15 Things I Think About Our Recent Trip...

Op thanks for your honest point of view:thumbsup2 It was refreshing. Oh and well Peter Pan rocks:rotfl:

I think that the most intriguing part of discussions of wheeled conveyances is the connection with WallE. Why? Because the people in WallE needed it because of physical changes that made it near impossible to walk. The characters in WallE are not "fat"; their skeletons are melting because of the evolutionary changes of the fake gravity working on their bodies. They have workout facilities available, as you can see in the ads for the ships. But they can't use them, and ultimately get so caught up in the other things offered to them to take their mind off of it, that they don't think to use them until the captain *has to* walk.

So even though people want to see WallE as some condemnation of obesity, or even making fun of it (those people must have been talking on their cellphones instead of watching it, LOL), it's actually quite in line with people needing wheeled (or hover) devices because of structural changes in bodies making it well nigh impossible to walk, or walk easily, on their own.

And being from a family where all but one of the aunt/uncle/father generation has had at least one joint replaced (the hold-out being my father, who literally lurches from one point to the other b/c his knees are so beyond destroyed) I can say that it's better to use wheels when you need them, rather than risk falling when something gives out!

And yes, the rolls at BB are very very good.

I believe the Op addressed that.:goodvibes

"Now, on that note, the people I was referring to were the ones driving those things that were rude and inconsiderate, and didn't really even belong in one. Yes, many people require those devices and nobody should hold any ill will toward them, but my only real beef is that it I've encountered a few, a very small few, that are inconsiderate to others in the way they utilize their motorized assistance."

I think you're thinking I'm arguing with the OP. :)

editing to add that people always tend to bring up wallE in these discussions wherever they happen on the Dis, usually with some condemnation of it. I was thinking solely of this part in the OP's post, and any other mention afterwards:

"I heard one of the best comments this past visit from someone in line: "This place is looking more like Wall-E every time I come here.""

There are always many comments on this board about Disneyland being Walt's park, but I sometimes wonder what he would think about this controversy if he were alive today.

At a minimum, I presume he would be pleased at how many fewer of his customers smoke cigarettes...

Am I the only one who took offense to the description of the CM at Redwood Creek?

I don't understand why people throw race/culture into a description when it has no bearing on the behavior witnessed. Would the OP state the same behavior with the added race description if the CM was white?

I realize it's likely not an intentional prejudice or sterotyping, but it is something we all should watch and try not to continue.

I think the OP is trying to describe the CM to us, so that if we had experienced her we could join in, and that we could be aware of her.

If the OP hadn't described her, we wouldn't know who it was. Size and race are important aspects of the description of a person.

I agree partially with number one, I try very hard not to judge overweight people, however a lot (not all) of people driving motorized vehicles do not seem to care who they run over, this goes for parents pushing strollers as well. Once while exiting the park on particularly crowded night,:crowded: my bf tripped and to avoid a women pushing a baby in a stroller (he would have fell directly on the child) who was in no way paying attention to those around her as she pushed her way up steam on main street. He fell on to a lady standing near instead and she blew up at him like he was being a perv or something. Anyway all im saying is I dont like to judge people in carts and certainly not people pushing strollers (it is all about the kids after all) but some of them do need to watch out where there going so no one gets hurt.

Also the Wall E comment how ever inappropriate and judgmental is just the sorta dark humor I would laughed at :rotfl2: (sorry everyone its a vice I know :confused3)

In addition the bit about the pirates part I would pay alot of money to have people throw rolls at me from the restaurant::yes:: too

I wasn't offended by the OP's original post one bit, and in fact found it quite interesting and entertaining.

Thanks! :)

+1
Life is too short to be overly sensitive to such things. :)

I'm with Hydro Guy popcorn::

Have'nt been to DL in years, but I remember Peter Pan and I love that ride. Looking down on the city as you float over.

That would be cool to have them shoot over rolls from BB. LOL

I wouldn't say using 'Attila the Hun' was directed as a pejorative towards the CM's race, but it spoke much more to her character, as Attila the Hun was known for his vicious cruelty. They certainly didn't call her Sacajawea! ;)

:rotfl2:

I can just imagine POTCers standing up trying to catch the rolls when the whole boat tips. :rotfl:

I wonder how gross the rolls got before the CMs had to fish them out of the water. :crazy2:

:moped:

Have any of you ever been hit by a speeding scooter???? Well I have. By a very nearsighted senior citizen who was speeding in a shopping mall and rammed into the back of my legs!

Thank-fully, I was young, athletic and resillient. He gave a sheepish "sorry" and sped on his way.... I however was bruised and sore for days, but I hate to think what would have happened if I had been frail or a small child. It is NOT like being rammed by a stroller or a running child believe me!

pirate:

And I can't wait to ride POC!!! Last time I was there it was closed (2006) and I missed it so much.

Should this happen at DL, it would be extremely wise to get the contact info of the person who hit you, just like it was a car accident. You can't know at the time whether you will want to pursue legal action -- what if you need surgery or something?

If the driver tries to speed away without telling you their contact info, notify security. Be sensitive, but give any identifying details you can. Simply saying, "The guy who hit me was morbidly obese" is not going to narrow it down enough for the CMs to be helpful. ::cop:
