12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

Do we have to wait until we are on the boat before we find out our dining rotation? I'm thinking about a Paolo booking but there are some places I dont want to miss eating at. Also, I know they do a special Xmas menu in the main restaurants but what about Paolo?

I have heard that you can call and ask for your specific rotation about 30 days out... about the time you get your luggage tags and boarding forms. I think it's pretty safe to assume that since you have a new baby and your sister has little kids that you will have TAAP. Another option might be to book Palo at sunset during first dining rotation and then go to your regular dinner assignment with your kids during second. Nobody will stop you from doing that. Nothing wrong with having two dinners. I think most people come home a little heavier from a cruise. It's in the rulebook.

So I did mention the Longhorns. "I merely chose A&M due to their poor showing and loss" They kicked defending National Champs bohonkeys the next two years!!! I told him talking about football in Texas is like talking religion and politics because football in Texas is BOTH!!! I then gave him other schools to choose from next time (Tech, SMU, Baylor, UH). Didn't mention the sniper though. Didn't want cops knocking on my door for threats. I don't think that guy works. I think all he does is post comments. Seems that he is being more judicious with his postings to others though. :thumbsup2 He mentioned some crap about sending DD to Hawaii for honeymoon through another timeshare and first class tickets from ATL to HI. Puh-leez. :snooty:

By way of correction, there are no "ex-Marines". Once a Marine always a Marine...just some of us can no longer fit into our uniforms :rolleyes1

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Heard that before. Thanks for the visual. And I know a few who can't fit. Had someone do that with their Eagle Scout uniform not too long ago as well. It was HILARIOUS!!!! Not that there is a ny comparison btw Eagle and Marine. Almost joined myself until I broke my back and five ribs. Imagine the female to male ratio...:cloud9: That was a good selling point. :lmao: Glad to hear you guys are safe.

Which leads me to wonder, where are the DH's? :surfweb: Get them to the keyboard. I need company. party:

I'm here now so no worries.

This is a last minute trip for us. DW booked while on her PC last week.

We just found out that DS (18) will be able home for Christmas so this will be his first chance to enjoy Palos. This sure is turning out to be an expensive meal.

I should be getting a letter from Conceriege one day this week, with a phone number to call on the 10th .When I call to make our early bookings, I am going to ask what, if anything, they can find out about our itinerary, and any possible changes for Christmas. I have ready these guys can find out just about anything you want to know about your sailing. :worship:

It looks like it should be a pretty normal day in Nassau. Here are the ships that will be in port on 12/25. The passenger count is just about a middle of the range day.

25
Carnival Fascination
Disney Wonder
Regal Empress
Passengers: 6,324

Hey everyone. Well I think fall is here and we are in for a wingdinger of a winter. I just turned on my fireplace....gotta love the flick the switch on the wall gas type heeehee:thumbsup2 I am hoping today's post on THE thread will be my last:lmao: Hope everyone is doing ok and is safe! Four more days until the 105 day mark!

I see that online and on my confirmation, it says that we have the day at sea before Castaway Cay, but on other websites I see that we will do CC before our day at sea. Which one is it :confused3

We have done a 4 nighter before and it was after our day at CC. I wouldnt mind seeing what its like to have the day at sea first. :thumbsup2

Just checking.

Does anyone have a copy of the activities that go on during that time in the Navigator? I would love to have an idea of what goes on during that time. And the navigators are a great resource.

I saw a Navigator around here somewhere. The options are LIMITLESS!! May have even been on the Passporter website. Try a search on a search engine and see what you come up with. I would be surprised if you found one for a past Christmas cruise although I would imagine they will do more holiday-related stuff.

Actually, that made me think of the fact that I will most likely have to plan another Disney cruise in order to experience things that aren't centered around holiday.

Oh, and there was someone a few pages back on our thread that mentioned what the itinerary was the last time they did a Christmas cruise. I was told that if they change the itinerary we won't find out about it until we check-in at the port. But maybe Brenda can find something out from Concierge. :woohoo:

For those of you who want to know, sunset is at approximately 5:27 or 5:28 depending on the date (25th vs. 26th). I am DEFINITELY doing the sunset Palo reservation (crossing my fingers that all you guys don't take it first since I have to wait until 10-10) and then joining the kids for dinner at our second seating time since I too don't want to miss a restaurant. BUT if I did, I have read that Parrot Cay is the one to miss.

Will Christmas dinner affect Pirate Night? I hope not! I know it's the third night but didn't know if the itinerary will affect all that as well. :confused3

Oooh good idea the ivory tower would be in the know:goodvibes ....c'mon Brenda spill what's going on????

:woohoo: caught up with you guys. Just finished reading 70+ pages of posts. :3dglasses Not to mention several other DIS threads. I've received my Passporter book and am a third way through it.

Remember this is our first cruise and my kids first Disney experience. You could say it is my first Disney experience as well. Although I've been to both Disney World and Disneyland, it was over 30+ years ago when I was just a little Marine (remember "Once a Marine, always a Marine"...and yes we get to pre-date our Marine-ness  ) You don't think Disney has changed any in the past 30 years do you? :rolleyes1

Still not clear if we are in Nassau on the 25th or not but from your discussion it looks like it is the Capt's call. I think Christmas at sea would be great. I'm not sure if we'll do Atlantis. DS would love it, DD would not. I may try to get them to do the dolphins at the Blue Lagoon. I wonder If we hit Nassau on the 26th will the Blue Lagoon be open what with their holiday and all.

I still need to find either gradysmom, ilvdisney2008 or one of the other Ebay Fishextender ladies and order a three pocket set for the kidlings and I.

I don't recall reading any discussion here on magnet or door ideas besides the FEs. Are you guys doing anything special? I thought I would ask one of the DIS designers on the other threads for some magnet pictures.

I read that several are driving in. Anyone doing the autotrain out of VA? Anyone shipping luggage to the ship?

Finally my thanks and hats off to AndyGA for finding so many links to good stuff on the board and net. I've got a ton of new Disney related bookmarks all made just this morning because of you. :surfweb:

For door magnets, we just use 8x11 magnet sheets from Office Depot and print something simple on our color printer. Simple and quick.

Glad I could help JoDale. I have asked around and received from some of the talented folks over on the main board some great magnets. I may ask the woman that designed our birth announcement to come up with some others for our door.

Garlic allergy? I cant imagine going through life (or at least dinner) with that allergy. Last night's dinner alone would have killed you dragnfly (yummy shrimp dish at this great cajun restaurant). And while you are turning on your fireplace I'm still using the AC...

Brenda you gotta get the info out of them on what day our day at sea will be. We'll all appreciate it:worship:

Oh, and dragnfly is probably the only person that will appreciate it but here is our son's first picture with a pro hockey player....:thumbsup2
