I just recently spent 12 days at Disney World :) We ate at 26 restaurants and I have to say Epcot restaurants win hands down.

We ate at
Dinner
  • Chefs de France - Best dinner of the trip
  • Via Napoli - close 2nd
  • San Angel Inn - I usually love this place, but after eating at the above 2, it wasnt up to the usual top of my list
  • Artist Point - Not impressed. Possibly my fault as I ordered my filet well done :) Cali Grill is much better
  • Yachtsman Steakhouse - Better than Artist Point, but I still like Cali Grill best.
  • Trails End - Never again. Leftovers fro the BBQ and HDDR, literally. So gross.
  • Mickeys BBQ - What you expect for food, but a nice show and fun for the kids
  • Spirit of Aloha - good food, nice luau show
  • Cindys Royal Table - surprisingly good food, slow service, very slow character interaction.
  • Be Our Guest - Never again. I expected way better, so I was really disappointed when it wasnt even good.
Lunch

  • Plaza - delicious as always. Light meal, nice atmosphere, great service. My favorite lunch spot.
  • Grand Floridian Cafe - Best food for lunch, but we were practically the only ones there and kind of left unattended ??
  • Forgot the same of the place at Typhoon Lagoon, but it was counter service. Great salad, fast service, nice meal
  • Sci - Fi - this would have been on my never again list...until dessert came. OMG. The cheesecake covered in chocolate and caramel MMMMmmmm. Have to go back just for that!
  • Kona Cafe - wasnt a fan, breakfast is much better. It was more the menu I didnt like, not the actual food.
Breakfast

  • Akershaus - OK. eggs were runny :(
  • Tusker House - better than Akershaus, but I dont like the African seasonings in almost everything. Makes everything taste sweet.
  • Boma - I never tried this place because I thought it would be like Tusker House. I was so wrong. Best breakfast of the trip.
  • Cape May - they downsized the buffet since the last time I was there, but still had decent offerings
  • Hollywood and Vine - this would have gotten my #1 if I didnt got to Boma! Great offering, large selection.
  • Crystal Palace - Large buffet, but I think Hollywood and Vine had more :)
  • 1900 Park Fare - OK. But, it had warm bread pudding w/ vanilla sauce, so I may have to go back!
  • Be Out Guest - Nope...Ick.
  • Ohana - After all the buffet selections, it just didnt compare, but it was a great opportunity to interact with Lilo and Stitch. That is the ONLY reason Id go back.
  • Kona Cafe - So delicious. Best Al la cart breakfast
  • Captains Grill - It was OK. Wont go back. Would rather go to Konas twice :)
So my picks were:
Dinner - Chefs de France
Lunch - Plaza
Breakfast - Boma

Be Our Guest - Never again. I expected way better, so I was really disappointed when it wasnt even good.

I am going to show this to my DW and tell her I'm not the only one... :rotfl2: She thinks BOG is on the same stage as Cali Grill. I think more along the lines of Cosmic Rays.. lol

I agree with a lot of your comments. We didn't think Yachtsmans was all that great and BOG wasn't good.

Worst meal at Disney-Mama Melrose-really gross Italian-don't do it!
Really? We enjoyed Mama Melrose. Ate lunch there two years ago and thought it was sort of middle of the pack as far as Disney table service restaurants go - better than Rose & Crown, San Angel Inn and most of the buffets, not as good as Chefs, 'Ohana, Teppan Edo or Boma.

moved you over to the review board...sounds like I would love to do some restaurants in disney soon...thanks for doing this

I am surprised by Trails End, our meal was great. Food was hot/fresh and the service was great as well.

Interesting - we're eating at some of your "never agains"! We will most likely go to Captains Grill for convenience factor. Getting to Kona when I'm hungry and un-caffeinated doesn't sound so fun!

Also am trying Trails End - will let you know! At least I know it will be "cheap" and they have a full bar menu!

About trails end...we are going soon. How did you know it was leftover from the other events?

Trails end is the best for vegetarians and vegans because they have chef tj so it probably makes a difference what your going for maybe its not at good if your not veg because the chefs have gotten used to the high veg demand

Honestly, it probably was not leftovers, but its the same exact food, under heat warmers.

Here are some photos....

Maybe its a sports bar?

Soft serve ice cream, cobbler (nothing more than Comstock canned fruit in a bowl)

There was also a carving station with pork and I *THINK* roast beef. Even the salads were like bagged varieties. Nothing seemed fresh or good. Im no snob...the BBQ was good with burgers/hotdogs/pulled pork/salads all seemed fresh. Trails end was really bad.

Curious to know what you ordered at BOG that was so awful. We had a fantastic lunch there on our last trip. It was honestly the best meal of our trip!, but that was a year ago....

We had breakfast and dinner there. By far the bottom ranked of our meals during our trip. I dont know official names of the meals, but I got the chicken breast (on bone..I was surprised). No flavor at all. So bland, and a little undercooked. Here are our BOG pictures...

Apparently I didnt take pictures of our dinner, only the desserts...

The "grey stuff" tasted like a Lil Debbie brownie with grey colored cools whip on top. Not quite delicious..

The restaurant was clean and the service was great, I had a great meal. If this was a restaurant that you wanted to try, still give it a chance.

Thats what I did :) I posted a question about trying a new place, and Trails End got nothing but positive feedback. I was surprised at how bad it really was. Our ressie was at 7:10, so maybe because it was kind of late for dinner that the tables were empty (a lot not even cleared) and the leftovers were out. We were staying at the Poly, so had a nice ride via monorail to the Contemporary, then nice ferry ride over to Ft Wilderness. I loved the outside of the restaurant, and the cute porch with rocking chairs. Some kids were out front riding bikes and playing with hula hoops. Adorable to watch. Then our name was called. Thats where the fun ended. I had seen pictures before and never imagined there would be TVs on over the bar. Never knew about the arcade either, with kids running in and out. Our table was directly between the bar and arcade on the lower floor.

Oh well. Obviously with 26 meals and a couple ice creams, I never went hungry :) I had a nice salad, which I loved because as much as I like most buffets and even though I only get a little of this and a little of that, it adds up and Im usually rolling out of the venue. The smaller the meal, the better for me. I did get some soft serve ice cream before we left, then just as we got back to the Contemporary, we could see the fireworks from the MK. We sat at the pool for a little bit to watch them. It was a wonderful night.

I do agree, I did not know that it was part of the bar at Fort Wilderness, I sat up top and we did have an earlier dinner, 5:30, I think? And my 2 year old passed out on the boat from the MK and slept until we left FW, so my review is also based on the fact that it was a quiet meal for my husband and I :)

Trail's End is my favorite breakfast on property. Try that if you decide to venture back over!
