12/19/2009 - 12/26/2009 Magical Christmas Cruise! It's not that far Away?

Kimberly I know the feeling. I put 44 people on one sailing in May and every single person got an upgrade but me! It was acutally kind of funny! I referred everyone of them and got them booked and then I got the 12!! What I realized is how very little time I actually spend in that room. I also discovered I like to slip away and take showers in the spa instead of the room!! It gave me a new perspective as I have always had a 9 or 10 but I realized that since there were only three of us it was not really important! We spent more time than ever out and about on the ship and ended up really having a great time. I will tell you that when I walked in to that room for the first time I freaked out!! It seemed so small after a ten. Tony got on the phone and they told us that once we were underway they would see if they could move us to a bigger room. Unfortunately there were no other big rooms available but there were a few other 12's that they offered us. WE decided to stay and ended up falling in love with our new deck!! Just remember you could be stuck at home cooking Christmas dinner instead of enjoying this amazing trip!! The accomidations are minor!! It is all about just being on that boat!! Sorry to babble. I just totally sympathized!

Unfortunately, there are too many negative people on this board at times. You ask or say something innocent and you get jumped on. Don't let them rain on your parade! On the EBPC cruise last summer, there were alot who had inside cabins and loved them. We were going to try a cat 11 and than got the offer for an upgrade. Some people swear by them. Hey, it if came between sailing or not sailing, I'd take the cat 12or 11!

Hi Kimberly-
I'm sorry people weren't more supportive. But lots of hugs from those of us on your boat. We've sailed 3 times in inside cabins and I wouldn't hesitate to book one again. DH and I joke that there is no better place to sleep than an inside cabin!! I also like the layout of the insides better than the others. The bed is in the back of the room instead of in in the middle, so there is more floor space when you come in . . . it just feels roomier. Have you checked out any pictures online? That always makes me more excited about things.

Happy Friday!

Kimberly, I'm sorry you did not get the uqgrade. The answer you got from the agent didn't make sense to me either. Why don't you try talking to another DCL agent about this? In the past, I have gotten different responses depending on which DCL agent I talked to (about issues unrelated to upgrades). Anyway, I would call again and see what they say.

Also, I'm sorry that you got some negative responses on the main board. I think you have been very helpful, always positive :sunny: and very welcoming to everyone and I appreciate that. Thank you!
Kiki

Thank you so much for your kind words, Kiki! We have a wonderful group here traveling next month and it's been fun "getting to know" all of you! I look forward to logging on to see what everyone is up to and excited about :goodvibes

The best thing for me to do regarding the cabin assignment is to let this go and move on. It's really not worth dwelling on. I feel so incredibly fortunate to be able to go on this cruise at all, and it was just not my turn to get the upgrade. It sure would have been nice, but it's not the end of the world!

And it sure makes me feel better to have all of you being so nice and understanding how I felt!!! Thank you sooo much!

Oh my gosh, Shannon, I can't imagine how you must have felt! But I have to tell you how much I appreciate your sharing that story. Just knowing that others can relate to what I am saying and that I'm not trying to whine and complain, I was just feeling a little sad about not getting the pixie dust this time. But it's all good now! And you're right, I could be home cooking on Christmas - :scared1: ugh, I surely don't want that!!! Not to mention I wouldn't have the opportunity to meet all of you in person ;)

Thank you Leslie for the virtual hug!!! You are so sweet, I can't wait to meet you and everyone else on this board next month!

You're right about the layout of the inside room, the bed in the back does seem like it would make it easier to manuveur around and feel a little more spacious.

And hey, on deck 2 we'll be one of the first ones on Castaway Cay on Christmas morning!!! :cool1:

michellemb, disneyday, lovesDCL thank you all so much for your encouragement about the cabin.

Last time we sailed we were upgraded at 32 days out and then again 6 days before we cruise, so maybe there is still hope that we will get an upgrade. But at this point I am moving forward keeping my mind set on the rooms we got. Thankfully we did book 2 cabins, so the up-side is having extra space, an extra bathroom, etc. And at least DCL kept us side-by-side.

Have a good weekend everyone!

I just PM'ed everyone who is doing the FE exchange. I guess I didn't do the link right so you may not be able to access the spreadsheet. I will try to work out the bugs and resend the link!

OK. I resent everyone the link. It should go directly to the spreadsheet. If not lwt me know. It's one of those mornings! :confused3

Hi Downrivermama.. I got the spreadsheet and sent you an email back with my information.

Kimberly -- Sorry you didn't get an upgrade. I was going to inquire about upgrading at the port, but decided, I honestly have better places to spend my money. My room.. nah, I dont plan on being in there too much, so, it is what it is. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. still working on my FE. Maybe I can finish it this weekend (along with gardening, work, groceries, etc). I also need to get a handle on my more complicated FE. I have to make at least one a day (to give me a little lee-way), and I'm still learning on it. I hope you guys all like it. Have a great weekend!!

Kimberly,,,, I am also sorry you didn't get the call. I am happy you will be with us regardless. My friends are happy too :banana::banana:

It is 10:55 AM here in Indy and I am sitting on hold with DVC trying to book the member cruise. They say it is a 75 minute wait on hold.

Sorry to hijack your message, 3Dan (ha!) I'm amazed I was able to find you on the boards. Hey, thanks for getting me addicted to DCL... But now I'll probably need therapy or something for cruise withdrawl! Hope you got your errands done yesterday!

Sorry to be a pain, but do you mind sending it me again please as I don't seem to have received it.
Thanks

Hi Aimee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I went and did it. Yep, I did it. Now I'm doomed. FOREVER. Got the member cruise. Not even sure any more which room. Cat 5. But,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I also just booked the Disney Dream for June 12 for a five day in 2011. Also on points. What a bad way to use points. I think I'm going to throw up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not even the boys can help. Hey you guys, I think we only have 39 days to sail,,,,????? Right?????????????
:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
I couldn't talk myself into doing the inaugural cruise. I was talking with DCL and they said they thought there wouldn't be any special send off at the time of the cruise. That is in keeping with DCL. They want us to focus on the ship itself and not the sendoff.
Bill
Wow,,,, Aimee,,,,, one post. That took guts!!!!!!(teehee)
Gang, she is a newbee up here. Hey Aimee,,, they seem to have cat 12 rooms available,,,, take a look.

I retrieved the list. You have us in cabin 2538 and it should be 2568. Can you correct that? I had corrected it early on in the dis chatting but it must have not been noticed.
Kimberly
Peace and love babe. You have been awesome and so has Tina for getting this together. We are going to have a great time and we will just keep spreadin the love okay!

Dan
You beat us on booking the Dream. We will be booking for the Dec 2011 using points but cant do until our use year begins in Dec. right before we sail on this cruise. See you on Aquaduck!:dance3::cheer2:

good morning! any last minute suggestions for the cruise slogan? check the list at the end of the roll call and make sure i've gotten everyone's ideas compiled on that list...it's time to vote this week!

let's start the official voting tomorrow morning since i forgot to put a reminder here yesterday about closing the list. sound good?

then, if you'll pm me your vote, that would be helpful. i'm afraid if you all cast your votes in the thread i will miss someone's vote.

thanks!

Hi everyone,

Do any of you know if I should ask DCL to change our bed configuration prior to sailing? We booked 2 ppl. in each of 2 cabins, but the girls and I are probably going to sleep together in one. So, I'd like the bed split into twins as well as having the couch made up into a bed at night.

Thanks,
Kimberly

Good morning, Kimberly,,,, Hi Barb!!!
I thought about putting in a post to let you know. My ankle is severely sprained and yesterday, it was real painfull. I don't know why. The injury was Sunday night. I have been doing well until yesterday. Today , I am better. We'll see. My cruise on the Dream is June 12. We have set up a cat four so that if by some chance Billy and Kathleen want to join us, we could add them in. They will both be adults then. No Problem. I figure that when it gets closer to 2011, most of the rooms will be sold out.
Bill PS 1 week to Miley,,,,YOOHOO

Are you sure? You should be able to book cruises up to 24 months in advance - use year is only relevant to the year's worth of points you're using, it doesn't really have any bearing on when you can book to use those points. I think we've booked point cruises more than 12 months out, so I'm pretty sure you should be able to do so!
