My grocery bill yesterday at Ukrops.

It actually wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't going back on Tuesday or Wednesday to spend another $85-95.00 on things I forgot to get yesterday!

No wonder I get personalized letters from the General Manager to stop in and say hello, and get a $5.00 coupon towards my next Ukrops purchase, plus a special gift!

I also get hand signed Christmas cards too.

I might as well just hand them my paycheck!

Blondie!! I got a hand signed Christmas card from Ukrops too last year!!! LOL! What IS is about that grocery store that is so addictive....other than smiling sales people, great variety, super quality and superb customer service?:teeth: It is birthday week here...dd on the 13th and dh on the 16th...don't you love their cakes?;) The "magic" of Ukrops...that's what sucks us in!!!

I'm sure you already have the 500 turkey points needed for a free turkey then.

Which Ukrop's do you go to?

the manager at Costco knows my dad by name and always greets him with a smile. seems every time my dad goes in, he spends over $100.

but then, my dad shops for 8 people and five cats.

Oh yeah, I get a free turkey every year!

I go to the one in Spotsy. County. It's still relatively new in these parts, and I'm glad they're here! It's my favorite store!

I love Ukrop's. I wish we had one here. My Dh family lives 3 mins from one in Richmond. I love the whitehouse rolls. I bring back about 4or5 packs of them everytime we go up.:D :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Ukrops.....Bi-Lo. Are you guys talking a wierd language? :p

I presume these are stores like Jewel or Dominicks?

Blondie

You have no idea how much my DH can spend at the store for just the two of us! I could buy a mansion if he spent half the money.

I never heard of Ukrops unitl a few years ago! Seems to be exclusive to Virginia.

When we lived in Philly, we had Pathmark, Acme, Supersaver, Genardi's, Shop-N-Bag, and years ago, Penn Fruit and Pantry Pride.

In Maine/New Hampshire we had Market Basket, Shop-N-Save, Purity Supreme, Star Market and Shaws.

And here in Virginia we have Food Lion (on just about every corner  ) Giant, Ukrop's and Shoppers Food Warehouse. All the Safeways closed down.

The only one you named that's in my area is Food Lion. We have Bi-Lo, Food Lion, Shop Rite, Save a Lot, Depot Market, and there's the grocery section in the Super Walmart. Bi-Lo's the best buy for me.:)

In Chattanooga, they have Bi-Lo, grocery section at Super Walmarts, Kroger's, Winn Dixie. I'm sure there's more, but those are the one's I've been in.

I have gone to a Piggly-Wiggly, too, but that's in Alabama.;)

Ukrops is strictly a Richmond market chain. When I first moved here, the main grocery stores were Ukrops, Hannafords, and Food Lion, and Food Lion was the only one I recognized. Winn Dixie is also here but only a few stores scattered around.

I found out early Ukrops is the one to shop, but when I was single, I did my grocery shopping on Sunday mornings when Ukrops is closed, so it was Hannafords.

Since then, Hannafords was bought out by Food Lion, I believe, and they sold the locations here in Richmond to Kroger.

The only thing I don't like about Ukrops is they rarely put milk on sale. Kroger does about every other week.

Browneyes, the first time DW Lauri saw a Piggly Wiggly was when I took her home to GA to meet my mother. Calhoun has two Piggly Wigglys (it's a big small town :teeth: ) and she couldn't help but laugh at the name.

browneyes....ukrops is a family run grocery store that started years ago as one small store in Richmond Va. and has now grown to many many stores all over the state. They have not opened any stores outside of Virginia and just in the last few years have they grown out of the Richmond area. They not only have great stores but are very community minded and give back to this area in so many ways.

I thought it was Lauri that giggles at that name, I couldn't remember which dis'er it was for sure though.:p I know Calhoun.:) I was there 2 weeks ago. Ate at Ryan's with my brother and my SIL.:) I don't remember seeing the Piggly Wigglys though. Are they over there by Sonic? (I still haven't seen the Sonic you said is there, but I'm on a search for it.:p My SO told me it's on the other side, I go down by the schools and then the road that Walmart is on, I'm awful with road names:o ).

Thanks for the info, Jodie.:) It looks like Virginia has Blondie to thank for a lot of things it receives through Ukrops.:p

The first time I heard of Piggly Wiggly was on "Driving Miss Daisy!" I love the name, wish we had one around here!

Ukrop's is the way to go...you get escorted out to your car, which is great especially if you are shopping alone in the dark. After 3:00 you get escorted to your car by cute college kids! During the day time it's retired gentlemen. I met one who was a DVC member, and who has a son that lives in Orlando. We had a great time talkin' Disney!

We don't have any of those stores around here, but I remember shopping at Food Lion when I lived in VA! :teeth: They were everywhere!! LOL I also shopped at Farm Fresh when I lived there. Are they still around??
