12/19/2009 - 12/26/2009 Magical Christmas Cruise! It's not that far Away?

Hey guys...just checked and we got our cabin assignment. Two cat 12's...ugh, I was hoping for at least a couple cat 11's but that's okay. We are in side-by-side cabins which is going to be nice and the cabins we got get good reviews. I'm sure glad we booked 2 cabins for the extra space!

Sorry to hear there was no cat. 11 upgrade Kim....but don't lose hope! they can still change the room :)
 
Being a teacher, I like the idea of the teacher themed slogan alot, but I just thought of something....

in fairness to those that are not teachers and may feel left out if we use something that is geared towards educators, should we maybe use a more generic slogan? :confused3

It's just a thought...let's hear from everyone on this to see what you're all thinking...

I think it might be better not to have the teacher slogan especially because there are kids that are not teachers and (also adults that are not teachers) in our group. I do think all the teacher slogans are very good, I'm just throwing this out there for consideration. (I taught marketing for 6 years)

We have been given 2040 and 2042 which are cat 9's
Am I right??
From looking at the deck plans I notice that 2040 is a connecting room to 2038 which will be a bit strange but never mind.

Kimberley, I feel so guilty, why have they not upgraded you?
 
I just checked and we received our room #'s. We are in rooms 6015 and 6019.

It looks like a standard room, no upgrade, but I am so excited to have two rooms next to each other:cool1:

Does anyone know how I can tell if they are connecting rooms?

I pulled up the deck plans, and these look like they're sideways cat 11's! Maybe not an upgrade, but I hear they feel more roomy than the standard Cat 11's. They don't connect - the connecting rooms on the deck plans will have little triangles pointing at each other along with a little swinging door icon on them. I don't believe any of the sideways connect - though there's no reason why not as they could easily put a connecting door by the closet! :rotfl:

We haven't had a sideways Cat 11 yet, but we have one booked for our next cruise on the Wonder in June. You'll have to let us know how they are!!!

I love sideways rooms...you got lucky!

We also got our assignment...category 11 on deck seven.
 
i got my cabin assignment as well. 6503 which is a sideways cabin as well. mari loves the pull down berth, but will have to live without this time.

I am so happy for all of you! Also glad to say that my in-laws got cat 11's on deck 6 aft. Great location and I'm happy it worked out for them to get a nice deck for their first cruise.

I'm getting a little paranoid. I guess I must have a black cloud over my head or something. I wish I could say it didn't bother me that we're in the cat 12's, but it does...

However, I can't complain because it's what I purchased. I just don't get it. We booked one of these cabins back in April and the other in August. I would have thought for sure we'd at least get a cat 11. :confused:

Feeling a little down right now, I know you guys know what I mean. I don't want to let this ruin my vacation. It won't once I get there, but I'm not feeling all that excited about things at the moment.

We got our cabins too 6641 and 6643 cat 11 upgrade from cat 12.Do you need to know our cat numbers for the fish extender ?:)

Is it possible to get an upgrade at the port? Maybe there will be some upward movement opening more category 9, 10, 11's.

Maybe there will be another change in cabin before we cruise, I sure hope so. Especially at this time of year, I was hoping to not have to think about a paid upgrade at the port. It was almost $900 to upgrade to a balcony in April. I don't think I'd pay to upgrade to anything other than that, unless I got the call for the $150 upgrade to the cat 9. I wasn't expecting to be upgraded to a cat 9 (free), but I was hoping to at least get a cat 11 on a higher deck like everyone else seems to be getting. I would have been happy with that.

Sorry, I know I sound like a negative Nelly. I'm still struggling with trying to snap myself back into being excited, but this has really put a damper on things for me. :sad2:

I'm not sure how all the upgrades work, but they seem to have rooms available in all categories. I'm sure they wouldn't leave you in a category 12 if they had rooms available in higher categories at the port.

I would love to have the balcony room, because I have a feeling I will be the one in the room at nap time and it would be nice to not sit in the dark. So I know if they offer the balcony for $900 I will take it, but I was definitely not paying double to do the balcony ahead of time.

I have a feeling you will definitely get an upgrade. Just seems like they have a lot of rooms and they will take less money at the port.
But I definitely understand how you feel after reading all of these posts. There doesn't seem to have any logic behind there upgrades. Very frustrating. It would make more sense that you would have my cat. 11's sense you booked before me.
 
Can't you call them about these upgrades? It seems to me that someone must have missed calling you. It does happen. Remember we are human and we do make mistakes. Maybe calling them and letting them know that all of these other people have been offered upgrades and you would like to know if there was a reason why you were not offered one.. This is Disney they usually do everything to accomodate when we are unhappy. They want us to be happy cruisers. I would try calling first and see what they say before letting this get me too frustrated.:dance3::cheer2:
 
Ok, I feel like I have to shout from the rooftops about it, so excuse my off-topic post...

I have been terrified that I haven't been doing my job right. I don't know why, but I just have this intense anxiety about it. It doesn't help that I've been told at least twice that I'm the third teacher of the deaf in two years in this county.

My boss (the head of the special ed department in this county) came to observe me this morning. All I can say is I rocked. Sure, there were some slip ups, but they weren't major (for instance, struggles with cutting a lemon) and my boss said that I have some superb strengths that she likes to see. She does have some suggestions, as well, but overall I'm strong.

My room hasn't changed. Stil 5020- secret porthole room.

So...who wants to see pictures!?! I love the pictures that my photographer posted on his blog!

Unfortunately, there are too many negative people on this board at times. You ask or say something innocent and you get jumped on. Don't let them rain on your parade! On the EBPC cruise last summer, there were alot who had inside cabins and loved them. We were going to try a cat 11 and than got the offer for an upgrade. Some people swear by them. Hey, it if came between sailing or not sailing, I'd take the cat 12or 11!

Kimberly, I'm sorry you did not get the uqgrade. The answer you got from the agent didn't make sense to me either. Why don't you try talking to another DCL agent about this? In the past, I have gotten different responses depending on which DCL agent I talked to (about issues unrelated to upgrades). Anyway, I would call again and see what they say.

Also, I'm sorry that you got some negative responses on the main board. I think you have been very helpful, always positive :sunny: and very welcoming to everyone and I appreciate that. Thank you!
