moved...it's about time they pay attention to you and all your hard work!

Debra!! You're my goal gauge! :) I'm 5'7 and 3/4 of an inch..so I just say I'm 5'8 half the time...rounding up ya know! :) And I remember being able to wear 10's in the 140's and when I was 135 I wore 6's...so those last 10 or so pounds really make a difference in clothing size for me..I'm all hips and thighs so my pant size is the last to shrink it seems. But I have some 10's in the closet I'm really hoping to wear by October and hopefully by then I'll be in the low 150's. So keep us updated and send some pictures!!!! What a beautiful and healthy change to go from 20's to 10's in 6 months! :) Keep it up!!

Lesli! I always consider a maintain during/before TOM to actually be a loss yet realized...cause that's atleast 1-3 pounds of fluid added on..so feel GREAT about a TOM maintain week! :)

Lisa!! Isn't it GREAT walking with someone!! I know that's going to be key in my losing over the next few months...my neighbor is a machine! I know I slowed her down a bit today...okay it took us 1 hour 12 minutes instead of 1 hour 10 minutes to do 4.3 miles...I NEEDED those extra 2 minutes...I'm SACKED! So keep your mom on speed dial and add in some walks and those pounds can't hang on! Keep journaling, too...that really helps me!

Lacerta!! You're on the CUSP of Onederland!!! YAHOO!!! Okay I'll try and save my excitement for next month but it'll be tough! :) Stay strong and enjoy those extra days off with some good activity! :)

Guys...I almost CRACKED!!! I was having such a bad low sugar spell yesterday and my cravings for carbs came back STRONG!!! Lucky for me, the chocolate chip cookies were gone...I had told myself if one was left then I was eating it...thank goodness someone had sneaked the last one! Then this morning, the kids had waffles and there were only 2 left in the box whcih meant they can't all have waffles the next am...2 just for me...with hot butter/syrup...hmmm..dare I? Well, I was sooo sweaty from my walk and I was parched so after downing 2 full glasses of ice water I took a hot bath and stepped on the scales...180.6...WHAT??? A whole pound in one day? I did have hot wings for dinner and I know the spice holds some but come on??? And I did just down about 24 ounces of water...I'm hoping 16 ounces of water equals a pound of weight...all the thoughts that go through your head...well, needless to say, that was the shock to make me finish out my 14 days of low carb...this is day 9 so I've only got 5 more days to go...I can stick it out. But, if those scales had showed 178..you know I would have had those waffles! :earboy2:

On to new weights gang!!!
Tara

Good morning, Everyone! :sunny:

Guess what?! Another 1lb down, which puts me at 201! I AM ONLY 1.5LBS FROM ONEDERLAND! :cool1: :cool1: It will happen this weekend, I just know it. I saw flickers of 197 & 198 on the scale. I haven't seen those numbers in so long and now the scale has become my friend. I love being a loser (in terms of weight that is). :goodvibes

I feel good, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, na

You guys are wonderful supporters, which has made all the difference in my success this time and my non-success on previous occasions. :grouphug:

Lisa - Are you in Chicago proper or in the north suburbs? Where does your grandma live at in WI? Too many questions? My mom and aunt live in Pleasant Prarie, just below Kenosha. I am about 2 - 2 1/2 hrs west of Chicago, living not far from the Mississippi. It does feel good to exercise with someone, but if for some reason, you don't have a workout buddy one day, DON'T LET IT STOP YOU! Been there twice. If I had kept going two years ago after losing my buddy the first time, I would already be in the 150's and maybe under. In the meantime, enjoy the walks with your mom.

Lacerta - How was Vegas? Isn't it amazing how hard it is to get caught up after trips? I am still working on my trip reports for WDW. What do you say about you and I stepping into ONEDERLAND together? We should have a party. What does one wear to such an event? :scratchin

Everyone keep up the great work! Remember to keep drinking that water and have a GREAT day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Oh Tara, I never weigh after exercising. It's just never good. Don't worry, it will go away. Remember, if you are going to weigh every day, you can't get too obsessive with it, just use it as a tool and a guide.

Keep up the good work. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Happy Friday!

I had to check in and see how we're doing. I'm still hangin' in there. Yesterday went pretty well. I was supposed to eat out at Applebees at lunch w/a co-worker, but we couldn't go. So, once again I stopped at Subway. I had a low points deli sandwich - no chips! That's a big deal for me. I also kept my dinner in my points range, with two light hot dogs surrounded by a can of vegetarian baked beans. I finished off my evening with my Lindt ball, one point less than my allowance for the day. I also walked for 80 minutes on the treadmill, but a bit slower than usual. I was pretty disappointed when I got up this morning and weighed the same as yesterday. I know I can't lose every day, but I just love to see the numbers go down!

Today I had a banana for breakfast, and I'm having 3-cheese mushroom tortellini soup for lunch. It sounds bad, but it's only 4 points for the entire can! Tonight is where me vs. the takeout begins. I'm planning on baked shrimp w/rice pilaf and one roll for dinner, and hopefully I'll do well from there.

I also really just don't feel like working out, but I know I have to. I would really like to take a nap...I know, I'll see how the first 15 minutes goes. After that, I always feel like staying on. Just coming here has made me feel more like doing what I need to do to achieve my goals.

Agotta - glad to hear your feeling better, and you're having a fabulous weight loss! Congratulations!

Lesli - it sounds like you're doing great! It really helps me to have smaller goals to shoot for. I know you are going to do very well this month.

Lisa - you are so lucky you had something decent available in college! All we had was the high fat, low quality cafeteria in our dorms...Getting going again just seems difficult. I'm doing it, but it really is a case of acting like I want to be.

Lacerta - July is your month, I can feel it! After your vacation and all that work, I bet it will feel good to be good to you.

Tara - it's so hard with the kid's food around, isn't it?! My son has 3 homemade chocolate chip cookies sitting on our counter right now. It would be so easy to eat every last one of them...but your example is giving me strengh! Still, I might have to put those in the pantry!

Anyway, let's keep plugging along. I have a feeling this holiday weekend could be hard, but I'll do it if you all will!

I'm with you! I've been a lurker too. My DH and I are going to buckle down come Tuesday. We have a Disney trip planned for September, and need to lose before we go on that dining plan! (I know every day is a new day, and that I should start today, but we have way too many family commitments this weekend to start now! I may as well start with my beginning weight after all those parties.) It would be too devastating come next week to see the scale go UP! So, hopefully we will be joining you all next week. We are planning on the South Beach diet. We used it last summer to the tune of 20 pounds each in a month, but it came right back on. We both have forty something to lose this time, so we will have to stay on a "bit" longer ;) . Thank you all for participating in this on-line exchange. I think all of you will be so helpful! Now the real challenge, trying to keep up with this board and all of your names! :goodvibes

That is the hard part, isn't it?! I wish! Welcome Patsfan! As you might be able to guess from my location in Boston, we love our Patriots, as well!

I do think this weekend will be hard. Waiting to start is probably a great idea.

See ya next week! :flower:
