Marathon Weekend 2027

POT question for *2028*

If DS3 ran a 10k this summer for a POT for the HM, would it still be good for MW 2028? We have couple of really inexpensive 10ks within a 90min drive during the summer, but our weather can be all over the place. I have never even been in the ballpark of a POT, so I have not paid any attention to the dates and cutoffs for those.
another data point, even though you already got a lot of answers - I used a POT from April 2024 for this year's MW. So a race this year should be good for 2028 unless they really change things up.

Good morning RunDisney All-Stars! Marathon Weekend 2026 is in the books and it's time to turn our attention to the 2027 event. Sundays Are For Disney (SAFD) is a weekly tradition we've had for several years now. SAFD is a question of the week, sometimes Disney related and sometimes running related, that helps to build community, pass information and experience along and keep engagement up during the year leading up to the big event. I've served as the host for SAFD for the past two years. So, on to our first MW 2027 SAFD. Do you want to continue the SAFD tradition this year? If so, does anyone want to take the reins?

SAFD: First off, thank you to @jmasgat for stepping in with last week's SAFD while I was otherwise occupied with MW 2026. As for the question itself, I would like to see us continue SAFD. I think it's a great way to keep people involved and maintain excitement for the race weekend. RunDisney events feature early registration and then a long wait for the event itself. It's easy for it to drop off the radar in the dead spaces and I enjoy having the opportunity to keep in touch with everyone. I've learned a lot from the folks here through SAFD and hope I've passed along some useful info myself, so it's a resounding yes from me. As for hosting, I'm happy to continue if folks want me to, but I'm happy to pass on the opportunity to someone else who would like to take a spin with it. I also very much appreciate when folks let me know that they have ideas for questions. It can be tough coming up with a question every week for a year!

SAFD: Strong yes for me as well - especially since for the time being I'm a one rD weekend a year runner, this keeps me coming back to the boards on a regular basis when otherwise I might step away when focused on other races. @camaker - I really appreciate you leading these the last 2 years - there have been some really great questions! I'm also going to make it a point to send you some suggestions over the next year. Also - if you do take the reins again, feel free to take more breaks - several of us would be happy to fill in for a week or two!

I guess I'm committed to 2027 now (assuming I get a bib). Booked my outbound flight this morning at a ridiculously low cost in points. Return dates don't open up until next week.

SAFD: Keeping up with this thread is one of my favorite aspects of Marathon Weekend and I think SAFD is key to keeping this thread active throughout the year. Big thanks to @camaker for keeping it going.

I would also be happy to provide a question or two every now and then, particularly if a more playful question that leans toward the Disney (movies/music/WDW parks) side of RunDisney is required.

Hello! I'm don't know if people remember me from the 2026 thread, but I was the undertrained runner who wasn't sure how far I'd make it on Marathon day. The long story short is that I (voluntarily) stopped after 13.1 miles, but I LOVED the experience and I'll definitely back next year to run the actual Marathon Weekend half, and maybe for the Wine & Dine half, too?

In any case, already looking forward to next year and to all the SAFDs to come. Thank you for making this such a welcoming and helpful place, and here's to 2027!
