14 Happy Meals? Really?

Ok, so let me get this straight. YOu go to the drive thru, it is your time and you are entitle to order what you want in any amount. Ok, so as many of you stated, you would do this partially because you really can't carry that much food out. So you go and order and then you expect MORE THAN ONE of their employees to bring out your food, because as most of you stated, you can't handle all that food at one time.

I understand one thing, your posts are coming across as too bad, you wait your turn, I will take as much time as I need, I will pull forward and have multiple employees bring out my food, or have them make multiple trips, so I don't have to get out of my car and deal with my food. I understand perfectly.

Are you serious? So now it is a problem because one or more employee would help her not because it infringes upon your precious time?

Yes they do come across that way because the reality that you also seem unable to grasp is that inside or drive through PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO WAIT while she verbally delivers her order. There is nothing magically different on the inside that makes it any less of a wait for the people behind her while she places (and customizes) her orders. Now your issue is that an employee would bring her the order..the same thing that would happen if they get backed up on an item and it isn't ready yet..they usually have specially parking areas because they walk stuff out with a certain amount of regularity.

Well, gosh, if it's all about "convenience," then I guess the whole concept of fast food should exclude large orders! After all, fast food is a convenience, isn't it? We wouldn't want to inconvenience you inside, either.

And what about convenience stores? What is the magic cutoff for how many items a customer may purchase? Just as with drive thrus, there are no signs from the company limiting the number of items, but since you have a clear idea of how many items in the drive through is too many, you surely have an idea of how many items I should be allowed to purchase at WaWa (or the convenience store of your choice).

...

I'm sorry, but the entitlement attitude I see the most on this thread is from posters like you. The fact is that you are not entitled to use the drive thru in the amount of time *you* deem appropriate, period. You are entitled to order your food, pay for it, and get it. If you choose to use the drive thru, you do so knowing that you may well end up waiting because someone in front of you has a large order, has some special requests, or doesn't know what's on the menu and takes some time deciding what to order. They have just as much right to be in that line as you do. If you don't want to risk that, then you can be the one who goes inside. Why should your sense of entitlement outweigh their's?

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Nothing about McDonalds is quick, period.

I'd have gone inside or to a 7-11 just for a soda.

What if I only order a coffee and they have to brew a new pot so I have to wait? Then what? I followed the rule of not a lot of orders and you still have to wait.:surfweb:

reminds me of those ppl who have 20 items in the 10 item only line.

Except that the 10-item lane specifies a maximum number of items. Anyone who brings more than that is disregarding the store's policy. There are no restrictions on the number of items in a drive thru, so ordering a lot isn't breaking any rules at all.

That depends on how considerate you are to others, I guess. Ordering 14 happy meals is probably going to hold up the line a bit, wouldn't you think? And since we are on the topic, if you are order 14 happy meals, wouldn't common sense dictate calling ahead with your order?

You can't call ahead to a fast food place and have your order waiting. (At least not where I live.)

Going inside there is more than one line, and others inside can choose another. In the drive through, there is just one line.

Nope - the drive through line is just one of the lines available at the fast food place. If you find the drive through line too long, or that one annoying person is holding it up, you can choose to leave that line yourself and go inside.

And making 14 happy meals is going to hold up orders, inside and out. That's just a lot of food.

I'd use the drive thru and bring dh or my mom wih me and split up the orders with the 2 cars.

Guess who I was behind today while trying to get my large diet coke. Ended up stopping at the gas station instead.

I honestly think it makes way more sense to buy 14 Happy Meals at a McDonald's drive-through than it does to buy a soda.

But of course I'm not the boss of the drive-through line :lmao:

My husband used to work at McDonalds back in the day! I asked him about this and first off - he didn't think 14 Happy Meals, even with special orders, was bad. He said the drive thru is for the convenience of not getting out of your vehicle. They have the pull up space so you don't hold up other customers if your order will take extra time to prepare.

I don't even understand being willing to do the hassle of 14 happy meals. I'd just order a few pizzas and be done! It sounds like a field trip or birthday party.

Come on. It is a drive through. It is not an entitlement issue or rude or selfish to place a large order. There is no 10 item limit like at an express lane in the grocery store.

I think some people need to unclench.

Even if there were, some people would ignore it anyway like they do at the grocery store.

I do find it ironic after reading sooo many threads in the 11 years I've been on this board complaining about the "me me me" attitude that so many would be OK with this.

A bit off topic, but something neat I saw today at Chick-fil-A. They have a moms valet ordering service. If you are planning to eat inside you can go through the drive up and place your order and pay, then you go park, bring the kids in and a 'hostess' will bring you to your table where they have your food ready for you. I thought that was rather inventive.

Hmmmm...so if I order 5 combo meals for my family and have a total of 15 items, I feel entitled because I go through the drive through?:rotfl2:

I should not be able to go through the drive through? I say that is discrimination towards a family with 3 kids and that trumps entitlement.:lmao:

You what I was thinking? In all of my life no matter I couldn't tell you what the person in front of me ordered at any drive thru I have ever been through. You're lucky I can even understand them through that speaker when I am giving my own order.

We have 5 kids. No drive thru for us.:rotfl2:

i know, im just expressing how i would feel as the OP... :P

besides, mcdonalds make their food amazingly fast. i doubt u wait more than 2 mins for your food anyways...

Well, clearly, you. Must check with the line police before you even get in line. The person buying the .99 diet coke must be in the biggest hurry an therefore will direct the rest of the line to follow them.
