12/5/09 -- DUMMY -- The Cruise Your Heart Desires Most ; )

Debbi -
hope your surgury went well. Haven't been able to skim -but had to come online to post this.

Hey Guys,

Need your help, got an idea yesterday. You all know that I sponsor 2 soldiers right? Well, I've been in a state because I recently had some packages returned. My first thought was that something had happened. I haven't heard from any since before May but I plod along as usual assuming they get the packages as they have never returned.

So last Monday, one package came back. Finally heard from on organization and they reassigned me to another. The other organization does not have anyone right now but DESPARATELY needs help for some wounded soldiers at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center I believe in Germany?????

Anyway, they are trying to fullfill a request from the Chaplain over there -they want to hand out 500 Christmas Stockings and she only has 30 pledges right now. I believe with the economy being the way it is - she may not get this request filled. I, myself, am committed to 3 and I thought - what better way than my DIS family to try and help.

So, here is what is needed. This is a one time project and much simpler to committ to than a one year writing committment. All that is required is stockings with some items in it to be mailed before Thanksgiving and if using priority mail - by December 1st. HOWEVER, even if you miss that deadline, please mail it. The organization likes to hand out the stocking to wounded soldiers around Thanksgiving. Last year this lady orgainzed 1000 stockings.

So, if anyone is interested, please PM me and I will give you more details on what to buy and who to write too to get the address. You all know for security reasons I will not post here but it is of vital importantace that we help our wounded if we can. Also, don't feel like you can't help if you can't sew - I am DEFINITELY not a sewer but we have this wonderful Dollar Tree Store that sells stockings for $1. That I can do!

Thank you all for listening!

:goodvibes

If interested - please contact me via PM or e-mail and I can suggest what to send - and what not too - also, the Post Office has some flat rates for military personnel and you can probably get 2 stockings in it for less than $10 to mail.

Thank you for your time!

Lisa..............You need to book the 15th to the 22nd. :flower3: We will all be leaving the 22nd.:sad2:

Ask Stephanie how we would talk in the halls til 2:00 am.:goodvibes :goodvibes If Stephanie is willing to melt in the hot August sun.............you must change your time to be with all of us.

Nooooo! Go a week earlier...join us..otherwise we will have to wave at the airport!

All right I moved my arrival date up to August 19th. By the time August rolls around I'll have had so much kool-ade, I'll probably be moved up to the 15th.:rotfl2:

:wave2: Everybody -

Just wanted to post a big

THANK YOU

to everybody that pm'd or emailed me regarding the Christmas Stockings for the wounded soldiers in Germany. I got about 12 responses from everyone and many have pledged to do more than 1. I told Nancy that my DIS family would help and they certainly did. Thank you all and before I forget - have a save holiday season.

Now, if your still interested, please pm me or e-mail me and I will send you the info.

Thank you again and you may now return to your regular scheduled programming.

Hey Diane!

Hoz it goin'? I'm just passing through here... gotta go into town ta see my Dad this morning. Then run some errands.

At any rate ... It's that time of year again and heres' news that SOME might make use of - IF you're living in or visiting Sounthern California this December:

... That should save your family about $100+ depending upon how many go (and how often). Knotts and MM have again run thier Toys' for Tots program offerring free admittance for a dontated toy. We're entertaining proposals for when you might want to go. The more the merrier, eh? The simple details and dates are as follows.

Magic Mt. has free admission for an unwrapped new toy VALUED at $15 on Dec 7th, 13th & 14th.
Knotts is December 6-7, 13-14, and 20-21 with a $10 unwrapped toy.

At KBF you save $42-52 per adult and $22 per child or senior. Here is the link to KBF web page - it is MIS-catagorized at the BOTTOM of this page in the section for FALL and not WINTER. http://www.knotts.com/park/calendar/index.asp

At Magic Mountain you'll save $59 per adult and $29 per child over age 2 and under 48". Here is the link for Magic Mountians' page on this event. http://www.sixflags.com/magicMountain/events/Toysfortheholidays08.aspx NOTE athat at Magic Mountain they have a potential security issue since they've got an obvious sheriff's office at the gate with an imposing row of airport style metal detectors (2 dozen?). It seems they've had gang members bringing weapons into the park to fight before. I've heard 3 gangs claim magic Mountin as inside "thier" terriroty... so occassionally there are "disagreements". However, for the time being Magic Mountian has the biggest and baddest roller coasters in Southern Cal.

Cheers, Tom

Hi Tom!

Well those are some excellent savings! Thanks for posting them! Too bad we can't take advantage, but I'm sure someone will find them useful!

Went to dinner last night with Mary Ann, Chrissie, Mike & families. It was very very nice & I think Mike will have some pictures to post. I just hope he photoshops mine first!

Are you near the fires? I hope you're not getting too much smoke!
