12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

Cabin Number(s): Unk

Ages and number of kids: DD 16; DS 13

Fish Extender participation y/n: TBD, but probably. (need to sell it to the kidlings. any ideas?)

First or second dinner seating: 2nd

Pre/post Disney resort stay: No, driving in from NC.

Hi Jodale. Glad to see you back. Being a single Mom is a huge job. I was one for a few years and worked full time too before I re-married so I understand:hug:

The fish extender is just small token things from your area or even small homeade things to exchange. The more people that join the thread the cheaper the trinkets become:rotfl2:

If you don't want to make your own I have the name of a lady on Dis who makes beautiful ones. I purchased mine from her!

If we do not have a dis meet on the ship just include your room number on the first day with your FE items attached with a small sticker etc so we can find your FE and exchange with you.

It is very hot here and dry. It is 30c or approx 90f today. That is warm for here. It is supposed to be quite warm until Thursday. Our kids start in 17 days. I am going back to work after being at home for the last 8 years. It is only a couple hours a day but it gets me out of the house as the youngest starts grade one this fall. It is at our local school just down the street so it is close.

Hope everyone is doing ok:goodvibes

You guys are going to love this. I thought I would email Disney Cruise about the questionable itinerary. This is my question

We have a four night cruise booked on the Wonder from December 24-28th,
2008. It has been brought to our attention, that their will be a
itinerary change due to our Nassau stop being on Christmas Day. Will the
Nassau stop be on the 26th or will it be cancelled completely?
It would be beneficial to know as we will begin booking Palo, excursions
etc in a few weeks and want to ensure they are booked on the correct
days. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Annette

This is the cookie cutter response I got.

Dear Annette,

Thank you for booking a Disney Cruise Line Vacation!

I would be happy to assist with your request.

In reviewing our reservation system, I see the itinerary for your cruise
is to set sail on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, from Port Canaveral. On
Christmas Day, you will be visiting Nassau in the Bahamas. Then on
Friday, you will have a relaxing day at sea. And on Saturday, you will
have fun and sun at Disney's Castaway Cay.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you! Have a Magical Day!

Annette, I'm not surprised at the response. It's the captain who makes the decision. Our last cruise, nothing was mentioned about a change in itinenary. :confused3 I don't expect to know for sure, till we are onboard.

Cabin Number....8532

Ages and number of kids....two kids....DD and DS both 16

Fish Extender participation.... not sure yet.kids think they're too cool for that...but I'm working on them

First or second dinner seating....1st seating.

Pre/post Disney resort stay....four days at polynesian.

Annette,it has actually cooled down alot. Think we barly got into the low 80's the last two days.

The twins started school Friday. They are sophmores this year, but I remember when they started kindergarten like it was yesterday.

Jodale, no one thinks you are being anti social. My dh is a long haul trucker,so I feel like a single parent sometimes. I haven't been around much lately myself. Just not enough hours in the day it seems. Anytime you can stop by to say hi, do so.

Only 19 days and I can book our spa and excursions. :dance3: Parasailing and a cabana couples massage on CC. Think I am going to book the couples villa for Christmas Day. That should work whether we are at sea or in Nassau.

We booked the REAS package and are also able to begin booking in 19 days.:cool1: Id their a a couples villa on the ship?

Room: 2112

Ages: Very nearly 6 (boy) and 23 mos (girl).

FEs: Yeah, if I manage to get my **** in gear and order them...

Seating: Second, but supposedly high on the waitlist for first.

Disney stay: Dec. 20-24 at Shades of Green, Dec. 28-30 at Wilderness Lodge.

Almost done unpacking!

Brenda - have you done the couples massage before? DH is interested, but would feel weird with a guy massaging him. :rolleyes1 Do you know what all they do? And what is the couples villa? We are definitely going to to try to book some of that stuff, but we can't until 10/10!

ONE week till school starts, and so much to do! Most of my room is ready, but this week we have so many time-wasting meetings, it makes me insane - and it means I will be spending my evenings at school.:headache: DH understands and is always helpful this last week of summer w/ kids and dinners, etc.

Annette - congrats on the job! I was home for 9 years, and it was tough going back, but I went full-time. No CHild Left Behind happened while I was out, and I came back to a different world - everything on computer, but somehow still SO MUCH paperwork and documentation!! But I LOVE teaching 2nd graders, I have a fabulous school, and a great team to work with. I'm mentoring a brand-new teacher this year, who also happens to be my DD's teacher this year - she is so precious and excited!

I am stalling - DH wants to paint the playroom, and I should really go help...if I don't make it back on this week, you'll know why!

BTW, I have read almost the entire thread now - feel like I know y'all! :goodvibes

Courtney - are y'all Aggies? Saw a pic of you DS in a jersey and wondered - DH is a '91 grad. (I know you are doing US this year, but tell DD that we saw a Jack Sparrow at MK that was so incredible, DH kept asking me "Could it really be him?" There was no way it was JD on Christmas Day, but he was incredible! He was doing the "Pirate School" street show, and DS was thrilled to get picked to participate!)

Andy's sis - I have a DD7 who will be in the Oceaneer Club - she makes friends easily, but is a little concerned that she can't go in the lab with sister and brother. her name is Marcie, and she will be 7 1/2 - I'm sure she'd love to play with your DD! We are celebrating DH's 40th on the cruise (12/27) so let me know what you find out about birthdays on the ship, and I'll do the same. So far, it looks like we will be at CC on his b-day, so I may just plan a special day there. But I'd love to have a special b-day cake.

Time to quit stalling and go paint!:thumbsup2

I'm planning to sit down this weekend (between football certification, band practice, piano practice, church, laundry, doggie duties, cleaning, and organizing school supplies...school starts in a week) and I am going to read this thread from beginning to end. And then collapse.

Ok so it's taking a little longer than one weekend. What I've learned so far is that several of us have children with ADHD although most of them seem to be boys. I think that's true nationally as well. For me it is the DD.

I've also learned that I have some fellow military company, although I'm retired Marine Corps (since Spring of this year) and currently a "civil servant" with the Marine Corps. I trust all of the "soldier" families in this group won't hold that against me (or feel intimidated...alright, cheap shot...I couldn't resist) :rolleyes1

One misconception I should clear up. I'm a single dad (widower - Nov '06), not a single mom. Not that there is anything wrong with single moms. :worship:

Which leads me to wonder, where are the DH's? :surfweb: Get them to the keyboard. I need company. party:

OH SNAP:upsidedow Sorry bout that!;) I will now commence to go hide under my troll rock  I am sorry you have to do it alone you sound like a great Dad!:grouphug:

:wave2: Newbies here. My family and I are booked for the Christmas cruise on the Wonder it is our first cruise ever and in addition to being Christmas, we will be celebrating my daughter's sweet 16th birthday. princess:

OMG! When is your DD's birthday? Ours will be turning 16 shortly before the cruise. We will definitely have to hook them up at Aloft, or whatever it is called. There is another 16 year old girl on here as well. Just ask Brenda. :goodvibes

Welcome aboard! It is our first cruise ever as well.

Hi Courtney how is things in your neck of the woods.:surfweb:

Okay. So I have a LOT to respond to. I apologize for my absence. Taking care of work till all hours of the night, packing DS for camp, going on vacation (a short trip), party, another party, more work, work, work, work,.....and a sorry attempt at keeping my sanity. :thumbsup2 Found a few pounds that I had lost. Guess it was all the working and the partying. Hard to be good eating when you grab the first thing you see because you are starving and don't have a lot of time.

JoDale...guess we just thought you were a chick because most of us are. And look at the list of things you are going to accomplish!!??!!! Can you come here and share the wealth??? My DH gets here sometimes. Very rarely. He makes an appearance twice I think in the previous posts. I think you and he will get along splendid. One of our friends in Scouts is retired Marine as of this summer. They are like two peas in a pod. DH was headed to USMC OCS when I first met him until he broke his collar bone. :headache: Tell the kids that doing the FE is like playing Santa to everyone. Kids that age are all about sneaking around so this ought to be fun. Worse case scenario....get out the spy gear and the hum the Mission Impossible theme as you sneak around. I do it at work all the time. (That's kinda funny when you realize I'm an operating room nurse at a children's hospital) Hope that paints a great picture or at least a funny one.

DisneyMama - Aggies by heart. They don't have a nursing school so I didn't attend.....as a student. Attended as a girlfriend, friend, fan, etc. Initially wanted to be a vet when I was younger and you can only go the TAMU route for that. Put one horse down and that destroyed that dream. Didn't like that aspect of the job. DS is more of a fan than DD. 1991 huh....have some friends that were there at the time. I came a few years later. I would have loved to see Captain Jack at MK. Can't tell DD just yet unless I figure out a way to tell her so as not to give away the cruise. They just know we are visiting Florida, WDW, and US.

The weather here has been AWESOME!!! :cheer2: :woohoo: :dance3: Could do without all the rain though. I was wishing I had a sweater this evening as DS was launching rockets 600 ft in the air with his troop. It was CHILLY!! Supposed to warm back up this weekend though. Only been in the 80's. Nice break from 110+.

Now...which newbie has the Camry and Tundra?? Wish I had the hybrid but I don't. Sounds like kindred spirits to me. :goodvibes

p.s. sorry about the one quick post earlier and then i disappeared. had to answer someone's beck and call about a surgery. :confused3

Oh, Annette. My buddy.
2.gif
During one of my escapades this past week I came up with a great drink.....part mango mojito, part sangria margarita swirl. boy i'm thirsty. thought of you. :lmao:

My kids don't start until the 25th like my other Texas neighbor around here somewhere...We are only about an hour away from each other. I'm in Keller/North Fort Worth. DH works in Southlake. Can't believe how much Allen has grown. I remember when it was nothing. They are sooooo ready to get back to school. Yeah, we lost that week long fall break as well. We also had two weeks of Spring Break!!! Not anymore! :sad1:

I understand why Brenda gets to book so soon what with her penthouse and all, how come you get to Annette? I'm jealous....

Remind me about the REAS again?

I'm glad the Comfort Suites Christmas issue was brought up because I considered doing that. However, on the upside....I have the opportunity to attend a conference at Atlantis for 5 days in February. Fully paid. I just need to decide if I'm going to do that or Vail and skiing. :confused3 Hard decision. Alas, the kids wouldn't be with me. :dance3: :cheer2: :rolleyes1

I wanted to do the dolphins at Atlantis by booking them directly but if we don't know what day we will be there until we sail then it sucks and we shouldn't do it. I want to check to see if the pirate museum will be closed.....Need to check dining rotation too.

Okay...sorry about clogging up the board. I know I've been away. Here is my info:

Room: 7543

Ages: DS 11 (just this past April) DD 16 (barely...on the 10th) Do we put our ages too?

FEs: yes. I am so going overboard I have to rein it in.

Seating: Late
Adrianna, I understand you passing on linking and that is fine. My heart is with you though and I'll be thinking of you.

Disney stay: AKV 21-24

We'll get a copy of all this, right?

Now...which newbie has the Camry and Tundra?? Wish I had the hybrid but I don't. Sounds like kindred spirits to me.

That would be us...we are Toyota junkies!

Yes, the weather has been crazy cool here! 77 in Texas, in August!

Courtney, I got lost in Southlake going to a teacher's conference! And went to elementary school in Keller for a couple years as a kid. :thumbsup2

We got our cruise planner yesterday - and our passports too! Woohoo!

We are so Toyota junkies too. Strayed for a little while but came back. My dad had one of the original 4Runners and before it had BIG things start happening to it the mileage was 300,000+! I plan to keep this one for a while.

We got our cruise planner a few weeks ago as well. Got the passports a while back, a month or so. Got most in one week! Had a little problem with DD since her father is MIA. They should've told me I had to send the court order regarding custody in the first place. Since she will be 16 in December they asked why I couldn't wait until then as it will last for 10 yrs instead of 5....all the while I'm trying to keep all this a secret.

Here's a good question....I noticed that for Exuma, Bahamas you need yellow fever immunizations. We don't need to get any right?
