14 Happy Meals? Really?

Man, our mcd's is ahead of the times. The drive thru has two lanes for ordering, and a pull out area to wait for your food if thr order is taking too long. So I could safely order my 14 happy meals without inconveniencing anyone. Score!

Actually, what you are proposing sounds pretty entitled. How dare these people get in front of you and order, what you consider, is a large amount of food. Don't they know how precious your time is? How dare they make you wait!!!! They are just not as deserving of the drive thru and you and other with your short orders!

That whole entitlement argument can be twisted both ways. The bottom line is that unless there is a sign stating that you are only allowed to order X amount of items in the drive thru, then anyone can order as much as they want.

If you had 14 people in your car, you need to go inside. It is rude to keep one line waiting for 14 orders in one car. PERIOD. In my opinion. No amount of wording it, or saying different people, or individual, or group orders will change my mind. If you drove up to a drive thru and saw 14 cars in front of you, most likely you wouldn't wait, it is the same thing. To think that others should wait on your 14 orders so you don't have to go inside is rude, and entitlement at its finest.

So what number is acceptable? I can also guarantee you that I can order for my whole family quicker than it takes 2 adults to decide what number to order. Should they not be ordering because they passed the magic time limit that you are allowed to be there? Drive thrus are for convenience. That means not having to leave your car. It is not an express lane.

I live in NE also and have never heard this, not even from people that work at a McDonalds or other fast food place. They will just have you drive up a bit and then bring your order out to you when it's ready, that way it doesn't hold up the people behind in the line.

Actually I thought it was and still do since the OP and several others insist that the Drive thru is an express line. If it was an express line, then there would be a sign stating the limit to the items you are permitted to order.

I guess I should have bolded it instead would that have been OK with you?

Go inside! The drive thru is for those on their way to work in a hurry! To the previous poster, I agree Dunks is the best example. I have seen people fight in the drive thru line! Drive thru road rage! Get in and get out, otherwise go inside. ANyone who is going to order 14 meals should plan ahead on how to carry them. They need to get them inside their house right?

Really? We never eat inside a fast-food type restaurant. If a restaurant doesn't have a drive-up, we don't eat there. Not because I'm on my way to work and I'm in a hurry but because it's difficult to get DD's wheelchair out, put her in it, go inside and place an order that we will be eating at home, carry it all back outside while pushing her wheelchair, get her back into her car seat and pack up the chair back in the car/van. Rain or snow make it even more difficult.
When we get home, I make a few trips. One carrying DD and the other bringing the food into the house.

Sorry but there is no way you can twist it. I have enough common courtesy to realize that making people what for me to get 14 orders even if all under one GIGANTIC order is rude and entitled. So no this won't work, because if I had this large amount of food, I would haul my behind inside where there are multiple lanes open and everyone wouldn't have to wait on me. Exactly how is that entitled.

Just because there isn't a sign saying you can't doesn't mean you should. Courtesy, common courtesy. and realizing you aren't the only one around and other people do matter.

The only time I do the drive thru is for coffee at Dunkin' Donuts, and I would consider that something that is fast/express. A lot of people go there just for coffee on the way to work. There's actually at least one DD that I know of that doesn't allow people to order hot food in the Drive Thru line during the morning commuting hours-I think between like 6-10am. I'm from the Boston area and this particular DD is on Route 9 in either Wellesley or Natick heading towards Boston. They have a sign posted that says they don't do breakfast sandwiches in the drive thru during those hours and to go inside if you want to order one, because it holds up the line.

You are seem utterly incapable of understanding she would NOT NOT NOT be waiting at that window until all 14 orders were done and handed to her. Your precious time would not have been impacted anymore than the person who ordered whatever you deem an acceptable amount in one order. This is exactly what I was thinking. There are no drive thrus in my area that has a limit on how many items a customer can request in an order. Until they do, there's nothing someone else can do about it and are free to go inside to get their from the fastest moving line in the restaurant.

I do find it interesting, because I am trying to figure out who would be buying 14 happy meals, or 14 of anything, especially since not too long ago there was a thread about how people would refuse to pick up lunch for people at work. I have to say that I have never in all my 40 something years had the occasion to order 14 meals at place that has a drive thru. So does that answer your question?

Okay but I still don't agree with you. As for who would order 14 meals- If you have a lot of kids and their friends over it is very easy to get to a large number of meals like that.

Ok, so let me get this straight. YOu go to the drive thru, it is your time and you are entitle to order what you want in any amount. Ok, so as many of you stated, you would do this partially because you really can't carry that much food out. So you go and order and then you expect MORE THAN ONE of their employees to bring out your food, because as most of you stated, you can't handle all that food at one time.

I understand one thing, your posts are coming across as too bad, you wait your turn, I will take as much time as I need, I will pull forward and have multiple employees bring out my food, or have them make multiple trips, so I don't have to get out of my car and deal with my food. I understand perfectly.

Well, gosh, if it's all about "convenience," then I guess the whole concept of fast food should exclude large orders! After all, fast food is a convenience, isn't it? We wouldn't want to inconvenience you inside, either.

And what about convenience stores? What is the magic cutoff for how many items a customer may purchase? Just as with drive thrus, there are no signs from the company limiting the number of items, but since you have a clear idea of how many items in the drive through is too many, you surely have an idea of how many items I should be allowed to purchase at WaWa (or the convenience store of your choice).

I'm sorry, but the entitlement attitude I see the most on this thread is from posters like you. The fact is that you are not entitled to use the drive thru in the amount of time *you* deem appropriate, period. You are entitled to order your food, pay for it, and get it. If you choose to use the drive thru, you do so knowing that you may well end up waiting because someone in front of you has a large order, has some special requests, or doesn't know what's on the menu and takes some time deciding what to order. They have just as much right to be in that line as you do. If you don't want to risk that, then you can be the one who goes inside. Why should your sense of entitlement outweigh their's?

Because you feel that you time is more important then others. Because you seem to think that everyone else should live by your unspoken set of rules and morals. Because you have no consideration for how 1 person is going to get 14 meals and drinks out to their car singlehandedly. That is how it is entitled.

How do you know there are multiple lanes open inside? What if there is only 1 lane open? Isn't it just as inconsiderate to order that much in the restaurant and expect everyone behind to wait? Oh, and in the drive-thru or in the restaurant you are still making multiple people wait on you.

YOu are right it is there for everyone. Lots of things are there for everyone. People do inconsiderate things everyday in many ways. I am just expressing my opinion on the Drive thru.
