150 Club...care to join???

Every Sunday I try to think of what I'm grateful for. This week, it is definitely the 150s Club!

Honestly, when it would have been easier to just give up and say I'm never going to be able to put this all together, I got the encouragement I needed to go on. My home scale is still going down so far this weekend (fingers crossed), so even my lackluster efforts are helping.

After my treadmill workout, I did well with breakfast (cheerios & milk) and lunch yesterday (my dh's leftover baked haddock), and had green grapes for a snack. Then my best friend called and wanted to go out. I knew this would be a chance to eat way too much, so I didn't have dinner at home.

We went to the movies (if you have not seen "Bewitched", don't, trust me). The theater can be a scary food place for me. But, I confined myself to pretzel nuggets without the fake cheese sauce and a diet soda, plus a few handfuls of her popcorn. I didn't feel too bad about that, and I was hungry when I got home. I grabbed two fig newton bars (1 package) and my daily Lindt ball. When I woke up this morning I had a .5 loss on the home scale, so I'm happy with that. I try not to get too excited about the home scale losses, because when I go to WW, sometimes it's just totally different.

I think I may take today off from the treadmill (I've done 3 days in a row), or at least that's my thinking this morning. I have some household stuff I'd like to accomplish, and I think I could use a little mental break from exercise. But I will be eating properly, I promise!

Jen -- You're barbecue sounds fantastic! I will bring marinated, grilled asparagus and s'mores! Seriously, kudos to you for trying to hold a healthy party. You're my kind of hostess!

Lesli -- I think a Onederland Party is a fabulous idea! I'll bring the goody bags, full of encouragement and group hugs!

Debra -- Why do we marry these men with better metabolism, etc., than we have?! My dh was 140 soaking wet when we got married. We probably weigh about the same now, but he needs to lose 15 lbs. When he starts running, it just comes right off. It's downright depressing to watch. But, I do definitely want to weigh less than he does, when he's fit!

Agotta -- you are doing great! 6.5 lbs. is really something to shout about!!

Tara -- I am also a huge fan of the tankini. My body is two distinct sizes, and the top is much smaller. Figures. Buying two separate pieces allows me to get a suit I feel comfortable in all over.

Tracy -- Lesli gave great advice. It really is getting back on, and just taking babysteps to make better choices, that makes a difference. Every time I do one little thing, I feel so much better.

Tera -- So, what is your favorite thing to wear as a size 8 that you would not have gone near before? Did you get rid of all your larger clothes? Did you wake up one day and nothing fit, or was it gradual for you?

Sue -- When I really want something, if I don't eat it I find myself eating 10 of them later in the day. I think it is better to just satisfy the craving you have, and move on.

Lacerta -- You are so good to get out and have fresh air with your exercise!

Kathy -- You are my walking idol! I am so impressed that you had another walk after dinner! You go girl!

Lisa -- Great idea checking out the food online before you get to the grocery store. What a great way to know what you really want!

Sorry, I accidentally posted too soon. If I missed someone, I'll catch you next time!

Now on to a happy, holiday tomorrow!

Good morning all! :sunny:

The scale is up .5lbs, but that is because dinner was late last night and I indulged in popcorn late, so I am not worried about it. Things started out good yesterday, but just fell apart in the afternoon. I started getting bored and Saturday's are always long since the family works later. Somehow, I still haven't gotten around spreading out my meals on Saturday. Anyway, I ate a brat for lunch, something I haven't had in awhile and I thought that it would be fine since the rest of my day was going to be good. Not. I wouldn't even say that I got the munchies, I just fell into old habits and ate out of boredom. That hasn't happened for awhile. So I had a handful of chips, 1 Tbsp PB, some vanilla wafers. Then DH wanted to go out for dinner and unfortunately, the waitress took over 10 minutes to get to our table so we left. He stopped at McD's for the kids and I just waited til we got home. By then it was after 8:15pm and I ate a Lean Cuisine, then followed that with 3/4 a bag of popcorn. :sad2: I am not feeling guilty, it's a learning lesson, but I am still trying to figure out why I went for a "junk" day. None of it felt good, none of it was what I really wanted, but I couldn't figure out what I wanted. The good news is that it was much better than the "before" days and I was still within my calorie range. Guess I will see ONEDERLAND a little later. :rolleyes1

TigerCheer - I bet those pants look great on you! Isn't it good to have clothes that fit? :cool1:

Kathy - That is a lot of walking in one day. Keep it up and you will surely get to your goal. :cheer2:

Maria - Great job at the movies! Next time you go weigh at WW, make sure you weigh at home, so that you can figure out the difference between the two scales. My dr's scale weighs a lb. less than mine (so really, I am in ONEDERLAND), but I started my program using mine, so that is what I record losses by. :banana:

Here's another tip to all the newbies......speaking of the "too big" clothing. Once you find that you can't wear something anymore or it doesn't hang right, etc., have a packing party. Pack them up and get them out of the house, take them to a thrift shop, salvation army, give them to friends, etc. Just get them out of the house ASAP! That is another key to my success this time around. When I tried losing before, I would hang onto the clothes too long thinking they were more comfy since they had room, I didn't want to buy new ones until I got down some more, every excuse imaginable, but when you do that you find that you have room to grow back into them. :sad2: Do yourself a favor, make an investment in you and your new lifestyle, buy what you need to get you through the in between sizes and get rid of the "too bigs". It works, I know! :goodvibes

Everyone have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July!

I'm taking a break from journaling/diet...I did not feel right at all this weekend so I'm taking it easy!

Keep working hard! :)

Lisa

Lesli-It does feel good to have clothes that fit. These pants are like the most perfect ones for my body. I threw a small party and scared the cat because they fit again!!!!!!!! Thanks! Good idea for the too-big party!

Worfiedoodles-Thank you. My mom works with beans, asparagus and snow peas, but I've never actually tried the latter two. Looking forward to it. Enjoy

**BTW, who is bringing the meat dish for our virtual picnic? Are we going to "veg out"? :rotfl2: I slay myself**

Have a great weekend. The "picnic" is at noon tomorrow!

Hi Renee! You will be in the 150s before you know it! I am 'hoping' to be in the 140s by the end of summer, but I don't plan to leave our little group! I think we can stick around even if we past the 150s.

Debra

Welcome back Renee!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wave:

Tara-Thanks! Those are my fave pants...perfect cut, perfect color, perfect style! I appreciate it..that solidifies that I've lost! :flower: Oh-and do you use pork or beef ribs? Just interested, as I've only had beef ribs.

"Breathe, stretch, shake, let-it-go" I heard that on a song a week ago, so I'm trying to abide by that when I get cravings or bored or cranky.

Keep rockin' it!

Just wanted to peek my sorry head in again and say hello. I'm committed to getting back on track at this point, I've even changed my counter and my WISH logo back to a 15 pound loss from a 20. I had lost 29 pounds earlier this year at was at 193, now I am back to 205, ugh!

But, I've decided enough beating myself up about it, I'm just taking it one day at a time, and going to check in here regularily, same with the marathon thread. Both of those worked for me before so I hope they will again.

Sounds like there are some great losers here, glad to see so many doing so well. Renee, glad you are back around too and 167 sounds heavenly to me right now! :)

Happy Independence Day!

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

I made it through the reunion pretty well yesterday. There was a lot of white space on my plate and I ate the healthiest of what I could find with very small portions of each. Some things were only 2 bites, but I savored, but nothing was more than 1/2 c. I probably looked like I had the kids platter. :rotfl2: But, I wasn't over stuffed, enjoyed the food, and had good conversation with my gran. Dessert.......I had planned to share w/DD7 & DS, however, they just couldn't wait to go to the playground, so it was me and the dessert table alone. :rolleyes1 Thankfully, most of it was chocolate and I can get that anywhere. The thing that got me was the homemade gooseberry pie made with fresh gooseberries, not canned. I have not had it in 20 years, so I indulged, knowing that it will probably be another 20 before I have it again. So few make it. Should have gone for a half, but I didn't. Then I saw homemade blueberry pie (my fav) and I did take about 1/3 of a piece. :rolleyes1 Well the blueberry turned out to be black raspberry which surprised me since the filling was so thick. But it was good anyway. Did I share the gooseberry? No. :rolleyes1 I savored every bite. :goodvibes I couldn't find a good calorie counter on this one, fitday says that a regular piece of berry pie is 600 cal. :earseek: ............Well, every 20 years should be enough. ;)

I still consider the reunion a success, because I didn't over eat at all. If it wasn't for the homemade pies, I wouldn't have had any desserts. Weight today is still the same as yesterday, so I have learned that when all of your days are fairly good, one day that gets a little off track doesn't hurt much at all and won't as long as you get back on track afterwards. In the past, I probably would have gained 3 lbs from the reunion, but then I would have also been under the assumption that a reunion is license to pile the plate sky high.

Lisa - It's alright to take a break now and then, sometimes it is just too hard to get to the computer. When I have those days, I just make small notes on a piece of paper so that I can mentally stay aware of food intake, exercise, etc. It really helps. :sunny:

TigerCheer - I will try to be there at noon, however, I might be late. I'll send over the fruit before me. :rotfl2:

Renee - Welcome back. You can stay in the 150's club as long as you like even when you get under that 150. :flower:

Tara - Great job on the canoeing. :banana:

Welovedis - You can do it. Just remember, one day at a time. :cheer2:

Everyone have a great day and drink plenty of water! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Lisa,
Hope you feel better. On the bright side, you may lose weight while you are sick :flower: !

Hope it isn't anything serious. Take care. There will be another 4th of July next year.

Debra

Happy 4th of July!

I'm ready for the barbecue! Actually, some of the dishes on on my *actual* rather than virtual menu! My dh is helping me as much as he can. We're having barbecued chicken, grilled asparagus, spinach salad with chilled shrimp instead of egg and bacon, corn on the cob, watermelon, and a very small dish of Edy's grand light slow churned Caramel Delight (yum!).

The virtual menu sounds awesome, too! Yesterday was mixed -- I deliberately stayed off the treadmill, and my hip which had really been bothering me felt a lot better. But, my food choices left something to be desired. I had a big bowl of popcorn in the afternoon, and a big bowl of the aforementioned ice cream after dinner.

At least I made myself get back on the treadmill this morning. I didn't really want to do it, but I like the results too much to stop! Plus, I've got that weigh in Wednesday, so I want to earn that cd from Borders! I finally went fast enough to make it over 5 miles in 80 minutes. It's hard to not just jump in and go as fast as I can, but I know I burn out really quickly that way. Plus, my body hurts so much, I end up spending more days off the treadmill than on.

Lisa -- I really hope you are feeling better soon. The last thing you want to worry about when you don't feel well is weight loss.

Lesli -- You did fantastic at that reunion! I would eat homemade pie, too! How often are you really going to have that? Once every twenty years is not too often!

Renee -- Welcome back! I'm relatively new here, but everyone has been so supportive, you will be waving goodbye to the 160s in no time!

Karen --Be proud of yourself for starting again. I'm discovering that even though I have setbacks more often than I'd like to admit, starting over really does make a difference. My setbacks are getting smaller, and just plugging along doing little things does make a difference. You have done this before, so you already know you can do it!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday!

Hey all! A little late, but still here.

My lunch was 1/4 cup macaroni and cheese instead of a full cup, 2 hotdogs and strawberry/peaches. The macaroni and cheese didn't taste too good. Mom said she made it the same...maybe I'm starting not to like it. Which would be a blessing in disguise.

My dishes are here. Where's the RIBS? I'm starvin', Marvin! (even though there is nobody named Marvin here!)

Happy 4th to All!!! :goodvibes

Wow!! Been off the computer for a couple of days and there has been all sorts of happenings!! Let's see if I can catch up.........

Maria - How is the hip? Sometimes it is better to take a day off or switch up your type of exercise. Your menu sounds yummy!! :flower:

Lisa - How are you feeling? It is bad enough to be sick in the winter but I think it is worse in the summer. Did you make it to the doctor? Sending you pixie dust :wizard: :wizard: Don't forget to keep drinking liquids for your illness as well as your weight. :drinking1

Lesli - Glad you enjoyed your reunion :Pinkbounc and it is ok to indulge in REAL gooseberry pie as long as you do it in moderation. Sounds heavenly!! :cloud9:

Welovedis - WELCOME BACK!! :cheer2: :cheer2: Keep stopping by for your daily dose of CHEER!! :cheer2:

Tigercheer - Love the MENU!!!!!!!!! Double YUMMMMMMMMM!! Have a good 4th!! :wave:

Tara - Keep rowing your way to the 150s :rotfl:

To anyone else I missed - I MISSED YOU!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Having some people over today for a bbq. Of course today is the first day in a month that we woke up to rain!!! :umbrella: Can't it wait one more day!! We have having a traditional bbq of burgers, dogs, polish, pasta salad, potato salad, broccoli/strawberry salad(new recipe) and other yummies!! Will have to watch the portion control. After dinner we walk over to the golf course for the fireworks.

Tara - Cody is now going out for walks and for a 4 pounder he can set a good pace. But he doesn't like to lead :confused3 he would rather follow me!! So I have to walk faster so he doesn't catch me. :)

DD20 got off to Spain last Friday. Spoke with her - plane ride was loooong....and poor girl has no money. Her ATM card won't work in Spain (worked in Mexico) and she can't get a cash advance on her credit card because she never got a pin number. Had to scramble and send her money via Western Union (new experience for me). I will be at the bank first thing tomorrow morning trying to get the problem straighten out. Fortunately a girl she flew with offered to lend her money. ;)

Anyway I have babbled long enough. Everyone have a GREAT 4th. Indulge in moderation and tomorrow back to the plan!! :cheer2:

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Woke up yesterday morning to see 160's on the scale. I was really praying for 159.5 but it didn't happen. Oh well, next week for sure. :cool1: Had my DS 5th B-day party and I have to say that I ate the WHOLE piece of Chocalate cake that my sister made. I was so good. I'm sure if I got on that scale today it would be back at 161, so I'm staying off and really working the water today.

Taking the kids to the pool so I'm going to move those muscles in the water and hope for a good run this evening.

Good luck to everyone next week!

Tracy

I really flurpled up yesterday (translation: nightmare on Jen Street!) Okay. I did NOT follow my plan yesterday.

D: 1 pork chop, 1 baked potato, 1 spoonful cheesy dip, 3 chips, 1 "splop" baked corn, Diet Coke
Second pass at buffet: 1 hot dog, 1 splop (spoonful) baked corn, 2 slices Punky Cake, 3 carrots

What a learning experience that was. :teacher: So what did I learn? At a buffet, one pass. Then get the heck out of there!

No exercise whatsoever.

And also we were shooting off fireworks and my brother got something in his eye and had to go to the hospital. :guilty:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning! What is today? A: A brand new day! How are we gonna make it? A: Healthy, full of exercise and lotsa water! So let's get to it!
My plan for today:
Find some good workout exercises on line.
Make healthier choices today.
Babysit for the evil brats who tied me in a chair and locked me in a camper.
Library.
Remember that losing weight is not a race. Everybody has bad days. What matters on those bad days is the direction you're moving in. And my bad days certainly aren't as bad as they were before.
Snacks/esp. chippies, cake, cookies etc.: All in moderation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Linda: Thanks!! You too.

Morning All!! :sunny:

How was everyone's 4th?

I flurped (nightmare on Linda's body :rotfl2: ) as well!! It rained all day so I had everyone inside and my house is not that big!! :crazy: I never eat correctly when I am the hostess because I am running around making sure everything is running smoothly. I don't even know what I put in my mouth :teeth:

So today back to paying attention to what I eat and getting my water in. Feeling really bloated :tilt: like a balloon!!!

The 4th did go well even though we were stuck inside and did not go to the fireworks.

Cody (puppy) and Dd17 both don't like fireworks so they hid downstairs in the family room.

DD20 still can't get her ATM to work in Spain so I am off to the bank to get that problem fixed......always something :crazy:

Tigercheer - How is your brother? Fireworks can be so dangerous.

DJ - Lookin good!! :cheer2: Want to be able to share a picture with you someday. :earboy2:

Tracy - Did you move through the water and get rid of the cake? Sure you did!!! Yea for you!! :cheer2:

Last note - klutzy me fell last night walking the dog......on my arthritic knees. OUCH!! The knees themselves are ok but have a HUGE deep bruise.....everytime I moved in bed I felt my knee so taking the day off from walking with my friends. What a ding dong I am - misstepped on a rock.......lots of construction going on in my neighborhood - everything is torn up - lots of loose pavement- YIKES I am such a klutz - my DH will tell you I never learned how to walk....... :rotfl2:

Have a magical Disney Day!!
