12/16/06 10-day holiday cruise Part 4

Kat, we had the same issues this year. It's made a huge snarl with things. DD also takes college classes so I guess now they aren't going to coincide with the high school schedule. What a mess this year is going to be for us. At least we don't have any travel plans that will need to be changed. But we won't be here for her first day of school. I had wanted her all nicely set up in school when we left for the Repo but that's not going to be the case now. UGH!

Great Photos Kat....I enjoyed everyone of them...this is so great!! I love the photo sharing because there are pictures that I did not take that you guys took that I can add to bmy pictures...I sure hope mine come out so that I can also share!!!!!

It was so great to meet everyone that I would hate to loose touch! Even though we did not spend alot of time on our vacation together we sure have online. And that to me has been a blessing. You all are soooo nice and kind and caring people....thanks for coming into our lives!

Kat, I missed your post this morning...it must have shown up while I was off composing. I know what you mean about the changing school schedules. We were lucky that our guys got our the 15th last year, because the next two years came out right before the break and they don't get out until the 21st or 22nd either year. With two in high school starting next year, there will be no chances of pulling them early....especially since that is first semester finals week!

Got boys successfully back in school, and now I'm sitting here putting off starting to pay bills. I'm hoping to get to picture editing this weekend!

Called AAA and got my days at WDW rescheduled and got DH's blessing that he does NOT want to go. I will go pay my deposit tomorrow and then think about looking for air fares. Anyone else want to go to WDW in August??? I will be there with Sam Aug 8-12, staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort. I got 3 day park hoppers so we will have no plans on the 8th from whenever we get in, or on the 12th until we have to go to the airport, plus our time at the parks. We'd love to have company! I will not tell Sam we are going until just before we go .

Sherrena, I hear you there. I would not even be thrilled about pulling Sam out at this point. And she also doesn't start Christmas until the 21 next year and the 19 the year after! Spring break isn't any earlier either year, though. Next year, though, Good Friday occurs the Friday before spring break so they will have an extra day there.

Called AAA and got my days at WDW rescheduled and got DH's blessing that he does NOT want to go. I will go pay my deposit tomorrow and then think about looking for air fares. And for one day less at DL it was much more than what the 3 days at WDW and 4 nites at the resort would cost, never mind that airfare would be close to twice as much for us to get to California as to Orlando!

We're looking at being with family around the 4th of July so might be gone right at the end, but should be around the rest of June. The neighbours heard the break in and distracted the culprits. Interestingly enough the neighbour said they saw them at the house on Boxing day and told them to get lost - they told some story about losing a ball in the backyard. (if it had been me I would likely have called the police at that time - on the flip side - not much they would have done)

They they came back on December 31 early a.m. and broke two of the basement windows - they used a large rock from my garden. It was also obvious that they knew that the main floor was alarmed as the screens were moved - likely they saw the connectors to the system there.

We don't have the basement alarmed as I always thought the windows were too small to let anyone in - 10" by 20" (I think). In hindsight all of our electronics, the DVD collection my DH has and our projection television and two computers are down there as well as all the Breakfast with Santa Stuff. Well, after they broke the window the neighbour turned on the lights and they took off, then they came back 30 minutes later to do the job and the lady next door called 911. Police drove up the street as she was on the phone with 911 and described them in great detail. Her DH then turned on the lights right at the time the police was in front of the house and the kids started to run - police got out and a chase pursued. The helicopter was dispatched and circled the area for 3 hours. Apparently they caught one guy and three went to a house party two streets over.

We bought new windows today and plexi glass to screw over top of the glass into the frame- apparently you can take a sledge hammer to the window and it won't break. I am also going to connect those windows to the alarm system and the motion detector.

We don't think they had enough time to get in but the police were concerned that they might come back to finish what they started.

I was a nervous wreck all the way home. Disney was great about it and credited my points for the last unused points back to my account.

It was so nice to meet all of you. Did any of you rebook for another cruise?? It would be fun to know when and if we can all meet again sometime.

Robin did you end up buying into DVC??? Thank you for your kind words.

I have rebooked a land vacation in July for OKW and for Vero Beach - Jessica and Peter are celebrating their birthdays on July 20 th and wanted to be at WDW.

I also rebooked a "dummy" cruise for Feb 2008 but that may change.

Now that we have had the unfortunate experience with the house while we were gone I will have to review how best to secure everything. I had someone in here every day, lights were on timers, curtains were changed of and on and the radio was on as well. Maybe I need to get a dog! - I could call him PLUTO. LOL

Denise, I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear of the trouble you had at your home while you were away. We had our mailbox demolished and after hearing your story I feel quite fortunate that is all that happened while I was gone. I enjoyed meeting you very much on the cruise and am sorry you could not join us for the brunch, but glad your DD's talent show went off well. We have booked the dummy cruise in January waiting for, like many others, the release of a special itinerary for 2008 before I firm up a date.

Robin - you put into words my feelings about our fellow DIS cruisers much better than I ever could. Just wanted to add, right back at ya, girlfriend . You were always great fun to be around. Even DH commented on how he thought "the skinny lady" was a hoot to listen to . Thought you'd like that one . Anywho, it really was great seeing friendly faces everywhere on the ship. I know there were some DISer's on the ship that I never got to meet, but hope that some day we may meet on a future DCL Cruise (perhaps 2008?).

Kat, Thank you for sharing all those wonderful pitcures. It really took me back to the cruise. Those blue skies and puffy clouds....ahhhh .

......and Bronwen, speaking of pitcures, loved the slide show with your puppy. Very cute. I wish we could have a dog, but alas, we really do vacation alot and it would be so unfair to the pooch. Julia is asking for a poodle. DH says, "NO WAY". He wants a bulldog .

J.R., loved the trip report. Although we don't have it on film, there are several memories of Julia showing her "gratitude " for having being subjected to the Magic of Mickey 24/7. Oh, how terrible it must have been for them to be bored for maybe 5 minutes in the 10 days . Seriously, great report and you and your lovely wife have a great looking family .

Glad to hear things didn't turn out as bad as they could have been. You will likely live on edge for awhile though.

We ended up booking the med cruise for June 27 but are expecting to cancel it. Had nothing to lose by booking it while we were onboard.

We had a great vacation and are sure missing the Disney Magic.

I just finished updating the Yahoo database. Instead of room numbers it now has names and, if you have given me your address for the mailing list, addresses. If anyone else wants their address or birthdays added please let me know. With addresses we can send Christmas cards next year, birthday cards if your or your kids' birthdays are listed, etc. I just thought this would be a fun way to continue the Magic and the friendships.


By the way, for those that are into the reality shows or cop shows. CBS is starting Armed and Famous this Tuesday, the 10th. It ought to be good for a laugh or two as it was filmed here (and is still being filmed) in Muncie, Indiana.

Looks great...lol...it is not on my tree that is still up by the way it is with all my cards that we recieved from all of you and all the cards we had when we got home....told my friends not to send cards out this year cause we were not sending any,guess that they could not hold back so know I feel sad that we did not send any out!!!

The only thing hanging on our tree besides the lights are 2 little ginger bread people..lol..and a Mickey in a stocking ornament..can't remember which one of you at this time gave them to us( I have written down) but they are on our tree and a friend of mine came over and laughed and said "nice 3 ornaments" could not find time to put more on...

Every year we decorate our house all the way down to the linnens on the beds and we have soooo many decorations inside and out that the PTA loves having the Christmas party here every year( we also have the pool party every summer with about 70 kids and adults), Christmas party only about 25...but we have a great time and this year had to pass and they were all bummed saying that they love our house at Christmas because it is so festive...they replyed everyyear I add new things and they will miss that this year. That is nice that they say that...

The boys have been back in school since the 2nd and start Basketbakll today and Billie is the Coach for both Michaels team and Brandens team.
Was only going to coach Brandens team but he also had about 45 parents request him again as coach so they put him in to coach Micahels team while we were away..he came home and found himself with 2 teams instead of one...

Let me clarify that the requests are because they like Billie and that he is a fun coach and have been coaching many years and also because he played College ball for UNLV...

DH has a buddy who was GIVEN two tickets to today's Colts game so they are leaving soon to head down to Indy!!!!

You are so lucky to be able to go so soon back to WDW...I'm sure like you we will need a Disney fix before summer of 2008...will have to go to Disneyland in the summer. Is'n it funny how we are addicted to Disney...I use to hate Mickey and Minnie Mouse, thought they were so stupped...lol..then I had kids and all that changed.....now I can't get enough and have Disney Pictures all over my house....

These boards are great cause they are full of Disney addicts...something friends just don't get.

And Denise, yes we did join DVC, we are neighbors for 47 years...isn't that great! Wonder over the years how many times we will run into each other...lol...
