I've been living here about 2 years and 7 months and I really don't have any good girlfriend either and sometimes I get a bit sad about it. Yeah, I've got my DH :rolleyes: ;) ... but sometimes a girl needs her girlfriends ya'know?

Exactly, luckily my DH is also my best friend..but it'd be so nice to have girlfriends again like I did back home. I also work from home here so I don't ever meet anyone except for online lol.

I work from home too so I feel your pain on that front as well.. too bad we don't live closer to each other huh? :cutie:

luna and still, I feel your pain too. I have lived here for almost 8 years now, but I have still not been that successful at the girlfriend thing. I have one or two, but as soon as I make a good one she either seems to have a child and become extremely involved in that world (which is understandable), or move away. I work in the tech field, and although I don't work from home, there aren't many women around.

still, how far away is jacksonville from me? I think probably at least a few hours...

Wow - it looks like I missed a busy weekend! I don't DIS on the weekends b/c my internet/computer at home is soooo slow. I might need to work on that.

I got my workout in this week (no skipping anything - plus I did extra cardio). I'm still working on the eating less thing. I'm a member of SparkPeople - a free website - and I track my food and fitness on there. On the weekends I don't track as much and I'm afraid I eat more. i'm going to have to track manually.

I've never done WW (my cousin is on it and she loves it. She does the online thing, but still goes to weigh-ins). SparkPeople is nice because it has all the tools and information you need, plus community forums, teams, etc. But, it doesn't have any accountablility, except to yourself.

I didn't get a scale this weekend, but I'm getting it this week. Then I can (hopefully) have some progress to post.

I was so excited about the nice weather - this weekend was great. But, its snowing again today. And its warm enough that its a slushy snow - the worst kind. I want spring!!

I saw "I can make you thin" on the guide this weekend, but I missed watching it. I'll have to check it out. I'll schedule it to DVR and then I can watch it whenever. We have a lot of stuff taping at 9 on Sundays though - I might have to look for a rerun.

I totally understand the friend thing. We moved here last year from Michigan and I haven't found any girlfriends. DH and I hang out with each other and thats about it. There aren't a lot of women in my field of work and I'm horrible at making new friends! Even in college, most of my friends were guys and we weren't that close (there's only so much you can discuss/do with guy friends). My only really girlfriend here is a friend from high school that happened to move to the same area. We see each other occasionally, but she has four kids (all under the age of 5) and we're not really on the same wavelength most of the time. I love her, but we don't have a lot in common right now.

Well, Monday morning, I suppose I should get back to work....

Hi Everyone!

Ok, so it's been a week on WW Online and doing all my workouts, and I've lost 3 lbs. I'm pleased with that. I know it's pretty low compared to BL #s, but I didn't have Jillian to yell at me or Bob to look at! :rotfl:

Today is a rest day for me. I've been planning out my full days Points, and not leaving things to chance. That really seems to help me. If I roughly know what breakfast, lunch and dinner are, I know how much or how little wiggle room I have.

Daisy -- Scale fever must be contagious! I got a BL scale this weekend. It's more precise than the one I had before, which only measured half pounds. This one has every 2 oz., so I like that. :goodvibes

Kat -- Finding new girlfriends is so hard! I've been in Boston almost 12 years, and I don't have that many -- and most of them I met at work or church. And of course you grow apart as your interests do -- there's no one who wants to lose weight or workout with me. :sad2:

Luna -- DH is also my BFF! We are a lucky group, aren't we? A supportive dh is priceless :worship:

Alicia -- I think as women we have very few opportunities to make new buddies. If it's not related to kids, work or a hobby, it's probably not going to happen. Who do you know who hangs out with their neighbors? No one I know. There are some moms I like from ds's school, but I don't think we'd ever really socialize other than playdates. Everyone is just so busy! :confused3

Susan -- Welcome! Tell us a little about yourself. I promise we will encourage you as best we can! :banana:

Anyway I will be forty in December and would really like to get more healthy this year. I would also like to not hate getting my picture made. Right now people that saw our pictures would think my children were being raised by a single dad. I look forward to getting to know you all. I am encouraged already.

hey susan! you know.. I'm really worried about that same thing. I'm trying to lose about 50 more pounds (I weighed in today at 201! woohoo!) but the thing is DH and I are going to start trying to have a baby in 2009... so what if just as I get to my goal weight I get pregnant?! :rolleyes: in some ways I feel like what's the use of even trying now until after I have a baby (or 2!)..

dkdaisy -- I'm ready for spring too.. will it EVER get here? Today seems a little nicer but geez! Where is the 70 degree weather already?

Ok, so the Beck Diet Solution I'm using has you add one new good thing every day. Today I have to find more time to work on diet and exercise. Well, I know what I need to give up, but dang I'm gonna miss General Hospital...:sad1: I'd rather give up some of the other inane stuff I watch, but I do that with ds, and it's kind of a family activity. I really would rather miss Power Rangers Jungle Fury :rolleyes1

Ok, once I calculated how much tv I watch, and I know it's way too much, especially when you consider I'm at work all day. But I've been watching GH since junior high! I saw Luke and Laura's wedding, and I just don't want to stop...what is a day without my daily dose of the mob?! Maybe I'll give up housework :rolleyes:

I had a good rest day yesterday, and tonight I'll be hitting the TM when I get home. I'm feeling good, and I swear my skirt and jacket fit looser today. I don't care if it is my imagination, I'm going with it! :cloud9:

I'm going for a walk at lunch today. It's 60 degrees for the first time in 2008, and I am getting out to enjoy it.

Luna -- It's worth it to lose the weight before you have the baby, take it from someone who didn't. If you already have the healthy habits, you will gain less during the pregnancy, and your more fit body will have an easier delivery. :goodvibes

Susan -- There are many of us turning 40 this year on WISH! My big day is in June. My goal is to be fit, fabulous and 40! I won't make fit by my birthday, but I'm going to do my best to get there before 41! It's so depressing when you have a baby and the weight doesn't melt away. You look at celebrities and just cringe. But, most of us don't have a chef, personal trainer, etc., and cannot devote 8 hours a day to being fit. If we could, we'd all look that good! :thumbsup2

and I know you are right about having the baby.. also, it's better to be fit when you are pregnant so you have less possibilities of complications and things.

Luna -- I'm already taping it and watching it at night...I'm at work or in transit from 8-5:30 every day, and I workout when I get home, then dinner, etc. I have to choose between watching what's on at night (which is usually not hard) and what I taped during the day. But, this is also our time with ds, so I can't really just go off by myself. It works okay if my workout is an hour or less. In order to make my workouts longer, I'm going to have to punt on the soaps more often than not. I'm just trying to get my head into that space. Thanks for the encouragement!:goodvibes

I went for my walk, and it was like being out in a wind tunnel by the really tall buildings. Oh my goodness. My hair certainly got a good airing today! :rotfl:

Hi all!

Welcome Susan! We are probably going to try to have another baby soon. But I'm still going to try to lose weight. I was at my heaviest when I got pregnant with DD6 and it took me till right before I got pg with DD3 to lose all the weight +10lbs. But I ws very happy to start that pregnancy 10lbs lighter than the 1st. If I got pg today I would be 14lbs lighter than the last time. Step by step! I found it hard to workout with a new baby. And so being lighter overall was easier to deal with for me. Good luck on both of your journeys!!

Way to go Maria on the 3lbs loss! And for getting out today. Did it stop raining in the city? It's been raining by my house on the Cape all day. I was planning to go but as of now 2pm I haven't gotten out.

I did go for a walk on Sunday which was good. Only did 3 miles, had the family with me and my DH tuckered out on me. Oh well. I had to make up for the baby shower I went to the day before. I ate before I went so I wouldn't be hungry but i still ate stuff and went over my calories. The real kicker was the cake was gross but I still picked at it and ate most of it! WHY???? Bad habits!

Tomorrow and the next day we are expecting pretty good weather and I'm getting out there again.

I forgot to watch "I can make you thin" this week. I'll have to look for a rerun myself. I'm still trying to be conscious of only eating when I'm hungry and taking note if I'm hungry cause I'm bored and things like that.

Thanks so much for the welcome. I am trying very hard to develop exercise habits. I'm just walking right now but I feel better just doing something. I am going on a cruise with a friend in October and would like to lose 40-50
pounds by then.

Luna: The pregnancy was definitely easier 50 pounds lighter than it would have been otherwise.

I just wanted to check in with everyone.

Everyone's stories about exercising and losing are really motivating me to try better! I have a horrible sweet tooth and I am trying to overcome that.

Tomorrow my "weekend" begins so I will make sure to get to the gym!

And water OMG..I need to start drinking more water!!! I know this will help me...and so will taking vitamins..so why don't I ever do it? :confused3

Sometimes I really frustrate myself because I am doing this to myself and I know I shouldn't :headache:

Stillthefairest- I can completely sympathize with the sweet tooth. Lately sugar free/fat free pudding has been my favorite thing.
 
Ok, so I just wrote this long post, and it disappeared into the ether...

The gist is I hope everyone's doing great -- my challenge this weekend is a trip to the movies -- I plan to portion a snack and take it with me, and then count on my plan to get me through all the sights and smells.

Good morning everyone! I have to say that if it wasn't for my husband I probably couldn't say this... but I lost a few more pounds and hit the 200 mark this morning!!! :woohoo: It feels wonderful! So since the beginning of the year (when I was 210) I have lost 10 pounds!!! :banana: My DH and I went to the gym last night and I was only going to walk on the treadmill because I had already worked out at home for an hour but he encouraged me to push myself.. he admits that my body is a little bit crazy and that loosing weight is a tough battle ... my body just doesn't want to seem to let go of it!!! so DH said to me.... doesn't that make you angry? You need to get angry and say "I'm going to lose weight no matter what it takes!!"... and well, I ran for most of the half hour and burned 350 calories!

anyway... my goal for the weekend is to at least maintain my weight and make sure I still weigh in on monday at 200. (even though I'd love to lose another pound or so! :laughing: ).

And my big goal (For now) is to lose another 10 pounds by May 14th. We are taking a small vacation to Texas to visit my family (I'm a texan, DH is a New Yorker) and I'd really like to lose 10 more pounds by then and buy myself a cute new outfit!

I bought a scale on Amazon today. It supposed to hold up to 440 lbs, which would be awesome. I guess DH is tired of using the truck scale, cause he asked me to find one that was strong enough for him.

I've been doing good with the exercise lately, so that's a bonus. DH says I look more toned. But, still sucking with the eating, so I'm kicking it up a notch.

Starting Sunday, I'm going to do the South Beach Diet. I did it about 4 years ago with my family and it worked pretty well, you just have to adjust to the lifestyle change (and I slipped back out of it). It starts of with two weeks of NO CARBS at all. Then I get to add them back in slowly. Wish me luck! :woohoo:

Tomorrow we're going to a baseball game, so I'll probably have a hot dog, on a bun, my last carbs for two weeks....

As for sweet stuff (I saw you talking about it a few posts ago) I LOVE sugar free popsicles and fudgesicles. I can't get enough of them! I buy four or five boxes at a time so I'll always have htem on hand. The best brand is the one they sell at Kroger. We don't have one here though, so I have to suffer with the Popsicle brand.

Hey all!!

Sorry I have been MIA lately, but work has been outright kicking my butt lately. Wed was a 9AM-11:30PM type of day.

However, I weighed this morning at... 173.2!! That is a 19 lb loss since I returned from WDW on Feb 5th, and I am now down 44.8 lbs since Feb of 2007.

Some day soon I might actually be in the this club...

Daisy good luck with the South Beach. I have a friend who lost 20 lbs on it and really likes it. I haven't tried the plan myself I've only limited carbs and I always see results when I stick to it.

I've been a slacker this week I haven't exercised at all this week. I've only done weights 2x. Argh! I know once I get back in the habit I will enjoy it. I need to get back to it. I've been keeping to my calories though so at least it's not a total failure!

Good luck Maria at the movies! I went last weekend and ate some popcorn and then looked up the calories. Definitely not low. At least I didn't eat a lot. I won't do that again!
