..I appreciate the photos and the time people take to give us a glimpse of some places that I have not been in yet...I dont like all the places in Epcot, but that is because I dont care for some of their foods.....
Thanks to all the posters who have given us their reviews and great shots of good eating.......thank you

SO PLEASE be kind and keep your negative comments to yourselves...

Let's clarify - this is a dining review. This is not the debate board. This is one person's report back on their dining experience and their thoughts on what they ate. If you do not like it or do not agree with it. move along htere are other reviews to read.:surfweb:

Thank you,

Thanks Pumbaa_ & pumba!

Also, the results are in!!! I went ahead and tallied up the receipts.
The DDP would have cost us $911.76

We spent OOP on food and snacks that would have been covered in the DDP (not including appitizers, extra drinks and tips) $945.53

We spent $588 on extra drinks, tips and appitizers (which would have not been covered in the DDP, but we would still have gotten regardless).

Making it if we were on the DDP, we would have only saved $33.77!

So there you have it! Frankly Im glad we didnt do the DDP. We werent limited, and we didnt have to hear what we could and couldnt order. Worth spending the extra $33 IMHO.

Will we go the DDP route next time? Theres about a 99% chance that we WONT do the DDP!

Dont ya mean gravy;) When can I come for dinner!:thumbsup2

Gravy has meat in it. Meatballs or short ribs, I cook it for about 8 hours. Then skim off most of the oil and add extra virgin olive oil near the end of cooking.
Yes, my side of the family is very Italian. Savino is my maiden name.

We aren't doing the dining plan this year for the same reason you mentioned (we have done it twice in the past). We want freedom without having to worry if we can order it or not :) Worth $33 more to us as well.

Love the reviews and pics. You gave me a lot to look forward too and a lot to reconsider....

Thanks :thumbsup2

Awesome review! Lilo & Stitch looked like alot of fun. Can't wait to read more!

Look people can argue with my statement. But like it or not, the only way your gonna find actual 100% true mexican food is in mexico. There might be good places around the US that might be "true" mexican food, chances are though, they are using american ingredients and/or cooking it another way then they would have in Mexico.

I think the reason people are getting bent out of shape is because the comment you made can be insulting to anyone who is of another ethnicity and living in America. You are saying that the food they make it not good enough. I personally think that is a pretty hurtful comment, and perhaps that is why you are seeing harsh reactions. My grandmother cooks Indian food the exact same way she did in India, even using the exact same spices since they are imported from India. To tell her she was not authentic would be insulting, and I think that is how many people felt in response to your comment.

Have I ever commented on people making their own stuff? No. I commented on restraunts. Not what you make in your house. Just about everyone (not everyone, almost everyone) on here took what I said the wrong way, twisted it in million different directions and posting negative comments about something I NEVER stated. I cant help if people cant read inbetween the lines. Oh and I NEVER said that the food that people make wasnt good enough. Those words NEVER came out of my mouth or typed on the computer. I dont appreciate people putting words in my mouth. All I simply stated was in order to get 10000000000000000% authentic food from another country, you need to go to it. Where in that statement did I ever say that people cant cook or isnt good enough. Or Im bashing other ethnic groups? Why on earth would I bash other ethnic groups? Im irish. I cook irish food a lot. Is it just as good as I would get it in Ireland? Heck no. And I know that.

I'm sorry but I think anyone could take your comment that way. You said no food made outside of Mexico can be authentic Mexican, which would seem to apply to anyone cooking Mexican food in America, whether it be for 5 people or 500. I'm not trying to argue as you can have your own opinion, but by proclaiming it as fact I believe it was rather offensive to those who cook ethnic food in America.

You really don't get it do you?

Many ethnic restaurants (not chains) are owned and operated by families who immigrated to America. The items severed in these restaurants are authentic.

Do yourself a favor. Eat some of this "authentic" stuff weither it be Mexican, Italian, French, etc. and then go and visit that country. I bet you any money that food will not taste the same. I know what Im talking about. I have had some pretty good mexican food from mexican family owned places and have been to mexico. Guess what...they taste nothing like each other.

This is where Im stopping. I have asked everyone to stop with the whole issue and even 2 Mods have come on and have said something as well. It apparent that a lot of people cant let go of this issue. Im not done with my reviews, but oh well. Enough is enough.

You are really missing it. Please step outside yourself for a little bit and see this from someone else's point of view.
The "all I simply stated" is the part that is insulting.

So lets look at an example.

Lets use my neighbors from Mexico. The same food they made in Mexico their whole lives, is no longer authentic because they now live in the usa? Even though they are able to get the same products they bought in Mexico. But because its here, its no longer authentic. You don't think that's insulting to someone?!

Ingredients make the dish, NOT location. The dish orginates from the country or region and can be duplicated anywhere with imported ingredients.

I'm so done with this thread. Its very immature to not expect people to be insulted and to not see where you would be insulting someone.
Goodnight all.

I really think if you added a "in my opinion" to this comment, people would be able to let it go. It is the manner in which you state that it is a fact and that we are all wrong that many of us find insulting to our ethnic backgrounds. I really hope you can see how this would be offensive to a person of any ethnicity. If you do not see this then I don't think anything I say will convince you, so I won't continue to belabor the point. Best of luck with the trip report. Goodnight.

Your the ones who are missing the point Im trying to make. A lot of places do not bring in spices or whatever from the country they are making the food from. If they have the spices, fine, whatever, it could be authentic provided they actually make it the exact same way they would in that country. But if they dont have those spices and other ingredients, it becomes americanized and its no longer authentic. Thats my point I am trying to make. Now weither or not you all see it, I dont know. I dont know how much clearer I can make myself. Just because its here in the US doesnt mean its not authentic, I know that. What makes it not authentic is them not using the same ingredients and same cooking process as if they were to make it in the country its coming from. Overall, believe it or not, many places you go to are using ingredients from here and MAYBE a combination of imported ingredients. It cost a lot of money to import ingredients from another country. Something family business and chain restraunts really cant afford to get unless they are doing extremely well. It much more cost effective to purchase ingredients here and try their hardest to make it taste authentic. While some places might cook with nothing but imported ingredients, its still not gonna taste exactly the same as if it was coming from that country, because of the way its cooked.
