Hello ladies, how are y'all doing today? I think I am doing great today, great becaue I am so far sticking to eating healthy. Here is what I have eaten:
B- Raisin Bran w/ half cup of 1% milk
s- Tortilla chips (only a few)
L- Turkey Burger with fat free mayo, ketchup, mustard, & tomato
I feel good and I hope I can keep it up through my "eating time" which would be any time after 3 pm until bedtime :confused3 I'm usually just famished and want to eat everything in sight.

Maria, I hope you are feeling better soon. May 10th for a fresh start sounds great, count me in.

Kat, how can you possibly be expected to concentrate on anything when you are this close to going to the World?

Kelly, I wish I could buy our tickets early, but I have to go to Shades of Green the day we get to WDW to get our tickets. Unfortunately, they need to see our ID cards in order to get our discount.

Msslaydbug, Welcome!!! Jump right in and start losing.

Have a great day!

Good Wednesday Morning everyone.

Welcome new comers

Welcome back missing in action people. I am sorry that I have been missing in action. Personality problems at school have been on my mind constantly this week.(we're talking teachers here not students) Ds1 moved back home from college this week and got his grades from this semester (Time to brag all A's and B's THe last two semester have been the best he has ever had since he startted college) Then ds2 had his spring band concert last night. It was a great concert and we had a great bake sale (I'm in charge of). It was sad to see the seniors being honored and knowing that next year it will be ds and his group and then I will be done with marching band.

My students take the AP Calculus exam this morning and last night at the concert I started second guessing myself, did I teach them enough, was I hard enough for them to get the grades they want, was I too hard. What ever happens happens. I am not taking the test they are. The ones who want to be ready are ready. I have some really motivated students taking the test and they should do fine.

After the beginning of this week I am so ready to get back on board. Even with all this stress my eating has been pretty good this week. Not great but not awful. I just have to get through the teacher appreciation luncheon tomorrrow but fortunately they always have a lot of salads so it should be pretty easy to be on track.

May 10th starts a new chapter. See you there.

Hello Everyone!

Looks like we have some very busy people on the boards! I know I have been. This is the wind down for DS's high school graduation and DD's 5th grade promotion. So, if I am MIA, I am still thinking on everyone and sending lots of encouragement!

Well, I had better send out those grad annoucements before it's over!:)

Welcome all the newbies, and best to everyone.

Wendy

What ever happened to the posting of weight lost accompolishments and the congratulations to those who made it to the one hundred fifies?

Happy Mother's Day to everyone. I hope that everyone has a great day. My ds's gave me my presents last night because after church this morning I am going to visit my mom and have breakfast with her, my dad and one of my sisters. My dh is going to visit his mother this morning and when we all come home ds will be at work. My husband gave me a great t-shirt, some chocolate covered raisins (doesn't this count as a fruit) and the first season dvd' s of WKRP in Cincinnati a great old comedy from the 70's and 80's. My ds's gave me the movie A Night in the Museum". It's a great movie especially if you have ever been in a musuem and thought about what could happen after the doors lock. If you have kids it is a great movie but could be scary but a lot of fun. THere is no cursing in it. THe reason they gave my present early was so that ds1 (who is working today) could see my face when I opened the Disney snowglobe that they gave me. They gave me the villan snowglobe. It has the witch from Snow White, Cruella(one of my person favorites) Hades from Hercules and Jafar from Alladin and coming out of the globe is the dragon from Sleeping Beauty. The music box plays a creepy villan type music. I can't name it but I have heard it before. I have been in love with villans for years. I have the villan poster from Disney in my classroom ( my students think that I have a dark side) and I am definitely not a princess type. I have always been this way. The funny thing is that when I turned 50 a couple of years ago my department threw me a party and the theme was princesses. I had a good private laugh about it later. THe funny part is I like the vilans but I am also a big Pooh fan

Well off to get ready for this crazy day. Hope everyone has a great one.

I have been promising myself that I would start and stick to a diet and this 150s club is just the encourgment and accountability I've been hoping for. My long-term goal is 153 lbs and I have quite a ways to go. I look forward to sharing with you! Thanks for the thread!

Hi Everyone, and Happy Mothers Day!

I know it's late in the day, I'm just getting onto the computer. I am almost feeling sane again after my crazy time at work, and ds and dh worked very hard to make today restful and make me feel like a queen. Now it's time to get ready for tomorrow and get back to the real world.

I was on a great eating streak (ok, two days) before today. Tomorrow I am back counting my points. I did 4.5 miles on the TM yesterday, so next week I'm going for 4.75. I plan to stop at 5 and start going slower. I know that sounds odd, but I want to move outside (slower), and also build my endurance. I'll still keep going fast for me for the short runs.

When I weighed yesterday, I was up 1. Since I'm in the middle of TOM, that was good. I probably will skip the scale until Wednesday or Thursday, to give myself time to burn off the excess of today. I won't be eating like this again until Thanksgiving! Thank goodness the only holidays between now and then I can get by with better food!

runswithscissors -- Hello! You should think Tara, our original OP. I know she's lurking out there!;)

Dona -- It sounds like you were in for a wonderful day, and I'm so glad you were able to celebrate with everyone. Both my mom and MIL are deceased, so it's sort of a bittersweet holiday for us. My ds is so proud of the things he makes in school, I just focus on that. :goodvibes

Wendy -- Congratulations on ds's graduation! Did you ever think you'd get to this day 10 years ago?! I bet those announcements went out with a huge heaping of pride!:wizard:

Michelle -- It sounds like you're eating well, you just need to pick a time that you don't eat after (which is good advice, I need to stick to it!). I'm trying to not eat after 8 pm. I can usually make that work. As long as I stop eating before I watch tv...:happytv:

Kelly -- I love LC's for lunch! I have one almost every day. It is an easy lunch, and they have enough variety to keep me happy.:thumbsup2

Kat -- Here's hoping you are having a wonderful time on vacation!princess:

ladybug -- So glad you're here! I just try to lose 5 lbs. at a time. Sometimes I have to lose those same lbs. again, but I have to keep going, giving up is not an option!:yay:

Grammy -- Low carb can do wonders for the belly area! I hope you are still enjoying the food. :)

Michele -- 8 lbs. is awesome! That is fantastic! You go, girl!:dance3:

Ok, I am officially in fresh start mode. I went shopping Friday and got low points breakfast, lunch and snack foods. I hit the produce aisle pretty hard. And I counted out 12 almonds and a light babybel for my snack tomorrow afternoon. I know it doesn't seem like that much work, but I really have to focus when I need to get a loss going. For me, it's all in the details.

I am going to weigh 5lbs less by June 1st, and if I don't I am going to be able to say to myself that I really gave it my best effort. Tomorrow, no more than 24 points of food, and I'm running 40 minutes when I get up before work. That means I'm up at 5:45 -- so I might as well get moving on a great day!:woohoo:

Maria

Hello Everyone!

Happy Mother's Day!

Maria--oh you bet I was bursting at the seams. And he is going to the same school DH and met at and where he proposed at! I never thought he would grow up, more because I didn't want him to. BUt, he has, and is going on with leaving home for college. Now, I just need to get thru graduation without tears! :sad1:

Rosie--I think most that have hit their goals have moved to different threads. I think everyone here is working on getting there. Someone else certainly will know more than I do!

Hope everyone had a great Mother's day, even those who don't fit into the category!

Today was fun. I did work for 10 hours 9 am to 7 pm. When I came home, dinner was all set, healthy and within the diet, with a gluten free cake and the splurge of the day, Hagen Daas Ice Cream. Just vanilla, since the cals are less as well as the fat. Yum! Did have my diet coke in a wine glass while the others had their milk in wine glasses! It was nice. DD had made a reciepe book in school. Each 5th grader submitted a reciepe and they made books and aprons. It was very nice. DD used an Emeril salad reciepe. So sweet. Thinking of me and eating healthy! Some of the other submissions were not even close to being healthy. Well, they are 10-12 yr olds!

Didn't walk today. Not good at all. Did do the mall for 3.5 hours yesterday looking for a 5th grade promotion outfit for DD. Did find a nice skirt, shirt and sweater. We did let her get a bit wild with shoes, wedgies that are a bit strappish. But, they are young looking, and she can wear them with lots of other stuff. And they were on sale! In fact, her skirt, shirt, sweater, undershirt, and shoes were all about 85! NOt bad when some of the dresses we looked at were nearly 100. And I did see a lovely shirt, but at 109 we didn't even consider it! It was lovely tho. And she can wear it all again and again. Something that might not be possible with a dress.

Well, enough of the family--I am a bit upset that I wasn't able to do my walk today, or to do a real one yesterday. My legs actually ache today and I know it is because of the lack of continuous activity. The lactic acid doesn't leave the muscles as well without it. Guess since I have tomorrow off and I have to do lots of running, I will probably do 2 walks tomorrow. I know the pooch will love it!

Too bad the Treadmill still isn't working. He just needs to put the level thingy back on to keep it steady. Guess I may have to have DS help me.

I am off. Time to hit the journals!

Have a great week everyone!

Great losses to all!

Wendy

Good Monday Morning Everyone.

It sounds like everyone had a great weekend and it is now on to another Monday.

This is a busy week for me. DS2 has a sweet 16 party on Friday, and his prom on Saturday. He has a meeting tonight, jazz band practice tomorrow night and a meeting with his Scoutmaster. On Wed he has a Board of Review for another award, an leadership assembly and a friend's graduation party that we are all invited to. We may have to pass on the leadership assembly. It was supposed to be last month and then on Sat it came through as this Wed when we two places to be already.

I have a doctor's appointment to have my cholesteral checked and my blood pressure. I had the blood work drawn on Sat morning at a new lab. My old one would have it back by Monday but they told me that it would be in in the middle of the week. To top it off last night my ear completely clogged up on me and now I can't hear out of it and the lobe is red. I had an ear infection in this ear in March and I think it is back. I spent a lot of time last night on a hot compress hoping that it would clear it up and it hasn't. I have to ask about decongestents becasue all of them say don't take if you have high blood pressure

Have a great day every one and I will let you know what the doctor says about my ear.

Hello everybody!!

I hope all of the moms here had a Happy Mother's Day. My was happy, but it was FAR from a low calorie day. We went out to breakfast and then it's our tradition to order Buffalo Wings with the trimmings on every Mother's Day, and no one wanted to break tradition. : )Those wings were soooo good.

Dona, I hope all goes OK with your doctor appointments and bloodwork. I have at least 3 dr. appts. coming up in June and it's no fun.

Wendy, you found some great shopping bargains!

Maria, keep up the good work!

Runswithscissors (I like that name!), our goals are similar. My ultimate goal is to get to 150-155 and maintain that for the rest of my life. 153 sounds perfect.

Tonight dh is working late and I've been promising the kids a movie night with pizza at home, so we might do that tonight. I'll have some pizza, but I will make the salad with lowfat dressing a big part of my meal. We just watched Night at the Museum and that was a good movie. Tonight we are probably going to pick a Disney movie. :goodvibes

I'm still biking about 10 miles/day, 5 to 6 days/week. The room my bike is in has no a/c. We live in an old cape cod house and the bike is in one of the upstairs bedrooms. We shut off the a/c vent to that room so that the a/c will be better routed to dd's bedroom. I have a big fan, but soon it will be too warm for me to bike comfortably unless I do it first thing in the morning. I usually bike around 10:30ish, so that will be a change. I do want to start walking more often, but will take it easy with that because I don't want a plantar fasciitis flare-up before our August trip. When the really warm weather hits, I might switch off biking with walking. It'll be a better variety for my body, anyway. This sounds funny, but another thing I've been thinking of doing for exercise is laps up and down the basement stairs. It's cool there, and it would be a good leg workout.

I hope everyone has a fun and healthy day!!

I would LOVE to join you all!!!
I have about 55 lbs to lose to get to 150.
I am very bad about cheating though or just "giving up" on the weekends.

I have a treadmill and we have walked outside when we can.
We also have a pool so I would like to do pool workouts soon as well. (I took a class and the instructor wrote down our class for us to do over summer if we can).

I know I don't drink near enough water so that is my first goal.

Good Morning, Ladies!

How is everyone? I'm a little down seeing my scale numbers after Sunday's splurge, but I'm confident that when TOM finally leaves and I have a few days of working out and eating right, I will settle back down to where I was before. I went up 4 lbs. since I weighed on Saturday. Some of it has to be TOM, but some of it is the joyous feast I ate continuously on Sunday, and the going away party yesterday with brownies and carrot cake...Anyway, I just feel like it's hopeless when I see the scale go up, even when I know why.

Today I plan to do 45 minutes on the bike while ds goes to gymnastics. I was going to wait until June to go up to 45 minutes from 40, but I'm getting impatient. I want to get up to 60 eventually, but I'm trying to just increase by 5 minutes per month until I get there. I just need to lose 5 lbs. and keep it off. Then I would feel like I was on my way. I'm getting ready to really rev up the exercise and eating right, so hopefully I will see the results I'm looking for.

Kara :welcome: The weekends are a tough time. Hopefully you will get support that helps you through this thread!

Kelly All that biking sounds great!:thumbsup2 It takes me about 40 minutes to do 10 miles, and I do it twice a week (or I should say that's my goal). Now I'm going up to 45 minutes, so we'll see how much my mileage increases.

Dona I hope your ear is better, and all your medical appointments come out with fantastic results! I know it is a crazy busy week for you -- just try to enjoy all these special moments with ds!:goodvibes

Wendy It must be so awesome to have a dd!princess: All the shopping sounds like so much fun. My little guy just wants his clothes green -- other than that it really doesn't matter what I bring home. I don't only buy green stuff, but I do make the coats, boots, scarf etc. primarily green. Boy stuff just isn't as much fun...sigh.

Everyone have a great, losing day!
Maria

Thanks for the welcome! I officially started my diet yesterday. I am using my PDA to track what I am eating and my weight loss. I generated an Excel document to chart my weight loss and have set short- and long-term goals. I hurt my back moving a sofa on Saturday and, once that heals, I will start walking each evening. I have a 4-year old who will ride his bike with me and we have a 5-month old English Mastiff who would love the exercise! I would like to lose 25 lbs by our October trip. It is 20 weeks away. I truly think this is an attainable goal.

Thanks again for the thread!

Sarah

Sounds like everyone is very motivated! I have appreciated reading your notes. I am doing pretty well. Down about 8 lbs and I feel my clothing fitting much better. Again, I'm not wanting to get very fixed on the scale so I have been limiting my weighing and relying on the way the clothes are fitting. Otherwise, Im on the scale 20 times a day. Switching one obsession for another for me. I am impressed with the exercise you all are doing. That will need to be my next goal. Keep up the good job! Grammy

HI everyone. Just want to welcome all the new people. We all seem to have the same goals.

Dr. found an ear AND sinus infection (second one in two months). I am on a week long antibiotic. My cholestral went down to 167 and the ratio is good but potassium is low so she added another pill. I also had to get my nose spray renewed and a couple of my other prescriptions renewed. When I went into the pharmacy it looked like I had a hand of cards to hand the guy. I said pick a card any card. Then add on Musinex to help dry out the sinus and ear and I am taking a lot of pills each day. Something helped overnight though. I can hear out of my right where yesterday whenever I talked I echoed in my head.

Well off to do some dishes and get the kitchen cleaned.

Talk tomorrow.

Dona,

Feel better, sweetie! I'm glad you now have all your medicine, and you can lick the ear and sinus infection!

Don't work too hard on cleaning, try to get plenty of rest!

Maria

Hello everyone!

Not much to mention, just a big hello to our newcomers and best wishes to them! The more folks, the more support and all that jazz!

Maria, you are right, it isn't as fun shopping for boys. DS was first, and with DD, it is a different event all together. I do feel that boys get cheated. And, shoes for men are way over priced!

Dona, hope you are feeling better. End of the school year is hectic enough without being under the weather. Give yourself a great big hug.

Grammy! LOL You are right about the scale being an obsession. I just wished ours wasn't right outside the shower door. Makes it too easy to jump on.

Sarah--WOW! That's a big dog! I have an aussie, and our previous dog was a sheltie, so the aussies seems big to me! I bet you get quite a workout! Enjoy the walks!

Kelly--I used to bike all the time. I never do now because I have such an issue with being unbalanced. And besides, I really don't need to give my kids another reason to tease me! My kids love it when we do a movie night. Most of the time it is also when DH is working late. Then we ususally do a shrimp stir fry since DH is allergic to shell fish and we never make it while he is home. Even the steam can make him go into respiratory arrest. That is one of the reasons we do not do buffets. Food allergies. We saw the night at the museum. Cool.

Kara--welcome! I too have the water issue. Just can't seem to drink enough. And those weeks that I do, I see a difference, so you think it would make a diffence knowing the positive effects. NOT! I will keep working on it. Too bad diet coke is tasty. :goodvibes

Next week is DS's graduation. DD wants to wear her new outfit to the ceremony. She has been wearing her new shoes around the house to get used to them. It is the first heel she has ever had, and they are a wedge. Thank goodness. She isn't as agreeable while we shop as I would like to enjoy, but as long as she gets to look at shoes and necklaces, we are good to go. :)

We did get to stop into the Disney store they have at the mall. I picked up 2 cute onesies with Mickey and Tigger on them for a baby shower we are going to tomorrow. My friend is having a boy. I picked up 2 small stuffed toys, one tigger and one mickey as well. It was all about $25. I thought that was pretty good.

OH, had to buy a new piano bench today. Ours has been getting on with it, and I no longer think it is safe. I had to order it on line, or drive almost an hour away to get to a store that sells them. Did find one for $130 and it had free shipping! Not too bad. Even if I found one 30 bucks cheaper, I would have spent it in gas.

Off to do my journal before walking the dog before I go to work!

Everyone have a great weekend!

Wendy

Good Monday Morning Everyone

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. It is finally sunny here in Jersey and I can finally hear out of my right ear. Still blowing my nose a lot but at least I can hear. Quite a change. I still couldn't hear on Sat night when I went out with some friends.

Ds2 looked great in his tux and I will try to post a picture sometime this week.

This is the beginning of the summer season this week and we need to remember to get out when the weather is great and do something for ourselves. I have three more weeks of classes and then a week of exams and I am done with school. I can't wait. I have an entire summer with nothing to do. I can't wait. I making a list of things to do to keep me busy. Tonight I have to work on a friend's daughter's prom gown, then I have to finish an afghan for another friend's daughter and for the same girl make her a bolero jacket for her Bat Mizvah (sp)

I got up and did a walk away the pounds tape and hopefully get in a walk and some yoga this evening.

Have a great day everyone. Try to stay healthy.

Where has everyone been for the last 3 days. I know that I have been suffering either a stomach viirus or a nasty migrain since MOnday afternoon. From Monday afternoon till about 11 AM WEed all I did was sleep. I wasn't asleep the entire time but a good deal of the time was off and on napping. I am starting to feel better but I had to come to school today since I have been out for 2 days. I don't know how I am going to make it through today but I will. Hope everyon is having a better day than me.

I am back from WDW, and finally back on track. I did slip up Tuesday night for an anniversary dinner, but Mon/Wed have been good and I have pulled DH back up on the wagon with me which will help tremendously.

My goals are to get to 170 by Sept. That is 25-30 lbs (haven't weighed since vacation so guessing 30). Then I would like to get into the 150s, preferably 150, before the Christmas holidays start.

The plan is to eat 1200-1500 calories a day, and exercise at least 3 times a week. Exercise for right now is Mon elliptical/weights, Wed ice hockey (women's scrimmage), Fri elliptical/weights. I may add an extra cardio day on Tuesday or Thursday, either elliptical, rollerblading, or ice hockey practice. In July I am going to try and join a men's ice hockey team in an adult rec league, which will add another day of hockey on either Sun or Friday.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
