12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

Glad I could help JoDale. I have asked around and received from some of the talented folks over on the main board some great magnets. I may ask the woman that designed our birth announcement to come up with some others for our door.

Garlic allergy? I cant imagine going through life (or at least dinner) with that allergy. Last night's dinner alone would have killed you dragnfly (yummy shrimp dish at this great cajun restaurant). And while you are turning on your fireplace I'm still using the AC...

Brenda you gotta get the info out of them on what day our day at sea will be. We'll all appreciate it:worship:

It gets worse I am allergic to eggs and fish also (fish with a tail fish not shellfish) Dh says coveniently I am not allergic to the expensive stuff:lmao:

Oh, and dragnfly is probably the only person that will appreciate it but here is our son's first picture with a pro hockey player....:thumbsup2

Is it hockey season yet?

Awww look how big he is getting already!!!! Bertuzzi is part of the Flames now:eek:

:woohoo: caught up with you guys. Just finished reading 70+ pages of posts. :3dglasses Not to mention several other DIS threads. I've received my Passporter book and am a third way through it.

Remember this is our first cruise and my kids first Disney experience. You could say it is my first Disney experience as well. Although I've been to both Disney World and Disneyland, it was over 30+ years ago when I was just a little Marine (remember "Once a Marine, always a Marine"...and yes we get to pre-date our Marine-ness  ) You don't think Disney has changed any in the past 30 years do you? :rolleyes1

Still not clear if we are in Nassau on the 25th or not but from your discussion it looks like it is the Capt's call. I think Christmas at sea would be great. I'm not sure if we'll do Atlantis. DS would love it, DD would not. I may try to get them to do the dolphins at the Blue Lagoon. I wonder If we hit Nassau on the 26th will the Blue Lagoon be open what with their holiday and all.

I still need to find either gradysmom, ilvdisney2008 or one of the other Ebay Fishextender ladies and order a three pocket set for the kidlings and I.

I don't recall reading any discussion here on magnet or door ideas besides the FEs. Are you guys doing anything special? I thought I would ask one of the DIS designers on the other threads for some magnet pictures.

I read that several are driving in. Anyone doing the autotrain out of VA? Anyone shipping luggage to the ship?

Finally my thanks and hats off to AndyGA for finding so many links to good stuff on the board and net. I've got a ton of new Disney related bookmarks all made just this morning because of you. :surfweb:

Hi Jodale! I had a lady on the creative DIS forum make this up for me. I am going to transfer it onto t-shirts for the family to wear on Christmas Day!(I re-sized it for the DIS)

No

It looks like Ike is going to miss Florida except for the Keys but now the Gulf has to worry again.

Yes, we are happy Ike is going to miss us, but we are worried because Matt (DS) is in Biloxi, MS on the Air Force Base training to be an Air Traffic Controller. Classes were cancelled last week for them so they could first evcuate if necessary with Gustov and then to help with the clean up afterwards. I hope Ike doesn't cause them any more headaches, but it is not looking good at the moment.

Ressies....I hope they keep some Palo open for us non CC members :sad1:

I know there were unhappy people who could not book Palo at their respective dates on-line, but I think everyone ended up getting a dinner reservation once they boarded the ship the last time I sailed. In fact, each time we have sailed that has been the case pretty much. So, DON't PANIC.

Do we have to wait until we are on the boat before we find out our dining rotation? I'm thinking about a Paolo booking but there are some places I dont want to miss eating at. Also, I know they do a special Xmas menu in the main restaurants but what about Paolo?

Yes, you will not know your dining rotation until you board the ship. It will be printed on your key to the world card. If you want to pre-book Palo on-line, you just need to pick your date and hope. Also, once you get your KTTW card and see your dining rotation, you can always go the Rockin Bar D (or whatever that venue is called on the Wonder) and change dates once you board.

Yes, there will be a special Christmas dinner menu. Also, tradtionally they have given out gifts to all of the kids by Santa on Christmas morning (so bring your cameras).

When I was on the EB Panama Canal Cruise, Ducky Williams was on board and he said there would be a special litho by him for each cabin for those sailing over Christmas on either the Magic or the Wonder. SO, unless he mis-spoke, that will be a nice gift for each of us.:cool1:

dragnfly

The Flames are one of my favorite non-Thrasher teams since they used to be here and I love Phaenuf but that changes with the addition of Bertuzzi. I seriously dont know why he is allowed to play in the NHL. Marty McSorely was kicked out of pro hockey but not Bertuzzi:mad:

Am I the only one that had to google Ducky Williams?:confused3

Oooh good idea the ivory tower would be in the know:goodvibes ....c'mon Brenda spill what's going on????

I still don't know anything. Got a note on my DU reservation page with the phone number for Concierge. I'll call tomorrow morning as soon as I get my family out the door. I'm hoping they can at least tell me what the norm is for Christmas. I'll let you know as soon as I get off the phone with them.:thumbsup2 And I choose to ignore the ivory tower comment:rolleyes1

Welcome to all you newbies! Sorry I haven't been around much. My trucker hubby has been home alot and I've been haging out with him.

Adrianna, so good to see you posting again! Good luck with the research. I'm sorry to hear they dropped your flight. AA dropped our orginal flight out,but our new flight is just an hour later.

Annette, I don't think we are going to do the FE. I just can't get the teenagers to take to the idea. :confused3 Guess I'm the only one in my family that knows how to have fun.

Andy, your little guy sure is growing!

JoDale, glad to hear Hanna didn't cause any problems for you guys.

Ok, gotta go watch my Cowboys pummel the Browns:thumbsup2

Catch ya later!

I have not read all 70 pages so I am just wondering.....why is there a question about going into Nassau on Christmas Day?

We been on DCL before over Christmas and had port days as normal on Christmas day. I have known them to only change ports due to weather. They have to many third party vendors lined up for all their shore excursions to not go into a port.

So what as someone heard to raise the question?

Hi scuba diver

Yes there is a question about the Christmas Day itinerary. This will be our second Christmas cruise on the Wonder. The last time the captain changed the itinerary and did the sea day on Christmas day. Several pages back there was another poster for this cruise who has sailed over Christmas several times, and each time the captain has spent the 25th at sea, then done Nassau. The reason being that many of the shops are closed in Nassau due to their holiday of Junkanoo being on the 25th also. We are all confused as to weather we will be at sea or in Nassau on Christmas day. I'm going to ask concierge tomorrow and see if they can possibly find out something for us.

Am I the only one that had to google Ducky Williams?:confused3

You're not the only one. I had to Google him as well. Wow, a gift from him sounds like it would be nice. Might even interest DD who is a budding artist...among many things :snooty:

Don't mean to be a serial poster but I just caught what Brendalee wrote. As a born and raised Cleveland, Ohio native I just wanted to say...

we're rebuilding...yeah that's it...and the Cowboys cheated...and the sun was in our eyes. Hey it was only 28 - 10. At least we kept the Cowboys out of triple digits. :upsidedow You just wait til next year.
